Is it because hunters want antlers, or because it's easier to shoot them during the rut?
Thanks to anyone who knows the answer, for some reason I couldn't find this on google. I need to know for something I'm writing. |

It's because every spring we enter into an uneasy truce with the deer.
Hunting season is never an inevitability, but for the last 60 years in a row those deer fuckers have broken our trust and forced our hand. By the Autumn......it's ON. |

I found this on Yahoo Answers, so it's probably not correct:
They do not hibernate like bears but stay active year round. Females become pregnant in winter. This is why hunting season is in the fall and early winter because the antlers fall off and you should know the sex before you take them. There are different rules for different sexes. |
