I see Liz's point, but only if we live in a perfect world with flying ponies and unicorns. I agree Liz is unrealistic, borderline delusional. We may live
in the same planet (which is flat according to Sherry), but we all live in different worlds.

I'm watching it now. It wasn't really a fight, just an emotional and elevated conversation.
Not better than the Rosie/Lizabitch fight. Who the hell cares is what I think. Let people say whatever they want. If there are consequences you don't want to live with, then don't say it. Own it. |

I don't mind Elisabeth's viewpoint but I wish she would let people talk. I get tired of her interruptions; they all do it but she is the worst.

Elizabeth isn't a bad person and I believe she believes what she says with conviction. She just doesn't see that it's a much more complicated
issue. She is looking through a blond haired/blue eyed filter.

Someone earlier nailed it...she's an Idealist.

One should admit though, she has some balls (out of courage or stupidity), for a white woman to try to argue with two 2 black women on National TV about the N
word. Notice Joy was quiet during that entire argument, she didn't want to touch that issue at all.

This show has lost all credibility to me since the "Behind the Scenes" show a few months ago. Not that it had a lot to begin with... but until that
show, I really thought it was more off-the-cuff. How silly of me now that I think about it.
Now that I know they discuss absolutely everything before hand in the morning and that Joy has writers who write her jokes for her, I find my self being very critical of it's honesty. Nothing that comes up on the show is a surprise and it really bothers me when someone brings up a topic or point and they all react like it's new info to them. |

I completely agree. That was the worst idea for this show. I cannot stand Joy now, knowing that her "witty" snarks are pre-written for her. |

Never could stand Joy to begin with. I disagree with all of Liz's politics but completely agee with her about the N word. It is a deragatory word and
should not be used at all. I see Whoopi and Sherris point that they are taking control of the word but it should not be used publicly or privately.

Agree with Lis here. Black people should cry and whine for racial equality but then claim exclusive rights to the word "N*GGER" just because they are
black. I guess if Whoopi only dates white guys, then it must be tough living in different worlds and being together at the same time.

Oh, I agree with that too. If black people are going to use it they shouldn't whine or be surprised if a white person uses it too. But I cannot agree
that the word should be forbidden forever. That's retarded, and unrealistic. Like I said earlier today...people should be allowed to say whatever the
fuck they want and be prepared to suffer the consequences whether they be good or bad.

I agree 100% with Whoopie here; I can only imagine how blacks back then hear nothing but that word; it must be painful and degrading. If you can't stop the
white community from saying that word, then use and own that word, it makes that word less painful. Granted that almost nobody uses that word anymore, there
are still people in the back community old enough to remember how it was so that word stuck. I don't see the big deal why they shouldn't be using that
word.
How do you teach the children? Teach them that you are not allowed to say derogatory remarks to minory and ethnic groups you don't belong to but others may be able to use it. If your kid asked why, then explain to them why. That is how children learn acceptance and tolerance - by understanding what is the meaning behind those words. Simply telling them NOT to say that word does not teach children why some words are bad. |

Can someone post the YouTube vid if there is one of this fight/cryfest on The View? I don't really watch the show and therefore did not see it and
don't know the debate.
As far as the N word goes..it's wrong no matter what color you are. I hate how black people feel like they can say that shit but freak out if a white persons says it. It's either said or it's not..and it's wrong no matter what. |
