My older son suffered profound brain damage when he was six months old, about a month after taking his first DPT vaccine. That's really (supposed to be)
too long after the fact for the pertussis portion to be considered a causative factor, but for the remaining DPT vaccinations, the doctor eliminated the
"P" portion from his vaccines. Just in case. The whole cell pertussis vaccines are no longer available in the US. There is a safer version out there
now.

I can't remember where I saw this, but some town in Florida had an outbreak of the fucking mumps. THE MUMPS!

I think many kids are diagnosed with autism now to excuse poor behavior. My son's friend is 20 years old, and her mother just decided she has autism to excuse the fact that she's very shy and doesn't like to be in big crowds of people. Um, no, that's not autism Um, no, that's not a diagnosis. |

I question the number of vaccines that are now required and the very early age at which they are given. Does every baby in the country need a hepatitis B
vaccine at birth? Why? I counted 19 required vaccines in my state. Are all of these really necessary? Hep A, Hep B, rotovirus, PCV, the frickin' flu. Are
otherwise healthy kids really in danger from these diseases? And even chickenpox. Everyone I know (incl me) had chickenpox and somehow managed to survive. Are
otherwise-healthy kids really in danger from chickenpox? When I was a kid there were no vaccines for mumps, measles or chickenpox, but I don't know of
anyone who ever died or even had any complications from them. We got sick, then we got better.
Besides making incredible profits for the drug companies, are all of these vaccines really necessary? I don't believe the autism crap, but I question whether there is a connection between the large rise in allergies, asthma and other immune-system conditions and the explosion in the number of vaccines that are required. |

How do kids learn their left from their right without the vaccine scar on their arms?

The vaccine that scars never "took" on me. I was told it meant I had a natural immunity. I have no idea if that's true or not.
Tres, you write with your right works for the majority of the unscarred. Of course, us lefties are left out on that one, as usual. |

They don't do the smallpox vaccines anymore unless you're in the military.
Hot husband has had all sorts of crazy vaccines, they pump them full of them. |

they didn't have mumps or chickenpox vaccines when I was a kid either, but that had it for one kind of measles (there are two I think)

I had the measles when I was 3 months old. A couple of years ago, I got the MMR vaccine. Does that make me doubly protected against measles?

We over vaccinate just like we over medicate. I'm not against vaccinations but doctors and pharmaceutical companies are prescribing it like vitamins. This
goes for dogs as well.

This goes for dogs as well. Huh. Good point. Every year I would ask the vet why my house cat, who never goes outside and never comes into contact with other cats, had to get the feline leukemia shot. The third time I just said nope....he doesn't need it and he isn't getting it. Saved myself $45 every year since. With that said, load up the vaccines for kids. Can never be too safe, I always say.... |

Fucking asshole parents. Wait till smallpox makes a grand re-appearance. That won't be pretty. I'm waiting for typhoid. |

I had rubella three times. I apparently can't get immunity from it. Immunizing children against rubella prevents them from spreading rubella to pregnant
women and causing birth defects. My kids both got chicken pox twice and Tres may have had them a third time. Vaccinating not only prevents the kids from
getting sick but the general public as well.
I got my polio shots from Dr. Jonas Salk. I was part of a double blind study when I was in first grade to catalog reactions to the shots. I didn't get the vaccine during the first round (the vaccine required three shots for immunization) and I had to have three more to become fully immunized. Mean trick to play on a six year old. ETA: 100 vaccinated kids! |

SmrtAss wrote:Mine never took either. I had to go back to the doctor and get the shot again. I ended up getting that damn shot 2 or 3 times and it never did scar up like it was supposed to. I don't know whether the doctor eventually decided I had natural immunity or if he just said fuck it, but they let me start school. |
