I'm back to DSL, but I still have Comcast cable cause Direct TV is the 9th circle of hell here.

They all suck. I've had comcast internet cable and it was a hair faster than the DSL I had, but it was always going down and the service sucked.
I'm back to DSL, but I still have Comcast cable cause Direct TV is the 9th circle of hell here. |

TIME WARNER sucks just as much. I've never really had a problem with the internet service. Television leaves a lot to be desired and I'm strongly
considering moving over to DIRECTV or DISH.

I'll spare you my tale of woe with Comcast; I know it gotsta suck when myself, and 2 good friends who live NOWEHRE near each other have the same drama as
me though. And same story as you, merk--"Go change out you box...that didn't work? Oh, a tech'll be out in 2 weeks." FUCK THAT.
I called Comcast and canceled. THAT VERY SAME DAY they came out and picked up my HD DVR box because they needed them so badly. Dude who came out said all he does all day is pick up boxes that don't work and Comcast is shit (this is the COMCAST EMPLOYEE.) His wife works for AT&T Uverse, and he offered me a deal. So as soon as Uverse gets out here, we're in. Meanwhile, we're watching regular ("poor people's") cable that dude left on for us. Don't know what to tell you about your options--I have AT&T interwebs, and we couldn't get any Dish--too many trees. |

Internet America (AT&T DSL) works fine - I've been watching the olympics on it live and it's plenty fast

Sorry that AT&T isn't wired in close to your house yet...we switched last month, and it is fantastic. Much better than Time Warner, and less expensive.
Win.win.win.

I'm sorry you're having such a bad experience with Comcast. Not everyone is trained correctly, that is our biggest problem. I don't have any ideas
where you guys are but if your internet and On Demand is spotty, chances are you have a signal problem that you need corrected. You'll need a tech to come
out and fix it, but you have to realize how our scheduling works.
We only have so many technicians per area and they can only take so much work. Things are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. If your tv service or internet is intermittent, that's not considered a "must do" issue. All of your service has to be completely out for us to come out on the same day. That's the way it is with any provider and switching won't make things any better. Dish and Direct TV charge for techs to come out... at least ours are free. I also find it very hard to believe that a tech came out the same day to cancel. I'm fully aware of how our scheduling works and have NEVER seen that happen. Calling bullshit. |

Go to Comcast.com. There should be contact info for the Senior VP of Customer Operations listed there for your area. When I sent an e-mail, I received a call
back from someone 2 days later. She was very helpful & gave me her # to contact her directly with any problems in the future. Hope this helps.

The issue was HD DVRs got totally fucking fried, and there was a severe shortage of them. I called every single day to see if there were new boxes available; there weren't. So I canceled in the morning. That night, around 7pm the tech came out to get my box. No one told me this was happening. I just assumed I'd take my box back when I got around to it. He came to get it, took it out, and said that he used to do service calls, but his ONLY job since pretty much every Comcast box SUCKS is picking them up b/c they're short on them. I just know what happened to me and what I was told. I don't give a shit why--saved me a trip from having to deal with the remedials at the Comcast store. |

My parents got no fewer than 5 crappy HD DVR replacements from Comcast. The one they have works -- for now.
My bill for last month went up by 3 dollars. I am not happy. |
