also, you really can't upgrade laptops so look to be buying a completely new one in about 4 or 5 years.

storage, bus speed, processor speed, memory speed, graphics card speed. It's not even close. And if I want it to be faster, one hour later it will be.

I'm just predicting bilky - I've had them knock books heavier that a laptop off tables as well as lamps, sp I'm figuring a laptop would be
easy-peasy for them

get the idea.
Another great story. I'm full of them.

Nope, like V said, you can piece part your upgrade. Provided, of course, you didn't buy some proprietary POS.

The thing is DHC isn't going to be doing anything that is going to warrant doing upgrades. If she needs a bigger HD she can get an external. Only gamers
need those big honking desktop PCs. Just get the extended warranty so you don't have to worry about the expensive stuff.

PCs are still cheaper than laptops - I'm not sure where she's looking, but even Best Buy, Fry's etc have cheap PCs

Yup. For dhc's purposes, a laptop would probably be the way to go.

Just get a laptop from Staples or Future Shop, but make sure you get the extra warranty in case your kid(s) spill something on the keyboard and fry the thing.

another reason to get a PC - I'm on my second keyboard and looking to get a third for this PC and it's about 2 years old

why is that a reason to get a desktop
laptop keyboards don't just "go bad' |

why is that a reason to get a desktop Not when mommy buys you a new one every school year. |

Keyboards go bad because they generally get knocked around and onto the floor. Unless your a total fuck up you're not going to be tossing the laptop
keyboard around.

I'm glad I have a laptop and a desktop.
I love my laptop when it works. Unfortunately, it's had a BSOD problem since about 2 months after I bought it. I've already completely re-installed the OS which helped it for a while. The problem has returned now so it's going back to Dell whether they want to take it or not. They're going to replace it because I'm NOT reinstalling the OS again. It's a processor problem they refuse to acknowledge! Other than that little issue, I'd say my laptop was one of the best purchases I've ever made. |
