Reward Challenge - Survivor Auction

<'Rescue Mission' plays, as the camera shows a fast-forwarded view of the sky, and then fades into an aerial view of a tropical island. The camera rapidly zooms in on the beach, where two benches can be seen set up. A close-up view of a gavel being pounded down is then shown, before the camera shows wallets with the castaways' names on them. Jeff is shown>

Jeff Probst: <talking loudly> Come on in, guys! <The camera abruptly switches angles to show the seven Rubak members walking into the challenge area. Quick close-up views of both Brooke and Alexis are shown, before the camera zooms out to show the entire tribe gathering into a group on their teal mat. Another view of Jeff is then shown next>

Jeff Probst: You guys ready to get to today's challenge? <Mary is shown smiling and nodding, as the castaways respond with an enthusiastic "Yes!" The camera then returns to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Today's challenge is an Auction. <The castaways are now shown clapping and cheering excitedly> You'll each begin with 500 U.S. dollars; <The camera shows Alexis listening intently, as Jeff takes a short pause> the same currency that's used here in Micronesia, <A quick clip of Mikey is then shown> but that may not be how much you end up with. <An eerie shift in the music occurs, as the camera focuses back in on Jeff> One at a time, you'll come behind this wall <A view of a wall in front of a stand with several colored bottles on it is shown> and secretly distribute your money to the other Survivors by placing bills into marked containers. <A close-up view of Tracy is shown, before the camera turns to Brooke> Keep in mind, the more money someone has, the more likely they are to get the items they want at the auction. <Aras is then shown staring into the distance, before the camera zooms out to show all seven Rubak members, and then goes back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: One other thing: <short pause> the person who has the lowest amount of money once it's been distributed will not participate in the auction, and will instead go to Exile Island. <A prominent sound is heard, as the camera shows Aras with a thoughtful look on his face> You'll give whatever money you have another tribe member before you go. <Alexis is then shown looking towards Brooke and Eliza> Then we'll get to the fun part… <The camera rapidly scrolls across the castaways, and then cuts back to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Ready to get started? <Another wide view of the entire Rubak tribe is shown>

Eliza: <excitedly> Yes! <The camera then switches angles to show Jeff>

Jeff Probst: First step: <short pause> distributing your money. <A clip of the seven colored saki bottles is shown, before the camera turns to show Jeff pointing to Tracy>

Jeff Probst: Tracy, come back here; <Tracy can now be seen stepping forward> you'll find six saki bottles. <Tracy is then shown walking behind the wall and counting out her money. She then places $300 into Aras' container> Put your money into any bottle you wish other than your own. <The camera fades out to show Mary placing $160 into Brooke's container> You can give all of your money to one person; <Mikey is shown placing $200 into Mary's container> you can give a little bit to everybody; <A clip of Brooke is shown next, as she places $400 into Aras' container, and $20 into Eliza's container> however you want. <The camera shows Eliza placing $140 to Alexis' container> Remember, the person with the lowest dollar amount will not participate in the auction, <Aras is now shown placing $200 into Mikey's container> and will instead go to Exile Island. <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera shows Alexis placing $60 into Brooke's container. Jeff Probst: Okay; <short pause> everybody has distributed their money. <A wide view of all seven Rubak members holding their sealed saki bottles is now shown> You have your containers in front of you. <A close-up view of Brooke is shown, before the camera scrolls down to her bottle> Let's see the results: <The camera then returns to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Tracy, open your bottle. <Tracy is shown unsealing her saki bottle and dumping out the $20 bills> Let's see how much you got… <The other Rubak members can be seen looking towards Tracy, before the camera cuts back to her>

Tracy: 340, Jeff. <Eliza raises her eyebrows and nods her head, as Jeff is shown again>

Jeff Probst: Tracy gets a total of $340. <Tracy can be heard saying "Thanks," as the camera continues to focus on Jeff for a few seconds>

Jeff Probst: Mary… <A close-up view of Mary holding her stack of money is shown next>

Mary: $680. <Brooke can be seen shifting her expression, before the camera shows Aras smiling, and then goes back to Jeff>

Mikey: 280. <Alexis is shown with a thoughtful look on her face, before the camera zooms out to show the entire Rubak tribe, and then cuts back to Jeff again>

Brooke: Only 220, Jeff… <Another view of Jeff is then shown next>

Jeff Probst: Brooke with only $220; <A pensive Tracy can be seen staring ahead> that's the lowest thus far. <The camera now cuts ahead to show a clip of Eliza holding her stack of bills>

Jeff Probst: Eliza with a total of $260. <Eliza can be seen looking down at the money in her hand, as Jeff can be heard saying "Aras." Aras now unseals his saki bottle and turns it upside down, as many bills pour out of it and a few gasps are heard>

Aras: Did I just win the lottery?! <laughs> <The camera shows Aras counting his money, and then switches angles to show Eliza, Brooke, and Mikey watching him>

Mikey: Holy crap! That's a lot of money… <Aras continues to count the money aloud, as he can be heard saying "A grand," and then keeps counting>

