Reward / Immunity Challenge - Build It Up, Break It Down

<'Thieves' plays, as the camera shows an aerial view of the challenge area, where colored planks and other wooden materials can be seen scattered out on floating platforms. Three wooden cages are then shown on the beach, before the camera cuts ahead to show Jeff>

Jeff Probst: <talking loudly> Come on in, guys! <A faraway view of the nine eager Rubak members walking up the beach is shown, before the camera cuts ahead to show close-up views of both Tracy and Mikey. The camera then zooms out again, as the castaways can be seen assembling into a group on their teal mat. Jeff is now shown again>

Jeff Probst: You guys ready to get to today's challenge? <The camera cuts back to all nine Rubak members, as they nod their heads and respond with an enthusiastic "Yes!">

Jeff Probst: For today's challenge, you will divide into three teams of three. <A close-up view of Sherea is shown> On my go, all three teams will swim out and collect several bundles of planks, sticks, and rope. <The aerial camera rapidly zooms over the ocean, and then focuses in on three floating platforms with various materials scattered across them> You'll have twenty minutes to build a blockade through one or both of the other team's tunnels. <Eliza is shown with a thoughtful look on her face> Once the twenty minutes are up, <A view of the Orange team's tunnel is shown> you'll then race to tear down the blockade that the other teams built in your tunnel. <The camera now scrolls over to the other two tunnels, which are both filled with wooden barriers> First team to get all three members through their tunnel and onto their mat wins. <A wide view of the entire Rubak tribe is shown, before the camera cuts back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Wanna know what you're playin' for? <The castaways are now shown nodding their heads excitedly, as the camera quickly scrolls across them>

Alexis: Yes, please… <The camera shows an anxious Mary. 'Good News' then begins to play, as the camera switches angles to show another view of Jeff>

Jeff Probst: The winning team of three will be taken by helicopter to an authentic Micronesian village. <The camera now shows Aras smiling> You'll enjoy some nice Micronesian singing and dancing, <A rapid clip of Kathy is then shown next> a local feast, <The camera scrolls across several other Rubak members> and you will spend the night in a traditional bai. <Jeff is then shown again> It is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. <A smiling Tracy is shown nodding her head, before the camera abruptly cuts back to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: In addition, Exile Island is back in play again. <Mary can be seen looking up, before the camera switches angles to show Brooke> The winning team will choose one member from one of the losing teams to go to Exile Island. <A view of all nine Rubak members is now shown, before the camera turns back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Worth playin' for? <The camera shows a close-up view of Sherea>

Sherea: Believe it… <A rapid view of Mikey is shown, before the camera returns to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Here's the twist: <short pause> somebody's going home tonight, <Aras can be seen shifting his expression> so the winning team also wins Immunity; <There is a prominent drumbeat, as the camera shows Brooke and a few gasps are heard> the three people on that team will not go to Tribal Council; <Tracy is then shown next> you will be safe from another vote and guaranteed a one-in-eight shot at winning the million bucks. <Rapid clips of several castaways are shown, before the camera focuses back in on Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Here's what that means for Exile: <short pause> because we have Tribal Council tonight, <The camera shows a view of the entire Rubak tribe> the person who you send to Exile will rejoin this tribe at Tribal Council, <Eliza is now shown raising her eyebrows> so they'll be out of the loop of everything that's been going on while they're away… <A close-up view of Mary is shown, before the camera turns to an uneasy Alexis>

Alexis: But is there another idol? <The camera abruptly switches angles to show Jeff>

Jeff Probst: …but as always, the silver lining with Exile Island is the hidden Immunity Idol. <A wide view of the nine Rubak members is shown, as several castaways nod> Mikey B played the idol at a previous Tribal Council, <The camera now zooms in on Mikey> so a new idol has been hidden; <Jeff takes a short pause, as the camera scrolls over to Eliza and Brooke> first clue is out there, waiting to be found. <Jeff is then shown again>

Jeff Probst: I know at this point in the game, huge stakes… <The camera shows Mary nodding, as Aras can be heard saying "That's big">

Jeff Probst: We're gonna draw for three captains; we'll do a schoolyard pick. <The camera abruptly cuts ahead to show an overhead view of the entire challenge area, and rapidly scrolls around it, before fading out to show Aras, Sherea, and Alexis standing on colored mats>

Jeff Probst: Aras is a captain; <The camera shows a close-up view of Aras> Sherea's a captain, <The camera now scrolls over to Sherea> and Alexis is a captain. <A rapid clip of Alexis is then shown, before the camera focuses back in on Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Aras, make your first pick… <Another view of Aras is now shown next>

