Why not just allow resubstitution after 12 innings or so? It was ridiculous enough having "all star" SS Chrisitan Guzman playing 3B for crunch time.

They should have rushed Tim Lincecum back from the hospital and warmed him up just for effect. Joe Buck's drama meter would have gone off the charts.

Or just tough it out and make the last pitcher go as long as it takes, like the way it used to be.

I liked how empty the stadium was in the extra innings, only the real fans stayed and they were still loud.

How would the Rays feel about Terry Francona throwing Scott Kazmir for as long as it takes when he's had elbow trouble this season and threw 100+ pitches on Sunday? You know someday some overeager front office type would keep his star pitcher home from the game to prevent such a possibility. |

"They don't boo you if you're not a good player," Wagner said of New York sports fans. "They boo the hell out of me. Sometimes I think
I'm great, the way they get on my [butt]."

Dodgers will be the leading contenders for CC.
The key thing is that Gagne, Mota and Cameron are all gone this year. We had them on the books for one year. Turnbow is a waste but "only" a $3 million waste.

Well it wasn't like I had to leave watching the game on TV early to beat traffic to my bedroom. My services were called. I couldn't keep the women waiting any longer. Jul 15 David Murphy, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels likely will start Sunday, July 20, against the Florida Marlins.....to avoid pitching vs the Mets for a second series in a row. lol x eleventy billion |

Well acording to you he can't beat the Mets so this would then be a good move no? I also know the real reason for it if it happens but i won't tell
you.

It has more to do with not having three lefties bunched together in the rotation than anything else.

Good move by the Phillies protecting Hamels. If the Mets beat his ass again, he'll have recurring nightmares for the rest of his life. Wouldn't want the poor guy to suffer a nervous breakdown. ssts

no but myers pitches wed, and then moyer hamels and happ would be pitching in 3 straight days following that unless it goes moyer then kendrick then hamels.
the only way he doesnt avoid the mets is if he pitches friday and as i said they arent going to have him pitch in two 'straight' games.

The Yankee fans booed Bill Maserowski, for Christ's sake (for a home run 48 years ago).
That's class. |

With the obvious exception of Hamels, Mets usually struggle against lefties since they are deficient batting from the right side. But if you don't want to throw your ace against a hated rival, well, I'd be questioning your cojones. |