Aras: 1120… <A surprised Jeff is shown raising his eyebrows, as the camera turns to him>

Jeff Probst: Wow! Aras with $1120! <Mary is shown with a thoughtful look on her face, before the camera cuts back to Aras, who turns towards his tribemates>

Aras: Smart move, guys; <short pause> that was smart… <The camera shows Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: What does that tell you, Aras? <Another view of Aras is now shown>

Aras: Well, <short pause> either they want me to eat a lot of food and get fat, <laughs> <Mary is now shown listening intently> or they want to keep me away from Exile Island and the hidden Immunity Idol… <There is a prominent sound, as the camera shows an expressionless Brooke, and then turns back to Jeff, who subtly nods>

Jeff Probst: Alright, Alexis… <A close-up view of Alexis is shown, as she holds up her money>

Alexis: I have 600. <An uneasy Aras is shown turning his head, before the camera shows quick clips of both Tracy and Eliza, and then focuses back in on Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Well, I said before the challenge that the person with the least amount of money goin' to Exile Island: <The camera shows a wide view of the entire Rubak tribe, and then zooms in on Mikey, as he nods> that's Brooke. <A prominent sound is heard, as Brooke smiles and nods her head. The camera then cuts back to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: <to Brooke> Before you go, give your money to one person… <Brooke is shown>

Brooke: I can't divide it up evenly? <Aras makes a face, before Jeff shakes his head>

Jeff Probst: <to Brooke> Nope, you can't. <Tracy is now shown looking towards Brooke> I'm sorry. <The camera now focuses back in on a thoughtful-looking Brooke>

Brooke: I'm gonna give it to Eliza. <Brooke hands her stack of money to a smiling Eliza, as Eliza hugs her and says "Thanks." A close-up view of a smirking Aras is shown, before the camera zooms out to show all seven Rubak members, and then returns to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Brooke, get your stuff; <short pause> head on out. <A wide view of the challenge area is shown, as Brooke can be seen walking away from her tribemates> Boat's waitin' on ya.

Alexis: Bye, girl… <Alexis is shown waving, before the camera switches angles to show Jeff>

Jeff Probst: <to Brooke> You'll return to this game at the next Immunity Challenge. <A clip of Brooke climbing into the back of a boat is shown, before it speeds away from shore. The camera shows a fast-forwarded view of the sky, as the clouds rapidly shift, and then fades out to show the six Rubak members sitting on two rows of benches. Jeff is now shown again>

Jeff Probst: Okay; <short pause> you guys ready to get to the Auction? <Tracy is shown smiling and nodding her head, as the castaways respond with an enthusiastic "Yes!">

Mikey: Let's have some fun! <laughs> <The camera then cuts back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Here's how it works: <short pause> you each now have an amount of money, ranging from $280 to $1120. <The camera shows both Aras and Mikey> That money is yours to keep or spend here at the Survivor Auction. <The camera now turns to Alexis> Bidding will be in increments of $20. <Jeff is then shown again> There is no sharing of money or items. <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera shows Tracy widening her eyes, and then shows rapid clips of Mikey, Eliza, and Aras, who all display surprised expressions on their faces>

Mikey: Ouch… <Eliza and Tracy now exchange frustrated glances. The camera shows Aras looking around, and then goes back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Auction will end abruptly and without warning. <Jeff is shown reaching down and pulling out a bowl of sugared candy. He then sets it down on the counter>

Jeff Probst: First item: <short pause> a bowl of candy. <The camera shows Eliza gasping, and then abruptly switches angles to show Aras>

Aras: I'll open it up at 20… <Another close-up view of Eliza is then shown next>

Aras: Open it at 100, Jeff. <The camera then cuts ahead to show a clip of Mikey>

Jeff Probst: Going once, twice; <The camera shows a clip of Jeff slamming the gavel down on the counter> sold to Aras again. <laughs> <Aras is then shown cheering loudly, as the camera turns to both Eliza and Mikey, and then zooms out to show the entire challenge area> Come on up. <Aras is seen walking over to Jeff, as he counts out his money and hands it to Jeff. Aras then takes a drink of the protein shake, before the camera cuts ahead to show him sitting back down, and then returns back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Ready for the next item? <Several castaways can be heard saying "Yes," as the camera scrolls across them. Jeff is now shown placing a covered item onto the counter>

Jeff Probst: That's a tall glass of water taken right from your well. <A frustrated Alexis is shown shifting her expression, as the camera shows a glass of water with ice cubes in it> It has been boiled… <The camera shows Alexis picking up the glass, and then switches angles to show her five other Rubak tribemates, as Aras says "Oh, man">

Mary: <to Alexis> At least it's cold! <Alexis now sits back down and takes a sip of water>

Alexis: It's not even that cold… <There is a prominent drumbeat, as the camera shows Jeff raising his eyebrows. He then sets another covered item down onto the counter>

Jeff Probst: Next item: <short pause> also covered… <The camera turns back to Aras>