Aras: Mary… <A wide view of the other six Rubak members is shown, as Mary smiles and steps forward. Tracy can be seen widening her eyes and exchanging glances with Kathy, before the camera switches angles to show Mary hugging Aras>

Jeff Probst: Aras chooses Mary. <Jeff is now shown again> Sherea, you're up: <short pause> who do you want? <The camera now shows a view of Sherea, as she points to Brooke>

Sherea: Brooke. <There is a prominent drumbeat, as the camera shows Eliza with an uneasy look on her face, and then scrolls over to Brooke, who makes her way over to Sherea>

Jeff Probst: Alexis, <short pause> your pick. <The camera now turns to Alexis>

Alexis: I want Mikey B. <Mikey can be seen subtly nodding his head, as he steps forward and walks over to Alexis. A view of the three remaining Rubak members is then shown, before the camera switches angles to show Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: We're down to three: <The camera shows a wide view of the three teams> Aras, who's your last choice? <Both Aras and Mary are now shown again>

Aras: I'm gonna go with Tracy. <An eerie shift in the music occurs, as the camera shows a contemplative Tracy walking over to Aras and Mary>

Jeff Probst: Tracy joins Aras and Mary… <Eliza is then shown with a concerned expression on her face, before the camera cuts back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Alright; <short pause> we're down to two, and in picking one of these two, <A clip of Kathy and Eliza is shown next> Sherea, <The camera shows another close-up view of Sherea> you will also decide who goes over to Alexis' team. <A rapid view of Alexis and Mikey is shown, before the camera scrolls back over to a thoughtful-looking Sherea>

Sherea: Eliza. <Eliza is shown smiling and walking over to her teammates on the purple mat>

Jeff Probst: Eliza joins Sherea and Brooke on the Purple Team; <The camera then turns to show a side view of Kathy walking over to Alexis and Mikey> Kathy joins Alexis and Mikey on Green. <Kathy can be seen hugging Alexis, before the camera zooms out to show all three teams, and then switches angles to show another close-up view of Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Alright; we have our three teams of three. <Aras, Mary, and Tracy are now shown standing on the orange mat> Give you a few minutes to strategize; <short pause> we'll get started. <The camera abruptly cuts ahead to show an aerial view of the entire challenge area, and then fades out to show another clip of Jeff>

Jeff Probst: <talking loudly> Here we go! <Jeff can now be seen raising his arm> A lot at stake! For Reward and Immunity! <The camera switches angles to show the three teams each standing on their respective mats> Survivors ready?! <Jeff now lowers his arm> GO! <The music speeds up and becomes more dramatic, as the castaways frantically swim out into the ocean to retrieve their materials from the floating platforms>

Jeff Probst: <narration> This challenge is officially on! <An overhead view of the ocean is now shown, as the nine Rubak members continue to swim as fast as they can>

Jeff Probst: <narration> You gotta swim out first and collect all of your materials! <The camera now cuts ahead to show Aras pulling himself up onto the Orange team's platform and tossing the first bundle of planks out into the water>

Jeff Probst: <narration> You gotta get everything back to your team's mat before you can start building! <The camera switches angles to show several other Rubak members, as they continue to swim towards their floating platforms. Kathy and Tracy are then shown next>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Tracy and Kathy bringin' it up for their teams… <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera shows Mary grabbing the first bundle of planks for Orange>

Mary: <to Aras> I got this one… <The camera then scrolls back over to Tracy again>

Jeff Probst: <narration> If you're a slow swimmer, it's gonna cost you some time… <A side view of the floating platforms is shown, as Brooke and Eliza can both be seen tossing their materials out into the water>

Eliza: Take two in at the same time! <A rapid clip of Alexis, Mikey, and Kathy is shown next>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Aras tossing 'em out to his teammates… <Mary can be seen swimming back towards the shore, before the camera cuts back to Aras again>

Aras: <to Tracy> I'll toss them to you. Ready? <Aras is shown tossing two bundles of wooden materials into the water, as Tracy grabs onto them and begins to swim back>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Mary, Tracy, and Aras making their way back for Orange! <The camera shows Sherea reaching for a floating bundle of wooden planks>

Sherea: <to Brooke> Get another one! <Brooke floats another bundle of materials and ropes out to Sherea, before the camera scrolls back over to the Green team>

