Obama smoked a joint, looked at the short list of candidates and asked himself, which one of these guys cracks me up? Biden, haha!

Oh, I like Biden and to be real honest, this energizes me as a base democrat where Obama hasn't. I think McCain needs to do the same and pick a VP that
energizes his base. This frees up the contenders to go after the Independents.

The difference is that Romney has been campaigning pretty damn hard for McCain and actually is a better campaigner than McCain himself. Biden is a known
plagurist, has tripped himself up on personal comments about Obama and Romney hasn't. Not to mention the fact that Biden is a career politition and Mitt
is not. That always plays better.

Scranton? Biden's been representing Delaware for 35+ years Just how stupid are you Ruggy? Did you even bother to watch his speech while you were googling obscure articles? JB was born in Scranton, grew up in Scranton, still has family there. You know nada about the culture and mindset of that area if you dismiss this as unimportant. They don't resent you when you leave, they're proud of you and you are always considered one of them especially when you can belly up to the bar at the VFW or Elk lodge. He's a politican and probably rich, but he has blue collar upbringing. Some people turn away from their roots when they become successful some of us embrace the values. He did the latter. Oh and his wife is a teacher, who actually works and wasn't born a millionairess. And she's hotter than Cindy. As for the RC question thanks for reminding me about why I left the church after 40 years and am a happy Presbryterian. (And yep, I have family there from my father's side. Just went to a wedding recently. Left the more ostentatious bling at home, drank beer instead of white wine and raved that the white pizza appetizer was better than anything you could get in Philly. Which it was)

Rudy Giuliani response when Biden
took a shot at him - "Joe's a good guy, we all criticize each other during this time... But for Joe Biden to talk about qualifications - he's
never run a city, he's never run a state, he's never run a business."
I guess Rudy could be talking about both ends of the Dem ticket now. |

No mention yet of Obama introducing Biden as "the next president"?

Joe Biden is just the guy to get McCain all riled up and cause McCain to yell "fuck you" and have a meltdown on national TV.
I can't wait. |

My friend just called me after she left the rally and she said it was hot as hell too, LadyGrinning, but of course she said it was a blast.
Wish I could have went. |

Trixie, Romney may be campaigning for McCain now but earlier those two were brutal to each other. And as for Biden's plagiarism tag from 20 years ago, well is that really worse than all the contradictions and flipflops that Multiple Choice Mitt would bring to the table? And ruggy and springfeverish, of any sitting senator Biden would know the most about what working people are going through since he is the least wealthy U.S. Senator. |

Biden's Indian comment was goofy and un-PC, but very few people actually were offended, and then, not very long. Hillary made an even more offensive
comment saying Ghandi "ran a gas station down in St. Louis."
Here's a Republican Indian American who wasn't outraged by Biden's remark. http://www.realclearpolit...fe_no_apology_needed.html "We should not live our lives in a perpetual state of offense. For a minority group to succeed in a country they must adapt to the mores and customs of that country. Teasing and joking are large parts of American culture." |

Ive been walking around all day and fully processed this and have now gone from Biden as a boring choice to a positively inspired one. He doesn't
overshadow Obama, he's solidifies the base, can execute Obama initiatives as in insider, probably wins back a few Hillary supporters, and will make for
some interesting headlines as you never know what he's going to say (that could backfire, but it will at least be fun to watch). Jon Stewart also loves
him, so that's also a plus.
I always liked Biden but thought he was a loose cannon and ran his mouth too much. My initial disappointment was that Obama didn't pull out some crazy wildcard candidate. But I guess for the sake of the country, Biden was one of the better choices. Bayh really might have been an even better choice, but I'm not sure they want a bumper sticker that reads OBAMA BYE! Even David Brooks is wild about the choice.
