Yeah, I lived in Oxnard after I married husband number 2 from the military. I went to "A" school at the Seabee base in Port Hueneme. There about a year and a half due to roomate getting drunk at a party and bad things happening. Needless to say, we (about 6 of us) had to stay to be witnesses at the court marshals. Anyhoo, met husband #2 while stationed in Guam and then I got out of the Navy, and he still had a few years to go, so every six months he'd be stationed in Port Hueneme, and then 6 months overseas. So I'd go early and get the apartment and live there for 6 mos and then pack up and drive back home (WI) for six months etc.... Always loved the weather.

You know, the first time for Vanuatu, I always thought that any question they asked me in short interviews on the 8th floor, were ALWAYS trick questions. That they were somehow psychologically picking apart every word I said and making them fit into a certain category of what I thought they were looking for. Talk about over-thinking and over-projecting and over everything-ing. One interview they had a bowl of M & M's on the table and I asked if I could have some. Lynn said "Go ahead. In fact, take the whole bowl if you want to.".............

Here's what went through my mind at that exact moment....................

"Shit! Shit! Shit! Should I even of asked to have some? Should I have just grabbed a handful without asking? Am I being too nice? Maybe they put that bowl out there like that as a test to see what everyone would do when faced with this situation. Did some people just grab some, and that's what they are looking for? People who have no manners? And now.........Do I take just a handful? Or should I take the whole bowl back to my room so it looks like I'm an ass and nobody else gets any? Like if I was on the island and it came to sharing food. Maybe they want to see if I would piss everyone off by eating more fish than anyone else and then everyone would hate me and it would cause more drama and better TV. Oh my God!!! What if I blow this!!!! But I'm not a pig and I like to share with people and I don't want to take the whole bowl so that everyone else can have M & M's". ......blah blah blah

So, I grabbed the whole bowl, said thanks and started to walk out of the room. Then I stopped, turn back and put the bowl back on the table and said "Yeah, I can't take the whole bowl. My mom would kill me if I didn't share. She wasn't raising animals ya know....."

And I obsessed over it for the rest of the day if I passed or failed that test. Talk about paranoia. And it was like that for me every time I went to that 8th floor for interviews.

Second time I went out there (for Micro), if there was any food on any tables, I just pretended I didn't see it.



Problem solved.