Aras: 200… <An eerie shift in the music occurs, as the camera shows Eliza rolling her eyes, and then switches angles to show a thoughtful-looking Tracy>

Tracy: 220. <The camera shows another view of Aras, as Mikey says "240">

Aras: 260. <A wide view of several castaways is shown, before the camera returns to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Alright; next item: <Jeff now sets a plate with a cheeseburger, French fries, pickles, and ketchup down on the counter, as gasps and awes are heard>

Tracy: <to Eliza> I gave him 3. <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera shows Aras returning back to the benches, and then cuts back to an amused Jeff>

Jeff Probst: You know, I kinda figured you might like the cheeseburger… <Jeff is now shown reaching down and setting down an identical cheeseburger item>

Aras: That's not fair, Jeff! <laughs> I just spent $500! <The camera turns to Eliza>

Eliza: <to Aras> Please, you could afford it… <Aras takes another large bite out of his cheeseburger, before the camera switches angles to show Alexis>

Alexis: 400… <The camera camera now scrolls forward to show Mikey whispering to Eliza>

Mikey: <whispering> That's all she has; <pause> you have to bid… <Eliza whispers "Okay">

Eliza: Sorry Alexis: 420. <The camera shows an angry Alexis putting her head down, and then cuts back to Jeff, as he pounds the gavel down>

Jeff Probst: Sold to Eliza; <Eliza now jumps up and cheers excitedly> finally somebody else in this game... <Eliza can be seen walking over to Jeff, who turns towards Mikey>

Jeff Probst: <to Mikey> It's not easy having the lowest amount of money, is it? <The camera shows a close-up view of a delighted Aras, and then turns back to Mikey>

Mikey: No, it's not… <Eliza now hands Jeff her money, as he puts it into his pocket>

Jeff Probst: <to Eliza> Thank you. <Eliza is shown smiling anxiously> It may be $80 cheaper than Aras' cheeseburger, but it's still just as good… <Jeff now says "Take a bite," as Eliza bites into the cheeseburger and then quickly chews it. Tracy is then shown next>

Tracy: Well spent, Eliza… <Eliza can now be seen sitting back down, as the camera scrolls across the Rubak members, some of whom are still eating>

Eliza: I'm dipping my fries… <laughs> <Eliza dips one of her French fries into ketchup and then eats it. The camera then shows Aras taking another bite of his cheeseburger>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Aras almost done with the cheeseburger… <Aras is shown chewing>

Aras: <mumbling> I've still got 50 bucks here… <laughs> <A small piece of cheeseburger is shown in Aras' hand, before the camera cuts back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Next item: <short pause> gonna stay covered. <Jeff now sets another covered item down on the counter, before the camera switches angles to show Alexis>

Alexis: 360. <A prominent sound is heard, as Jeff slams the gavel down on the counter>

Jeff Probst: Sold to Alexis! <Alexis stands up and cheers> Come on down… <Tracy is shown shaking her head disappointedly, as the camera zooms out to show the entire challenge area, and Alexis walks up to Jeff>

Alexis: <excitedly> Awesome! <Tracy asks "What is it?" before Jeff is shown again>

Jeff Probst: Hot fudge sundae… <Eliza is now shown raising her eyebrows and gasping>

Eliza: Holy [censored]! <The camera abruptly cuts ahead to show Alexis sitting back down, and

then eating a spoonful of the ice cream. Mikey can be seen looking back at Alexis, and then turning his head away as he says "Ice cream…" Jeff is then shown again>

Jeff Probst: For this item only, you can split it with one other person: <The camera scrolls across each of the Rubak members, as Tracy says "Mike," and Jeff sets down a large platter of food> that's chicken parmigiana, spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread… <Tracy is shown again>

Tracy: 620… <The camera switches angles to show Mary, as she whispers to Aras>

Mary: We'll go 640. <Tracy is now shown tensing her expression, before the camera cuts back to a disappointed Mikey, and then returns to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Going once, going twice; <Jeff now pounds the gavel down on the counter> sold to Mary and Aras for $640! <Tracy can then be seen staring ahead>

Jeff Probst: That's it! The Survivor Auction is over… <'Brothers Of The Sea' begins to play, as the camera shows Jeff pounding the gavel down one last time, and then switches angles to show the six Rubak members, as Mikey disappointedly stares ahead>

Mikey: That sucks! <Tracy is shown shrugging it off, before the camera turns to Aras>

Aras: Thanks for all the money, guys… <The camera now goes back to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Finish up what you're eating. <A clip of Aras twirling spaghetti around his fork is shown, before the camera shows Alexis finishing her sundae> Head on back to camp. <A wide view of the six Rubak members is then shown, as they stand up from the benches and begin to walk out of the jungle clearing. The camera zooms in on Aras, and then scrolls over to both Mikey and Tracy again. The screen then fades out>

