I think it's counter-programing-ish - CBS wants their Thursday night behemoth to crush the ABC and NBC premieres scheduled on the 25th. Survivor itself
might do better premiering a week earlier, against nothing, but that wouldn't benefit the network as much. I'd take it as confidence in this season (if
somewhat heavy-handed and late-thinking confidence).

JEFF PROBST SAYS: ''You would expect him to be like a villain in a Bond movie who dies a horrible death at the end. It's
almost like a blind arrogance, and he's really fun to watch. And I think his accent could work for him or against him, but there is something about
the accent that makes everything he says seem smarter.''
JEFF PROBST SAYS: ''He's the oldest guy out there. And unfortunately, that works against people all the time, even though
there's probably nobody better equipped for this game. He's probably the guy who will be the biggest asset, if they don't get foolish and
vote him out.''
JEFF PROBST SAYS: ''Charlie prides himself on being very bright and educated. And the question I'd say for Charlie is,
'Can he stand up for himself? Does he really have a voice?' Or is he just going to look for somebody to hang on to and see how far they'll
pull him along.''
JEFF PROBST SAYS: ''Corinne is a self-proclaimed über-bitch, and she owns it. I think the meanest thing you could say to
Corinne would be to say, 'You're very pleasant.' She would take that as an insult of the highest order.''
JEFF PROBST SAYS: ''I think Crystal's big dilemma is going to be, 'What does she say that she does? Who does she say
she is?' Because it's obvious she's an athlete. Crystal has a mouth on her. She does not edit. That makes her great at Tribal Council, but
a liability in the game.''
JEFF PROBST SAYS: ''He's earnest, but he is his own worst enemy. He means well and does not know when to shut up.
He's like a cocker spaniel, charming and annoying at the same time.''
JEFF PROBST SAYS: ''G.C. is a fish out of water. Does he have the fortitude to really do this? Because when I talked to him
before the show it seemed like a lot of nervous energy masquerading as confidence. But it was, really, I felt, fear, like 'What am I getting
into?' And that's not a good place to be because what you're getting into is a big ol' headache.''
JEFF PROBST SAYS: ''Charm is her strength because she's likable in doses, and that's her liability. Does she know
when enough is enough? You can only hear someone say 'I'm from South Africa' so many times before you want to say, 'Why don't you
go back to South Africa!'''
JEFF PROBST SAYS: ''I think Jacque will be a bit of a dark horse. I don't think she'll be a leader. I think
she'll use her looks and her charm to get in with the right guy and hope that she can ride with that guy as far as she can. If Jacque gets deep
into the show I think she's a legitimate threat at the challenges. She's pretty fit.''
JEFF PROBST SAYS: ''She makes every decision from her heart and not her head. She's very emotional, somewhat naïve, and I
think when you first look at her, the question is going to be, 'Can she hack it out here? Does she have what it takes?' It doesn't take
much for Sugar to break into @@!+$.''

Gosh, Probst made them all sound awful... Now I'm bummed...
ETA Those tribes don't seem evenly matched... OK, Jacque for the win (gotta be a woman, or Probst would be more excited about someone), Marcus for the narrator, Bob for my favorite.

Just watched all the interviews on EW
Hmmmmmmmm...... I like a couple of them, I'm ready to hit mute when a couple of them start talking, and I'm on the fence for the rest. Think I'm gonna continue to reserve judgment, until we get to know them a little better |

ETA: Trix, Okie et.al, if you can fix the links to the embedded videos I would be truly grateful. I can't figure this out. If the
readers click on the link below they can view videos on all contestants courtesy of Comcast.

Wow lots of young fit "kids" with a few older folks.
Kinda reminds me of a cast from one of the overseas versions of Survivor. All the guys seem to drown each other out. I predict another female this season. Go Gillian! |

I frickin hate that they're pumping Marcus up to be the star...reminds me of the Cooks when every ad was plastered with Yul pics...I don't wanna have
to watch this arrogant prick all season...

Going with some of the myspace comments Danny might be switched, somehow has contact or makes the merge with the "myspace" group. Still I like the
Red tribes chances better. Randy will no doubt shoot his way out of town, but they seem to have a Korror/Boran/ChuayGhan older tribe does well vibe.
Early shots show Sugar working Ace, and Crystal and Susie bonding...perhaps early alliances. Plus a bunch of younger people seem to be giving Bob the evil eye as he stalks away from a fire pit. |

So we got an Aras wannabe and a Dreamz redux......yay.
I'm completely underwhelmed. |

I'm not sure about underwhelming Martrae, but they do have a similar ring. Similar types frequently act dissimilarly...At least as of now it's largely
uspoiled. Although I'd tend to agree with the above that Danny makes friends in LL rather than the merge or twist. That myfreinds info could be the next
Diane's friends list or nothing.

Don't rain on my Miss Marple imitation! ;)
I'm just not expecting anything exciting this season. Last season had so many memorable moments it'll really be hard to top. |

For those who don't go upstairs to read any more - Smashbox has kinda sorta given us a pre-season GUT (I said.....kinda-sorta)

i'm kinda looking forward to this season and the cast, i think it will be a fresh start. also i'm reaallly looking forward to the two hour premier,
and even if there are two tribal councils, i still reckon it will be showing us three days worth of survivor, not six.

Jeff's given some hints. Corinne loves to be a beatch - and says so herself. Marcus is labeled arrogant, and apparently uses his "sex appeal"
on 3 contestants, not all women. (If Marcus is arround that long he can't be an early boot).
Randy comes across curmudgeonly in his videos. |

''The way I would describe Kelly is that she is part of the Text Message Generation. And she speaks that way, she'll say 'OMG!' for 'Oh my God!' Ugh. I freaking HATE that. I would have to slap her. Probably with a piece of firewood. |

Based purely on Probst's comments and the tribal breakdown, I'd say "Bet on Yellow."
Probst takes about the likely Yellow leaders as if they were arrogent villians - Ace, Corinne, even Marcus. To display those qualities they will have to last awhile and hold some power. Charlie's issue is about "standing up for himself" against the more badass people. On paper, Yellow seems like the more cohesive tribe with younger people and smart male leaders (a doctor, a lawyer, and Ace). I can't imagine Randy, Crystal, and the young guys on Red all getting along. I think they cast potential villians for the "Last Eden" theme, and the bad guys managed to form a strong unit and run the show (at least until near the end). That's why Probst doesn't have a lot of positives to say for the cast (especially Yellow). He likes it when his conception of "good guys" win (Ozzy or Yao-man, not Heidik or some badass or boring chick). Probst obviously likes Matty and Ken, they will be edited as underdog heroes. His comments about the idol suggest that several arrogent Yellow leaders get blindsided, but the benficiary is probably someone like Charlie, Jacque, or another girl.
