Kathy started off her set tonight at her DFW show claiming that the rumor of Jessica quitting was false. Funny, funny show.

A Diva's Christmas Carol is circa 2000 I think. It's a yearly classic to me as much as A Christmas Story is. Heartquake!

I've read back about 4 pages and found no mention of the Dog Whisperer! Cesar was on Kathy's show, but they were also taping his show. It aired this
week and was hilarious! Cesar was very funny, and did so much more than laugh, which was about all he did on Kathy's show. In fact, they were both funny.
One of the interesting things he said was that Kathy's house was like a sanctuary - very calm and quiet inside.
I think the episode airs again Friday, August 1 at 4pm on the National Geographic Channel. NG website has a little about the episode but not really a good overview. The episode is called, "My Life On the Dog List." |

Thanks for the tip, Tiger! I didn't realize they were filming his show as well. I'll have to check it out.
eta: PAPA! You saw the show! No details for us? :) Was she pissed with disgusting pig Perez about the Jessica rumors? |

No, she didn't spend any time discussing that fucker. Who has time for Perez when you've got to cover the Lohans, the Kardashians, Oprah, Babwa, Miley
Cyrus, the Hogans, filling in for Larry on LKL, Tom Cruise et friggin' al?
Definitely glad to see her live since it seems the specials cut out so much stuff. |

No, she didn't spend any time discussing that fucker. Yeah, he's not even really worth the attention. Now what exactly did she have to say about Miley? |

Yeah, he's a major douche. I thought she'd maybe get a dig in.
Glad you had a great time, Papa! It is a great experience. |

Oh she cracked on Miley and the pics and her creepy father, Billy Ray - one of the funnier bits in the show.

I always do a double take when I see her on Pulp Fiction, in the scene where Bruce Willis wrecks his car, right before he and whatshisname go into the pawn shop and whatshisname gets a$$-raped. |

I just saw a commercial for that new show I Want to Work For Diddy. I know the rumors aren't true, but I could see Kathy and Jessica parting so that
Kathy could have another reality show, where she looks for an assistant.

There's a great article with Kathy in this week's TV Guide.

ok, i'm not trying to be a debbie downer, but i have to admit this latest season of D-list is starting to put me off Kathy. i still enjoy the show BUT some
of her act is wearing thin on me. I am sick of the default "where's my gays?" schtick. I KNOW I KNOW it's what makes Kathy Kathy, but
it's a bit unimaginative at this point... always going on about how she needs her gays, and OMG if there aren't enough gays in the audience can she
survive, oh i'm all about the gays, here I'm going to a festival/cruise/awards ceremony for the gays!!
I KNOW it's her audience but I'm just getting bored by it. and I am NOT homophobic - most of my friends are gay ferchrissakes, i live in san francisco so how could it be otherwise ---- it's just a matter of being sick of hearing the same thing over and over. YES i know the gays are her audience but they know it too at this point. same with any joke she beats to death. Like the one episode where she talks about "popping off" and at first I thought it was cute, but then she went on ad nauseum about "pop off" this and "pop off" that, about 20 times in a 3 minute period...change the record. I hate that she latches onto a term or theme and it's kind of funny but by the 30th reference it's just not. Does anybody at all get what i'm saying? i know i'm treading thin ice here and will probably be slated for "not getting it" but surely someone else out there has to have noticed the same thing? |

I doubt she'll ever change that. It's such an integral part of her act.
Think of Don Rickles and his insults to everyone. After decades, it's beyond tired. Think of Joan Rivers and her 'Can we talk?' and then her blurting out something shocking and chastising the audience for being shocked. Think of Robin Williams and his out-of-control improvisations that often go beyond what his audience can comprehend. Think of Ellen DeGeneres and her neurotic ramblings. Yawn. Once they find their 'schtick' they stick with it. Luckily Kathy's schtick hasn't worn thin for me...yet. |

And if she didn't mention them, there would be screaming that she had thrown them under the bus so that she could be more accepted and mainstream. She
can't win either way.

Don't get me wrong, it's not a gay thing - it's the repetition that annoys me. The "where are my gays?" shout out is just the most
obvious example. When I'm watching the show i've notices that she does it with other things too... it's sometimes that annoys me when regular
people do it too... like if you laugh at an off the cuff joke a friend makes but then he repeats it over and over the keep getting a sure laugh, it steps being
funny....

Well she does a show for a different group of people every night. It's her way of welcoming people I guess. Like when a singer or comedian goes to a city
and says "HELLO FUCKTOWN!!!! I just love it here!". They don't normally give a shit, but it's the way to get the crowd going each time.
it's sometimes that annoys me when regular people do it too... like if you laugh at an off the cuff joke a friend makes but then he repeats it over and over the keep getting a sure laugh, it steps being funny....But if your friend was in a new group every time you were with them and did that, then I don't see the problem. If the friend said to you personally everytime you saw him/her, "Hi there! So did I tell you the joke about Star Jones and her gay husband?" then I can understand you getting tired of it. |

seaguy wrote: true - but that's kind of my point.... the people who watch her show are a certain audience that are familiar with her work and I just feel like
she's getting a bit stagnant - lazy, even - and relying on things that she's done a million times before. and also, i'm talking about stuff like
hearing her try to be ironic/sarcastic/whatev by using the term "gonna pop off!" 30 times in a two minute period ---- not, say, going to see her
live show 5 times in a row and expecting different material each time (which is actually possible). There are other examples but I wasn't exactly taking
notes for each episode...

Fair enough. :)
It doesn't really phase me at all, it's just what Kathy does at her shows. Then calls out the ladies and then the straight guys. And the pop off thing didn't even register on my radar, I don't even recall it. |
