So some Black people feel that they have "ownership" over the word thus they "feel" as if they are in "control" and have
"power" over others as well as the word which is originally defined as meaning ignorant. Second, the word is also derived from the
Scandinavian term Niggard which translates as A stingy person; Cheapskate. Well, if some Black people deem it okay to call each other
ignorant as well as stingy then by all means let them. In the end, they look like hypocritical fools... hence IGNORANT.

As a black person the truth is I really dont care about the use of the word. My mom always says "Its not what you are called, its what you answer
to." I have no problems with white or black people using this word because that word is not me, and it does not describe me and truthfully it doesnt
bother me that much. I do also think that alot of black people ,including me are disconnected from the word. I have been guilty of using it but I also feel
like I have no emotional connection, however if I had lived through it like my father and grandfather i would probably feel a lot different.

In all the arguments about "well black people are hypocritical for using the N word" I sincerely pray that everyone recognizes that there are VARIED
opinions within in the Black community regarding the use of the word:
-some Black people are okay with Blacks using it, but no one else should ever use it -some Black people are DISGUSTED that ANYONE uses it -some Black people are okay with anyone using it because it doesn't affect them -some Black people don't have an opinion either way Please don't think that one Black person's opinion reflects what the WHOLE RACE believes no matter who tries to justify it, defend it, or arue for/argue against it. |

^ Tis true bit I am referring to those that say the word b/c they think it's acceptable amongst black people. If it's Ok for you to say it, it should
be Ok for everyone to say it - no exceptions.
As for those that think that by saying it, they are de-sensitizing the word and turning it into a positive of sorts, why can that only be achieved through blacks? Why can't whites do the same? Again..I am all for no one saying it but nothing bugs me more than double standards. Oh and THANKS for the video. :) |

I don't see this show that much but actually happened to see the incident in question and totally sympathized with Elisabeth's perspective and t.ears.
I also happen to agree that it may be an overly idealistic point of view. I own the fact that I don't know everything and I think Elisabeth is finally
coming around to that point as well.
When I was a little girl I would go out to eat with my grandparents at a restaurant where there were a lot of black people working. My grandfather would use the n* word freely and it made me cry on occasion because I felt so angry and yet helpless to do anything about it. My dad used it a little too freely once or twice as well. Nobody in my family told me how I was supposed to feel about the word yet it hurt me deeply. While black people argue amongst themselves about whether it's ok to say it or not, all I can say is the feelings that it has always evoked in me and they are very negative. Someone can use it in whatever context they wish but it will always make me feel bad. And I think that may have been what Elisabeth was getting at. She just got caught up in her emotions before she could make it. I think Whoopi went a little overboard and seems to have taken on a role of educator. If you take a stance as if you are the expert on something then an equal dialogue amongst 4 very different yet equal individuals is that much more difficult. And I just wanted to slap Sherri. Her ignorance is amusing at times but in circumstances such as these it just pisses me off. |

Actually..if you think about it - it's beyond a double standard when black people, who want to say the word freely, giving it a positive conotation only
want it to be said amongst their own race. If their goal is to take out the negative factor and make it a word that essentially has no negative meaning, then
why BAN it, thereby saying that there is something wrong with the word, from other races?
True Fucktards at Work. Oh and Whoopi really mucked things up for herself. I have always liked her and she seems well liked amongst all races. Hearing her talk about what she's entitled to, living in her own world, etc.. was eye opening. Bitch doesn't have hardships..she's living it up better than most white people. |

Charlie Sheen was recently attacked by the media for using the N word. He used it by directing it at a white man. The form and matter in which he used it
was in fact the correct way the N word is really meant - an ignorant person, not a black person. The media came down hard on Charlie and he had to apologize
to one of his best friends, who is black and who was the best man at his first wedding. His friend of course totally understood that it was used in the matter
in which the word really is meant.