Alexis: <to Mikey> Go back… <Mikey is now shown swimming towards the shore with two bundles of planks, before the camera shows another aerial view of the entire challenge area>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Mikey B comin' back with some planks for the Green team; <The camera then shows a close-up view of Kathy, as Mikey passes them to her> Kathy waiting in the middle for more… <Alexis can be seen swimming back to shore, before the camera abruptly cuts ahead to show Aras carrying his bundles up the beach>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Aras first to the shore for Orange; <Aras now sets his bundle down on the orange mat> Mary right behind! <The camera now switches angles to show a side view of the other Rubak members heading back to shore>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Everybody comin' back now! <Mary is then shown arriving at the mat>

Mary: <talking loudly> Come on, Tracy! <A clip of Tracy pushing the bundles of planks in front of her as she swims is now shown, as the camera zooms in on her>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Mary and Aras gotta wait for Tracy before they can start building a blockade… <The camera now switches angles to show Brooke and Eliza arriving back at the shore and racing up the beach. Sherea is then shown, as the three Purple team members dropping their bundles onto their purple mat>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Purple, you have everything! <A clip of Brooke untying one of the bundles is shown> Start building! <The camera now switches angles to show the remaining Rubak members arriving back at their respective mats>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Orange has everything back; <Aras is shown carrying a bundle of planks over to the Green team's tunnel> they're building! <The camera then turns to both Kathy and Alexis, who are untying their wooden materials> Green building! <The camera shows quick clips of the castaways from all three teams, as they build individual blockades>

Jeff Probst: <narration> You have twenty minutes to use all these materials to build a blockade in the other teams' tunnels! <A close-up view of Sherea is shown, as she shoves a long wooden stick vertically through the Orange team's tunnel. Brooke and Mikey are then shown shoving planks into Orange's tunnel, before the camera scrolls over to Eliza>

Brooke: <to Eliza> Don't leave a lot of space! <A wide view of all nine Rubak members working on various tunnels is now shown, as the camera continues to focus on them>

Jeff Probst: <narration> You're trying to prevent the other teams from getting through! <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera shows a clip of Aras carefully placing planks into the Purple team's tunnel, before switching angles to show Alexis tying rope around planks>

Jeff Probst: <narration> The more knots, the more difficult it's going to be! <Kathy is then shown tying a large knot around several wooden sticks in Orange's tunnel>

Kathy: The tighter, the better… <A wide view of the castaways blockading Orange is shown>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Ten minutes to go! <The camera then scrolls over to Mary and Eliza, who are both working on blockading the Green team's tunnel>

Jeff Probst: <narration> A lot of individual strategy goin' on; <Aras is shown looking towards his teammates, as he ties a rope around several planks in Purple's tunnel> Most teams not even working together on a single blockade… <An eerie shift in the music occurs, as the camera shows Brooke and Sherea again, and then cuts back to Aras>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Aras is the only person working on Purple Team's tunnel! <A concerned Alexis is now shown turning her head, as she runs over to him>

Alexis: <whispering> Don't do anything to their tunnel; <Aras is shown looking towards Alexis, as he continues to tie a large knot> if we let them win the Reward, we can do a tie vote, and that's the only chance we got, <The camera shows Aras with a thoughtful look on his face> okay? <Tracy is then shown looking around randomly with an orange plank in her hand>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Five minutes left! <Rapid clips of each of the Rubak members are shown, before the camera switches to another aerial view of the challenge area>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Tracy not doin' anything to help her team out… <A close-up view of Mary is shown, as she climbs onto the top of Green's tunnel and continues to shove planks deep into it. Tracy is then shown looking up>

Tracy: I'm thinking, Jeff… <Jeff can then be seen shrugging carelessly>

Jeff Probst: <narration> If you wanna go to Tribal Council, that's fine… <Mary can be seen inserting another orange plank into the Green team's tunnel>

Mary: Make every plank count, guys! <Mikey and Kathy are both shown strategically positioning green planks into the Orange team's tunnel>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Everybody ganging up on the Orange Team! <The camera now switches angles to show Eliza continuing to add planks to Green's tunnel>