Jeff Probst: We'll now bring in Brooke, returning once again from Exile Island. <The camera immediately turns to show Brooke walking up the beach, as her tribemates can be heard clapping. A close-up view of Eliza is shown, before the camera shows Brooke stepping back onto the Rubak tribe's mat, and then cuts back to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Alright; <short pause> you guys ready to get to today's challenge? <A wide view of all seven Rubak members is now shown, as they anxiously nod their heads>

Alexis: Yes… <The camera focuses in on Alexis, before scrolling back over to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: First things first, Aras; <Aras is shown with a subtle smile on his face, as Jeff pauses> I'll take back the necklace. <The camera then shows Jeff walking over to Aras, who reaches his arms back to remove the Immunity necklace from his neck>

Aras: It's stuck on there, Jeff… <laughs> <A prominent sound is heard, as the camera shows Eliza shifting her expression, and then goes back to Aras, as he hands the necklace to Jeff. A close-up view of a contemplative Tracy is shown, before the camera switches angles to show Jeff setting the Immunity necklace back up on its stand>

Jeff Probst: Once again, Immunity is back up for grabs. <The camera shows Alexis nodding her head, and then rapidly scrolls across all seven castaways, before returning to Jeff>

Tribal Council #13 - Rubak Tribe

<'Tally the Vote' begins to play, as the camera shows a fast-forwarded view of the sun setting in the darkening sky, and then fades into a faraway view of the Tribal Council village. The aerial camera scrolls closer to it, before the seven Rubak members can be seen making their way across the wooden dock. A front view of both Alexis and Mary is then shown, before the camera cuts ahead to show the castaways walking in to the main Tribal Council area. Eliza sets her torch down, before the camera abruptly switches angles to show Jeff>

Jeff Probst: We'll now bring in the members of the jury: <An uneasy Alexis is shown turning her head, before the camera scrolls over to Ian and Kathy, who both walk into sight> Ian, Kathy, and Sherea, <A close-up view of a stern-looking Sherea is then shown, as she walks past the remaining Rubak members> voted out at the last Tribal Council. <The three jury members can be seen sitting down, before a prominent drumbeat is heard, and the camera abruptly turns to show Brooke tensing her expression. Jeff is then shown again>

Jeff Probst: 33 days in, we started with 20; <short pause> we're now down to 7. <A close-up view of Aras is now shown, before the camera switches angles to show another view of Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Let's talk about threats at this point in the game: <A wide view of the entire Rubak tribe is shown> Aras, <short pause> looking at physical threats, obviously you're high on the list, <Alexis can then be seen turning towards Aras> if not the highest. <The camera switches angles to show Jeff again> It's gotta be a little worrying not to have Immunity… <The camera now shows Aras subtly nodding his head>

Aras: Yeah; <short pause> if you wanna know who's sitting in the hot seat tonight, you know, my ass is on fire! <A few laughs are heard, as the camera shows Eliza smiling> Um, I fully expect that I might be going home tonight. <Aras is shown> To be honest, I'd be more surprised to not be voted off than to be voted off… <laughs> <The camera shows an alarmed Alexis raising her arm to speak, and then turns back to Jeff, who motions towards her>

Jeff Probst: Alexis… <The camera then focuses back in on Alexis again>

Alexis: Yeah, Aras is hands-down the biggest physical threat, <A close-up view of an uneasy Aras is now shown> but like, there's also someone like Tracy, who's by far the biggest jury threat, <Tracy can be seen turning her head, and shifting her expression> or Brooke, who could potentially have the hidden Immunity Idol. <Brooke then raises her eyebrows, before the camera shows Mikey looking up> You know, I feel like everybody poses some kind of threat at this point, and to just focus on Aras as "the only threat" or "the biggest threat," I think, is a bit inaccurate. <A prominent sound is heard, as the camera scrolls across several Rubak members, and then returns to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: <to Alexis> Tell me about Mikey B. <The camera now shows Mikey turning his head> What kind of threat does he pose? <Another close-up view of Alexis is shown next>

Alexis: Um, I think Mikey is a physical threat like Aras, <A burning torch is shown, before the camera zooms out to show Eliza> although not quite on the same scale, <A prominent sound is heard, as Mikey smirks> but he's also well-liked around camp and could probably win a jury vote against almost anyone left right now. <Mikey is shown with a surprised look on his face>

Mikey: <to Alexis> Thanks. That's news to me… <laughs> <The camera shows Brooke looking up, and then goes back to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Aras, <long pause> do you think that the level of competition that you bring, and your winning the first two individual Immunities put pressure on everybody else to say, <The camera shows several Rubak members> you know, "I've gotta compete at the same level as this guy and, and beat him?" <A close-up view of an uneasy Tracy is shown, before the camera scrolls back over to Aras>

Aras: You know, that's ironic, Jeff, because when I go into a challenge, the only person I'm competing against is myself, <Alexis is now shown staring ahead> yet it took them working together as four people today to beat me. <A prominent sound is heard, as a surprised Jeff raises his eyebrows> Had it not been for the four against one, I very well could have won that one again and there would have been someone else going tonight… <The camera shows Tracy with a subtle smile on her face, and then scrolls back over to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Brooke, <short pause> is being a strong physical competitor enough to earn the votes you need to win this game? <A close-up view of Kathy is shown, as she perks up. The camera then switches angles to show Brooke again>

