30. Aron (Steel/Rock)
As bad a typing combo as Steel/Rock is, I love Aron. It's easily the cutest Steel Pokemon ever, and it's got very little competition for cutest Rock Pokemon. Of the six Pokemon on my Dream Team, Aron showed up the latest in the game, but I was willing to wait in order to catch one due to the high defenses he exhibited, even if he's doubly weak to Fighting AND Ground attacks. The fact is that Aron's entire family is in my top 30, which says something. I'm not sure what, but it DOES say something.
29. Swellow (Flying/Normal)
Swellow was the first early bird in the Pokemon games that was actually considered halfway decent by competitive battlers. And I can admit that it's easily one of the best Flying-types in the game. But I just don't care for Swellow as much as others. It's probably because of how big a step down Swellow was from NOCTOWLOWNAGE and the fact that by the third generation, I'd basically become disenfranchised by the entire Flying/Normal-typing. Swellow's great in combat though, so it makes the top 30.
28. Treecko (Grass)
I don't know why, but the Grass starters have just never been even remotely near the awesomeness of BULBASAUROWNAGE. Treecko is no exception. I mean, the first gym is good for him, but by that point, Combusken and Mudkip are just as good. Then there's basically nothing Treecko is good at for the rest of the game except fighting Lunatone/Solrock in the Psychic gym and fighting Wallace. Grass just isn't a very useful type at all. And Treecko really pissed me off in the anime because he always had to put a piece of straw in his mouth to look cool, but he wasn't cool at all. He really ranks this high on the list because in comparison to pretty much every other Grass-type from both RSE and GSC, Treecko is awesome. It's a matter of perception.
27. Mawile (Steel)
Mawile is pretty much the only non-legendary Pokemon that's a pure Steel-type. I've gotta say that I've always been confused as hell by that. I mean, looking at Mawile, I would think perhaps Normal or Dark, but Steel? That just came out of nowhere. If I hadn't played Sapphire, I probably would've ranked Mawile much lower. But then I played Sapphire and actually got to use Mawile in action, and she's not half bad at all. Weird ass design, but at least it's not just a carbon copy of some Pokemon from RBY.\
26. Latios (Dragon/Psychic)
Latios appears before "his" "sister" mainly because of shit like that right there. Despite the clear implication by the anime and possibly the game that Latios is male, the game still couldn't make him have an actual gender, perhaps because then people would expect Latios to be able to have children. Well, unless Latios does it with a Ditto, then he can't have baby Latioses anyway. The Psychic/Dragon thing was cool for a legendary back then, and if I hadn't wasted my Master Ball catching Rayquaza, I'd probably rank Latios higher than his is.
