I hate my governor, Tim Kaine. He's a Catholic fanatic who promised enforce the death penalty, but suspended it for a while and has commuted a death
sentence. He also claimed that gun policy had nothing to do with the Virginia Tech massacre. The only good thing about a VP nom for him would be getting him
out of the state.

So Tim Kaine, that's the chatter? What's the appeal there, is he a fairly conservative Dem?

So people weren't hired on merit but some other factor? When did we start talking about affirmative action? wait! Obama is FOR affirmative action? I thought he was the post racial candidate?I love it when Heckle and Jeckle are able to so completely distort an issue from the actual facts in just two short posts. Well done!

You have to look at the root of the issue, not the pretty window dressing. Of course since window dressing is all your candidate is, I'm not surprised.

Bonestripper wrote: Some credit the Clinton surplus to the fact that he reduced military spending. The CBO says it was the '93 Clinton deficit reduction legislation (OBRA
93, that increased taxes on the super-rich) passed by Dems of the 103rd congress. Republicans opposed the 93 plan with every Rep in congress voting against it.
I found some funny Rep quotes about it: "Clearly, this is a job-killer in the short-run. The impact on job creation is going to be devastating."-Rep. Dick Armey, (Republican, Texas) "The tax increase will…lead to a recession…and will actually increase the deficit."-Rep. Newt Gingrich (Republican, Georgia) "I will make you this bet. I am willing to risk the mortgage on it…the deficit will be up; unemployment will be up; in my judgment, inflation will be up."-Sen. Robert Packwood (Republican, Oregon) "The deficit four years from today will be higher than it is today, not lower."-Sen. Phil Gramm (Republican, Texas) |

The notion that Democrats are above all this stuff while Republicans are a bunch of hooligans is beneath even you knuckleheads.

a policy of disqualifying people applying for jobs in Homeland Security because they favor gay marriage or the estate tax is treason.

"Who gives a shit? " Since the Bush Administration has broken so many other laws, this does seem a little bit small-fry, I see your point.

Bush has gotten us involved in a war that was too expensive to justify, and his "solution" to the high price of drugs for seniors is an expensive
disaster. Clinton did cut the military budget, but also benefited greatly from a stock market that went nuts for no good reason. He also had a congress that
acted conservatively for a little while. We've been spending too much money for too long, and I think McCain would be the better candidate to control
spending, except I doubt that he will cut any military spending. Obama will increase social spending and will hurt job growth with increased taxes. No one will
make the needed cuts in every area of the budget.
Increased domestic drilling will do a lot more than lower the price of oil, it'll keep hundreds of billions of dollars in the US and create thousands of good paying jobs. The Republicans should hammer the Democrats on this issue. |

I can see that JeFa and I will agree on the merit of Tim Kaine as a Veep about as much as we agree on everything else.

So Obama is thinking of choosing someone boring because he doesn't want to be assassinated. Good thinking.

Every time the presidency changes party, a whole slew of US attorneys get whacked. Every time. This is nothing new.
And someone with some sense please explain the difference between budget deficits and national debt to these morons. |

In each change in administration the existing attorneys become instantly incompetent and are replaced en masse.
Of course judges are not politically appointed, right kiddies? Of the estimated $500B deficit we face this fiscal year, $150B is from the stimulous . Now the Dems want another one and this will be balmed on Bush. I say make it $1M each person. That way we solve the big mortgage crises etc. Damn the deficits full speed ahead. Join the disabled veterans for Obama. |

at what point does Obama's ego get too big? Maybe when he says things like this:
"I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions," it's no longer about America and what he can do for the country. It's all about him. Be very afraid! |