Brooke: I think there's so much more mental stuff that goes into it, <Tracy can be seen subtly nodding her head, as she gazes into the distance> and that's what makes Survivor such a tough game to play, <Sherea is now shown shifting her expression> but <long pause> there's a reason the game is not about surviving the challenges; it's surviving the people… <A view of an uneasy Ian is then shown, before the camera cuts back to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Tracy, give me an update on what's going on at camp. <The camera continues to show Jeff> How has camp life changed since the last time you were here? <A close-up view of Tracy is then shown, as the camera focuses in on her>

Tracy: It's fractured. You know, the tribe's split in half, <Eliza nods her head> and things have gotten so bad that Aras, Alexis, and Mary, <Mary shifts her expression> they've actually resorted to stealing our food and hiding it, and <pause> so we can't eat. <There is a prominent sound, as the camera shows a surprised Jeff, and then turns to the jury> I mean, it's just mindboggling… <A wide view of the entire tribe is shown, as Aras raises his arm to speak>

Aras: But to be fair, this all stemmed from a comment that Eliza made, <An annoyed Eliza is now shown rolling her eyes> so it wasn't us, like, trying to be malicious at all. We were just reacting to what was said, <The camera returns to Aras> and then it turned into "Maybe we can use this as an advantage…" <The camera abruptly cuts back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: But, hiding food? Alexis, this doesn't sound like a happy tribe… <Eliza is shown looking towards an expressionless Alexis, as the camera scrolls over to her again>

Alexis: There's definitely a dark cloud hanging over the group right now. <The camera shows Mary, as she looks up> You know, there's some conflict between certain people and certain personalities, and Aras, Mary, and I are scrambling; <Alexis takes a short pause, as the camera zooms out to show the entire Rubak tribe> you know, we feel like we need to do whatever we need to do, um, as anyone would in our situation, <The camera turns to Tracy> and unfortunately, that meant hiding some of the rice and beans… <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera shows the three jury members, and then returns to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Aras, <short pause> how does that benefit you? <The camera shows Aras listening intently> Because if the tribe as a whole is eating less, that includes you… <A wide view of the entire Rubak tribe is then shown for a few seconds>

Aras: To be honest, Jeff, I've been getting most of the fish and a lot of the coconuts that we've had for the past 33 days, <Tracy is shown shifting her expression> so my thought was: <short pause> one, if we hide the rice and the beans, which we've had as a food source to kindof fall back on, then they'll either keep me around to catch fish, <The camera shows a close-up view of an unimpressed Eliza> or they'll still vote me out but hey, at least they'll be a little hungrier without me around. <An eerie sound is heard, as Brooke puffs out her cheeks>

Jeff Probst: So Mary, <long pause> how does that give you an advantage strategically? <A close-up view of Mary is now shown next>

Mary: Well, the strategy was, you know, "If you vote out Aras, we're not going to give back the food, <A prominent sound is heard, as Jeff nods his head> so um, you better vote someone out of your own alliance <Brooke can be seen making a face> or else it's gonna be a long, you know, last six days without anything to eat." <Another view of Jeff is then shown again>

Jeff Probst: And has that weighed on your mind tonight, Brooke? <Brooke shakes her head>

Brooke: Honestly, it's had no impact. <Alexis is shown with a blank look on her face, as Brooke adds "None at all"> I think we all feel, at this point, like we can do the last six days just on coconut if we have to… <The camera then returns to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: So Aras, if you absolutely knew it was you tonight; <Aras can be heard saying "It pretty much is"> they told you right now you're going, <Mikey is then shown looking towards Aras> is there anything you'd want to say to convince these guys otherwise? <A view of a burning torch is shown, before the camera scrolls over to Aras>

Aras: I would think they're all cowards because they're just scared of me and they don't want to be punished severely in the rest of the challenges. <laughs> <An eerie shift in the music occurs, as the camera shows Brooke tensing her expression, and then cuts back to a thoughtful-looking Jeff, who hesitates for a few seconds before posing another question>

Jeff Probst: Brooke, <short pause> what specifically worries you about tonight's vote? <A view of the entire Rubak tribe is shown, before zooms back in on Brooke>

Brooke: Well, we all know that the tribe is divided four and three, <Mary is shown gazing into the distance> but I mean, it only takes one person to flip the entire game around since there is an odd number of us remaining, <The camera shows Ian raising his eyebrows, and then scrolls across several Rubak members> so I definitely think tonight's vote is gonna be a really close-call. <Mikey is shown with a conflicted look on his face, before the camera turns back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Eliza, <short pause> in a perfect world, what happens tonight when you get back to camp? <The camera abruptly switches angles to show Eliza>

Eliza: Jeff, in a perfect world, we would vote off all three of them tonight. <laughs> <A close-up view of a wide-eyed and smiling Kathy is shown> You know, I think that's the only way that we'll have some peace and unity around camp… <The camera shows rapid views of each of the castaways, and then returns back to Jeff>

