I hate the minute long pause after Irvine. Irvine is probably one of my favorite songs of all of Kelly's. So I'm guessing that someone close to Kelly was using her and her fame and she must have found out that night. I asked because I like to browse and noticed on other boards that many thought something was wrong after her Irvine show, I guess those folks had intuition. Haha. That recorded version captures the spirit the song was written in very well. Seems like it was a point in her life where her bitterness towards her ex had turned to a mild (or perhaps not so mild) contempt. I just love its sassiness. Irvine OTOH is a very personal song to her and it seem to affect her deeply. But I dissagree. I think she could've recreated its magic in the studio, but she'd rather not share her pain so openly IMO. Here is a fun fact: maadx you beat me to it What? I don't get. Just kidding. ;-)

I think she's only sang it the one time when she initially recorded it into her Mac and she's said she won't perform that song in concert. some numbers from Idol Chatter http://blogs.usatoday.com/idolchatter/2008/07/idols-idle-on-a.html#more Kelly's Breakaway sold 1,600, down from 1,700, and totals 6.00 million. My December remains at 600, with a total of 771,000. And Thankful, sold 400 for a total of 2.7 million. *amazing after 5 years it's still selling 400 albums per week

I personally don't think Chivas works as a "studio" cut. That song is one you'd get up and sing in a bar while out with your friends. It doesn't require perfect or even pretty vocals.

I HOPE that everyone gets a chance to hear that it's not what Cluck Five said it was-- We shall see-- it will definitely sell - i'm just anxious to see how much!

That song has managed to outsell many other countless songs that people considered "hits". It's even sold more than Walk Away, Breakaway and is slightly behind Hazel Eyes.

No doubt in my mind Kelly Clarkson fundamentally knows who she is as a person/songwriter/singer and that she will continue to resist anyone who tries to change her or derail her plans. From day one, when she first appeared on AI, Kelly already knew what kind of singer & songwriter she was and wanted to become. I think her main goal ever since was to establish herself as that kind of an artist, which is probably why she's always fought so hard for her stuff to get on her records. Not so long ago I watched an interview after Thankful was released where she admitted there were times she was so discouraged and unhappy with her record label that she would only phone her mom late at night to let those frustrations out and just ball, because the sweet thing didn't want her friends to see her so unhappy. As Kelly has said on more than one occasion, she should have the final say on what goes on her record because it's her voice & her face. And it isn't not like she is demanding anything unreasonable in as far as what direction she wants her career to go. If Kelly just wanted to be a "star" she would have taken the record deal she was offered before AI. God is definitely working in Kelly's life & career. I also admire that she has such a strong faith. She will be around for ages & is constantly evolving. I am really looking forward to what her 4th album will be like. She is a true force to be reckoned with.

I don't think Kelly ever cared about being the most famous or most successful artist around. I think all Kelly cares about is making music that she believes in. It sounds so cliche to say that but every interview I've ever seen of her, since the beginning has said the same thing. She's never waivered from that stance. It's one of the reasons I've stayed a fan all this time I guess. Kelly doesn't get caught up in the "lifestyle" of the industry and she hasn't let her fame and success change her. She still appears to have the same values and the same friends as she had before winning Idol. The people who supported her then still support her and in return I'd imagine they get to enjoy all the perks that go along with her amazing success.
