Well, same old b/s, Tipsy fans - he just lost the first set in 23 minutes - 2-6.
ETA: Tipsy just RETIRED from his match.

He retired from the Olympics, too.... I hope he is ok.

Well - since Tipsy is out, I'm going with Robredo. He cut his hair and is looking very sporty again instead of dirty like Nadal.

Jelena may be in trouble... Arvidsson just took the 2nd set from her in a tiebreak. Jelena looks tired; Sofia looks fresh.

On serve, 4 all in the 3rd!! DAMN, this is tight!!
Remember... at the US Open, the FINAL SET also has a tiebreak! ETA - Jelena broke her in the LAST game, and won the match, 7-5 in the 3rd! Man, I was wanting a tiebreak. In other news, Tsonga the tank engine wins in his first match after being away for 4 months, due to recovery from his surgery.

Roddick is running out of time.
He could be the best in the world, but his play is so ragtag and sloppy. He wastes energy on every move. No comparison between Roddick's herky-jerky play and the smooth movements and strokes of a Federer, for example. A good coach would straighten him out, if he'd listen. Then he'd be number one. Time is running out, Andy! |

Jelena is so overrrated. She was #1 for awhile without ever making a finals of a grandslam. Five of the women have a chance at being #1 by the time this week
ends. With their sloppy play so far, Jelena and Ana are going to be early boots.
Venus is making quick work of her match, 6-0 and 4-1 so far. |

Ms. Ivanovic looks fine this afternoon. Well maybe she just lost her opening set, but she still looks cute.

She's not looking fine now...
...Ivanovic serving at 2-5, to stay in the match! ETA: FINITO!!! Julie Coin, a qualifier ranked #188 in the world, who in the 1st Round had her first victory over a Top 100 opponent... who's not only playing in her first Grand Slam event, but is playing in her FIRST TOUR LEVEL tournament in the WTA... ...has just DEFEATED the World #1 Women's Player, Ana Ivanovic, in the 2ND ROUND of the US Open!!! During her on-court post-match interview, this great exchange occurred... Interviewer: "Did you think when you stepped on the court that you could do this today?" Julie Coin: "No..." MASSIVE victory for the young woman!!!

That Coin chick played her ass off today. Okay, Ana didn't play her best. She looks nervous out there ever since she won her slam. I wonder what kind of
pressure is on her? Coin deserved that win.
NYC always cheers for the underdog. Did you see the Blake vs Young match the other night? Blake owns the US Open crowd and they were actually cheering for Young. I have to admit I wouldn't have minded seeing Young win. |

NYC is always good on cheering on new talent.
Coin needs to work on her service motion a bit - I'm not sure if it was nerves or what, but she messed up a LOT of her tosses today, and she has a hitch that I think causes that. Good on her though. |

I'm sitting here wondering if you guys are forgetting that Ivanovic had (still has, to a slight degree?) an injury to her hand which debilitated her to the
point where she was barely able to hold a racquet a month or two ago. She's not in fit 'playing shape', basically. It's an unfortunate
circumstance for her, but she'll bounce right back after some time off, and be fine. I'm really looking forward to the YEC's come November; I hope
that Sharapova's well-fit and able to play then, as well (even though I read a snippet today saying that she'd be out for 'the remainder of the
year'... I've still got to wonder if she'll skip the YEC's if she's in well-enough shape to give it a try).
Lots of 3rd Round action on Friday - the matches are starting to get really, really good. |

BEST SECOND ROUND BOOT EVER <333333. Such a random person to take out the apparent best women's tennis player, and she'll probably be eliminated
next round too <3.
Regardless of her injury (and it was a thumb injury, suck it up bitch you are "world's #1") she had the olympics off to rest it. She also played pretty decent today. If her opponent wasn't hitting these incrediable shots or holding her composure (being down 0-40 on her own serve during the third set), she probably could have gotten away with the win. Hopefully Jelena gets out this round (with the way she was playing it wouldn't be a surpise) so Serena can retain her #1 status <3. She has been so irrevelant these last like 5 years and this year she has really came back to form. Although I wanted her to win 6-0 in the 2nd set but whatever. She was probably thinking about the last time she was designing at Aneres during the game she lost and then remembered where she was. "Me and Venus are racing against Eli and Payton, but were uhhh better than them so whatever. OOO I know you guys like Eli, I do too, but we are better!" |