Tracy: I'm gonna keep it… <Aras is shown smirking, before the camera returns to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: It is time to vote; <short pause> Eliza, you're up. <Eliza can be seen standing up and walking past the central fire, before the camera shows a close-up view of a tense-looking Sherea, and then switches angles to show Brooke again>

Aras: Even as I make my final vote in this game, I continue to play strategically, <The camera shows a close-up view of a nervous Brooke> and ironically, you've got some fitting initials there, Brookester, because you are full of it… <laughs> <A mysterious shift in the music occurs, as the camera shows a close-up view of a Micronesian mask, and then fades out to show Alexis arriving at the voting confessional and picking up the pen. She begins to write the name 'Brooke' down, as the camera fades out to show both Brooke and Eliza, and then abruptly cuts ahead to show Tracy holding up her vote: Aras>

Tracy: Aras, you're an amazing athlete; <short pause> you've won Immunity twice. <The camera now shows a clip of Aras> I admire you as a physical competitor, but I'll never stand a chance with you in the game. <Tracy now folds her vote in half> Sorry… <A close-up view of the central fire flickering is shown, as the camera zooms in on it, and then fades out to show Mary casting her vote. The camera continues to focus on her, as she writes a name down on her piece of parchment: Brooke. EPISODE 12 NOTES:

Here are a few important notes about Episode 12 and the rest of this story. Please be sure to read them so that you have a better understanding of what is going on.

1) So there is Episode 12. Hopefully this episode was not just a boring "pagonging" episode because I definitely thought there were some entertaining moments in it, and I really tried to cause some doubt at the end about whether or not Mikey would vote for Brooke. I do want to apologize to some people because I know there were quite a few Aras supporters (like MasterDarkNinja and nelehrocks, and others), in addition to the people that wanted his alliance gone. Many of you did predict that Aras would go this episode, so congratulations on that. MDN even correctly predicted that the alliance of four would play dirty at the IC to make sure Aras didn't win it. Great job!

2) I'll be working on updating everything in the thread in the next two days. My responses to comments might be a bit shorter than usual because I'm trying to get as much done on Episode 13 as I can right away, since I have some busy days coming up.

3) The rest of the notes will go through the whole episode in order, like usual, and I'll also answer a few questions that I think you might have about what is going on right now:

4) As most of my episodes do, this one started with a scene after Tribal Council. We hear a confessional from Mary about how she was tricked into using the hidden Immunity Idol (which is true), and how she hated to give the 4-way alliance a feeling of victory. She also has two confrontations with Eliza in this scene: one about the Tribal Council and the other one about a pillow, which was of less importance and almost got cut out of the episode. Something I realized after this episode is that my fanfics tend to have more post-TC arguments than the real show does (or at least, I show them more often), and I'm going to try to cut down on this in future seasons unless it's necessary. It seems a little repetitive to me to always have someone bitching about the votes, but maybe I'm the only one who thinks this. Anyway, there was also a short scene in there (that I cut down significantly) with Brooke and Eliza apologizing to each other about the Sherea thing and agreeing that it will be B/E/M/T to the end.

5) The Day 31 scene: there's a lot going on here. It starts with Eliza and Brooke bashing Aras/Mary's relationship, and this is nothing we haven't heard before. Aras then talks about not remembering feeling so depleted in Panama, before we get to Aras and Alexis accidentally losing one of the chickens. They aren't too concerned about it because they know they're at risk of being voted out anyway, but this, unbeknownst to them, sparks a whole series of food-related conflicts. First, Tracy and Eliza are discussing it and Tracy says she thinks Aras let it go on purpose because he knew he'd win Immunity if nobody else has protein. Now, we have no evidence of this in the story. It's a very remote chance given Aras' confessional, but still possible - although probably not. However, this causes Eliza to make a remark that they shouldn't feed A/M/A then if Aras is just going to beat them. Again, we don't know if she's serious or if she's just saying that, but Alexis overhears it and runs over to her alliance and tells them what Eliza said. Aras then says "We'll fight fire with fire," and they basically decide that, if they're not going to be fed, they're going to steal the food. BTW, Eliza and Tracy DID sneak extra clam meat to Mikey, if anyone caught that in there. So Aras' group takes the rice and beans and hides it in the jungle while the other four are all talking in the water.

6) Then we skip ahead to a treemail scene, where Eliza and Mikey, who don't know about the hidden food yet, get treemail and find out there's an auction. Aras has a lighthearted confessional talking about how treemail breaks up the mood at camp and gives people something fun to talk about other than strategizing. Wrong! It gives the 4 alliance something TO strategize about: Tracy brings up a plan that instead of everyone outbidding each other, the alliance should all work together to win all of the food items to keep the food away from Aras' group (but especially Aras).

