I remember reading it 15 years ago. We had to read it in school - but I don't remember much of it - thus rebuying it.

The Good:
I love how the trailer set the film up, it seems a lot quicker and more focused on the visuals of the film. It also makes a slow story seem fast paced. Doctor Midnight looks like he will be the focus of the film, he actually looks better then the comic version Jeffery Dean Morgan is just an awesome actor and seeing him as the Comedian really seems cool The Bad I hate that Nite Owl is played by an attractive actor, Nite Owl needs to be a pudgy normal looking guy. He's the person who is out of place from the other five. The is film is going to be really repetitive if they stick with the hero themes, they need to go deeper or do a better job now that the Dark Knight has had its say on the idea. Ozymandias seems way off from the comic version, he looks way to standard. The character needs to be god like, that version looks like he stepped out of the banna republic. |

while I agree that this movie won't be as big as the studio would hope for, Snyder's last movie (also based on a graphic novel) was released in March
and grossed over $200 million...

March is still March
Let me add my love for Patrick here:

Jude Law really, really wanted to be Rorshach ( he was a big fan of the comic).
Rumor has it the studio wanted Keanu Reeves to be Doc Manhattan. There are drafts of the screenplays by Sam (Batman) Huff and one by Terry (Monty Python) Gilliam out there. Different starts & endings... |

"Success" of a movie is relative; it depends on the studio's expectations. People in this thread seemed to be implying that "Watchmen"
could be as big as "Dark Knight", which i don't think is even in the realm of possibility. And you're right - studios don't release
expected blockbusters in March.
I think "Watchmen", if it's good, has potential to do "Sin City" kind of numbers ($75 million); there is no way it does Batman kind of numbers ($400 million). |

300 came out in March, and was a great success. I doubt WB is expecting Batman like numbers on this one, but I think it could do extremely well.

One movie's success in March hardly makes every movie that is released the same month, success worthy.
And I still love/want Patrick |

No, but this film is of a very similar vein, and as it is not tentpole material, I don't think this March release date is a bad thing.