Honestly, I'm surprised that no one has ever tried this on the real show. It really does make sense to me. Why would you want to outbid people in your own alliance and waste more of everyone's money - assuming sharing is allowed, which I'll get to in a minute…

7) So now we get to the Auction and there are a few twists to it. First of all, let me say that I wasn't sure if I was going to do an Auction again in this season. I had one in China and it was getting really boring and repetitive for me, so I wasn't going to do one again unless I could come up with something different to incorporate into it. One of my favorite ideas was the shuffling of the money around and having the person with the lowest amount go to Exile Island. For one, the Immunity Idol is back out there now so you don't want certain people to get the idol, but then you have to basically give them money and award them with food. Then you have to think about who everyone else is going to give their money to because you still want yourself and your alliance to end up with something so that they can bid. So it's end up being a huge mental game, and I would love to see it done on the real show. I decided that I didn't want everyone to just start with $500. The other thing I considered was having an accuracy contest to have people earn money, but I figured that Aras and a few other people would purposely throw it so that they could go to Exile Island, and the Auction would fail because no one would have any money. That's why I made the accuracy challenge the Immunity.

The other twist was that, despite plans to do otherwise, sharing of food and money were not allowed. This is because of the money distribution - people could just give their money away to someone and then just share it, which would defeat the purpose of the money distribution.

8) As for the items up for Auction, I don't think anything was too out of the ordinary there, but I also like the idea of putting a good item up twice in a row after someone bids a ton of money on it. It would be fun.

Going back to Exile Island for a second, I was really tired of having someone win a note that said "Choose someone to go to EI and take all of their money." The real show used that at least twice, I used it once, and I needed something original because I don't like to see the same twists used over and over, so I really thought this was a good idea.

And I wish that Alexis somehow didn't end up with that ice cream sundae because I would have loved for her to only end up with a glass of water.

Anyway, Tracy's Auction plan backfired majorly when Aras' alliance got most of the money and most of the food, whereas Tracy and Mikey got nothing. And Brooke went to Exile, which I'll get to very soon.

9) So we go back to camp where Tracy talks about the Auction plan failing and that Aras got the most money to keep him away from Exile (Aras knew it too). There's then another confrontation when Eliza discovers that the food is missing and she confronts Aras' group about it. Eliza also says that Aras ate way more than her at the Auction and she didn't bitch about it at all, so it was personal when Alexis was upset about Eliza winning Rewards. Besides that, Alexis says they hid the food because of Eliza's comment (everyone was really just being paranoid), and Eliza says she doesn't know what they're talking about. I'm going to leave it open to your own interpretation as to whether it really was a minor issue and Eliza didn't remember saying that, or if she was just playing dumb to save face. In the end, Eliza said she'd rather starve for the last eight days than get the food back from them, blah, blah, blah, and that was probably one of the longest scenes I've had without a single confessional.

10) So now we go to Exile Island. I really don't have much to say about this except that Brooke does find the hidden Immunity Idol. Again, the disadvantage of setting up the clues this way (and the reason why I wouldn't do it again) is that people can find the idol WAY too easily. So Brooke talks a lot about finding it, in her bland way, apparently, and she says that "if you feel too safe in this game, you're probably next on the chopping block." This was related to her being targeted later in the Episode and I wanted some of you to think that her edit was leading up to her being blindsided. Some of you probably would have preferred that to Aras going, but sorry it didn't happen. So Brooke has the idol now and she did tell her alliance about it.

11) It's Day 33 now and things have been a little smoothed over in the tribe. Tracy and Alexis go to get treemail together, and they find out that it's going to be an accuracy competition. Using the basic idea of Tracy's failed Auction plan, she now comes up with a NEW plan based on this treemail. Also, with her knowledge of Survivor, she knows that you either win the challenge by eliminating other people's X number of targets, or by breaking all of your own first. So she says, if it's elimination, everybody go for Aras first and someone in our alliance will win. If it's not, then focus on breaking one person's targets and that person will win. Ironically, this is what the women should have done in real Micronesia at Final Six when they didn't want Erik to win that challenge. Again, I really think people DO need to start working together in challenges - there's usually so many ways that people can do it (either directly or indirectly), and I've been wanting to have this happen in one of my stories for a long time. It happened a bit in Exile Island, but not on this scale where one person was clearly targeted to not win.

12) Unlike the Auction plan, this one DOES work and Tracy wins Immunity with help from Brooke, Eliza, and Mikey (thinking about it now, I think they each hit one of her targets, although I didn't intentionally plan that. I probably wouldn't have made them all hit one, actually). Aras DEFINITELY knew exactly what was going on, and as he said in a later confessional, he pretty much accepted that he was going right away.

I had to have them break 5 tiles (usually it's 3 in the real show) because it would have been way too short, otherwise, with other people breaking Tracy's tiles. I needed to draw it out so Aras' group to catch on and know what was happening.

13) Now we go back to camp where Brooke reveals she found the hidden Immunity Idol, and Tracy has a confessional about the plan working this time. Maybe she's gloating a little bit? I don't know. I'll leave that up to you to decide. But Aras basically goes and tells them that he thinks it was a great move, but he's only sortof being serious about it and he's also inflating his own ego by saying that he was so good and they would never beat him otherwise. He basically says that he wouldn't feel proud about winning Immunity if other people just gave it to him. Tracy brushes it off and says Aras won using his biggest asset (athleticism, physical strength) and she beat him [at the challenge] using her biggest asset (strategy and smarts). Aras thinks she means she beat him at the game, although this wasn't true, and he says "He's going down swinging…"

Quick note before moving on: I liked the quote about landing on Boardwalk with a hotel. Everyone hates when that happens!

14) So Aras' best chance of staying in the game is to convince Mikey to blindside Brooke. Remember, Aras is only ASSUMING Brooke has the idol, whereas Mikey KNOWS she does, but he doesn't tell Aras this.

So why does Aras pick Mikey to try and sway?

Although it didn't ever come across in the episodes, the two had a fairly decent relationship going and they definitely didn't hate each other like some of the girls did/do. This is also why Alexis said Mikey would win a jury vote, BTW. But Aras tells Mikey that if Aras goes and Mikey is the last guy, the girls will scramble to bring the 5 women together and vote Mikey out at Final Six. This is supposed to make Mikey want to keep Aras and get rid of one of the women (Brooke). Also, he says that they should get rid of the hidden Immunity Idol while Brooke doesn't expect it (she obviously is convinced that Aras is going). And considering Brooke's earlier confessional, I wanted you to think that she might get blindsided here.

15) Like Episode 9 of China last season where I tried to really make it look like someone (probably Sherea??) would sway from her alliance, this was another example of where "editing doesn't always tell the truth." Do I think that Mikey would ever vote off Brooke at this point? No. But yet the "editing" made it look like this was possible just so there would be some doubt at the end and it wouldn't be obvious that Aras was going. Do I think that Aras made some good points? Yes, especially when he said they'd get rid of Alexis at F4 to keep Mikey around, but it wouldn't have made sense for him to betray his other three allies when he was already in a safe spot with them.

The other thing that you didn't see is that, like Dave in Episode 1, Aras knew 100% that he was going before Tribal Council (even Mikey told him this), which is why Aras answered some of the things he did, which I'll explain.

16) Tribal Council: quite an interesting one, I think. First of all, another Aras quote that I liked when he said his ass was on fire from sitting in the hot seat. I almost made the title of the episode "My Ass Is On Fire!" because I thought it would be funny, but I also thought that made be a little too obvious that it was about Aras. Maybe not. So Aras says he'd be more surprised to NOT go home than to go home. Then Alexis chimes in and starts saying that Aras isn't the only threat and they should be looking at other people too, like Tracy (jury threat), Brooke (HII) and Mikey (physical threat/jury). I thought this was a really good point for her to bring up. Aras then says that he only competes against himself in the challenges and he probably would have won again if four people didn't gang up on him. If he thought he'd have a chance of staying, he would downplay his strength but since he knew he was going, he just wanted to say "Ha ha, I would have beat all of you guys." Important quote again: Brooke says the game is mental and it's about surviving the people, not the challenges. Then Tracy explains about the hidden food, which leads to a question each for Alexis, Aras, and Mary where they explain the strategy behind it. I didn't have room to include all of this throughout the episode but hopefully you understood the purpose. They were saying "If you vote out one of your own alliance (and not Aras), we'll give the food back. Otherwise don't eat," which is why Eliza said that she'd rather starve but the part inbetween was cut out. Then Brooke says that them hiding the food had no impact on her decision at all. They'll just eat coconut. Then Aras gets a chance to sway somebody and he simply calls them cowards for getting rid of him because he'll kick their asses. Again, he knows he's going home. Brooke says it only takes one person to flip the entire game (Mikey), and Eliza says in a perfect world, they'd get rid of all 3 of Aras' group. Tracy keeps Immunity obviously…

17) The votes are cast and I decided to show every vote except for Mikey's since I don't think any of them were a huge surprise. So it's 3 for Brooke, 3 for Aras, and then Mikey was the swing vote. I liked Aras' vote for Brooke with her initials. Well, Brooke does NOT play the idol and Aras is voted out 4-3, like a lot of people expected. This was the first non-blindside in quite a while.

18) One thing I didn't even think of until two days ago was the fact that Aras was voted off on Day 33 in Panama and in Micronesia. I don't know if that's happened for anybody else who played the game twice in the real show, but I just thought it was interesting enough to point out. I thought Aras' Final Words were pretty good. Not bitter because he knew he was going and now that the game's over, it's a relief and he doesn't have to think about all the politics anymore.

19) A LOOK AHEAD AT EPISODE 13

Hard to believe that there are only 2 episodes left. I don't want to give away much about Episode 13, but I hope it doesn't fall into the trap of the pre-finale episode not being as good as some others, which usually happens. Obviously, Mary and Alexis will be scrambling now to stay in the game and they take two very different approaches to it, which will be interesting. We're at the Final Six now - there is not long to go…