Jeff Probst: <narration> You guys need to pick it up! <A close-up view of Aras is shown, as he ties a piece of rope around several long planks. Mary can also be seen blockading the Green team's tunnel, before the camera cuts back to Orange's tunnel>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Everybody using every plank and every piece of lumber they can! <A clip of Sherea randomly jamming sticks into the Orange team's tunnel is shown, before the camera zooms over to Purple's tunnel, which has nobody blockading it>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Nobody even working on Purple's Tunnel! <The camera focuses in on Brooke for a few seconds, as she continues to blockade Orange's tunnel> You're gonna make this that easy on them?! <The camera shows rapid clips of both Alexis and Aras, before zooming out to show a wide view of the entire challenge area again>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Last thirty seconds! <A side view of Sherea is now shown, as she jams a plank into the Orange team's tunnel> Make 'em count! <Kathy is then shown tightening a rope> There is a lot at stake! <The camera shows Aras leaning into the Green team's tunnel, as he forcefully jams wooden sticks into it. The camera now turns back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: <narration> When the time is up, I'm gonna tell you to switch sides and you will start tearing down what the other teams have built up: <The camera rapidly scrolls across the Rubak members> five, four, <Tracy is shown standing around> three, two, <Another close-up view of a determined Aras is shown next> one, everybody stop! <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera shows the castaways immediately stopping, and then abruptly cuts ahead to show an aerial view of the challenge area. The camera now fades out to show the three teams standing on their colored mats, before scrolling over to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: <talking loudly> Alright; <short pause> on my go, you will switch sides and start tearing down the blockade that the other teams just created. <The camera focuses in on Aras, Tracy, and Mary> First team to get all three members on their mat wins. <A rapid view of the Green team is shown, before the camera turns back to Jeff, who raises his arm>

Jeff Probst: <shouting> Survivors ready?! <Jeff now lowers his arm> GO! <'Actioneers' plays, as the camera shows a wide view of the three teams running over to their own tunnels and beginning to tear down the blockades. Mary and Aras are shown quickly ripping down planks>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Aras and Mary ripping those first planks out of there! <Tracy can be seen pulling one wooden stick out of the Orange team's tunnel, before the camera switches angles to show the three members of the Green team working through their tunnel>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Alexis, Kathy, and Mikey making some progress for the Green Team… <A close-up view of an uninterested Alexis is shown, before the camera cuts ahead to show a clip of Brooke, Sherea, and Eliza clearing out their blockade>

Eliza: <to Brooke> Just push it out! <Brooke is shown pushing a wooden plank out of the tunnel, as the camera continues to show the women crawling through>

Jeff Probst: <narration> This part of the challenge is going to be over very quickly! <The camera cuts back to the Orange team, as Aras and Mary continue to work through their blockade. The camera then turns to Alexis, who is halfheartedly untying a knot>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Alexis doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry now… <A close-up view of a frustrated Mikey is then shown, as he forcefully throws an orange plank>

Mikey: <talking loudly> We need to win this friggin' challenge! <Kathy can then be seen climbing into the tunnel and crawling between several planks>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Kathy's in the tunnel first for Green! <The camera switches to another aerial view of the challenge area, as all three teams can be seen from above>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Gotta get all three team members through the tunnel and onto the mat… <A rapid clip of the Purple team is shown next, as Eliza reaches the end of the tunnel and climbs out of it>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Eliza is through! <The camera shows Aras continuing to rip through the Orange team's blockade, before cutting back to the Purple team again>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Brooke's out for Purple! <Brooke climbs out of the tunnel and runs towards the purple mat, as the camera shows an excited Eliza>

Eliza: <excited> We're through; we're through! <Brooke can be heard saying "You got it!" to Sherea, as the camera switches angles to show her working through the tunnel>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Sherea almost through the tunnel! <Sherea can be seen climbing through the final section of the tunnel, as the camera continues to focus on her>

Jeff Probst: <narration> Sherea's through! <The camera shows a quick clip of Eliza and Brooke clapping, and then turns to show Sherea climbing out of the tunnel joyfully and racing onto the purple mat. The camera now shows Jeff raising his arms>

Jeff Probst: <shouting> Purple Team wins Immunity and Reward! <A victory theme plays, as the camera shows Sherea, Eliza, and Brooke cheering loudly and hugging each other excitedly. An eerie shift in the music occurs, as the camera turns to an expressionless Tracy, and then switches angles to show a clip of Alexis, Mikey, and Kathy>

Alexis: Good job, guys… <The camera now shows another view of Jeff next>

Jeff Probst: Sherea, Brooke, Eliza, nice job; <Jeff takes a short pause, as the camera scrolls across the three Rubak members> you're going on Reward and you will not attend Tribal tonight, <Mary can now be seen shifting her expression> which means you can't be voted out.

Sherea: That's great! <laughs> <The camera shows a close-up view of a delighted Sherea, and then abruptly cuts back to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Before you get to the fun part, you have one big decision to make. <A close-up view of Brooke is now shown> Who're you sending to Exile? <The camera now zooms out to show the three victorious Rubak members huddling together>

Eliza: <whispering> Which of them would be least likely to find the hidden Immunity Idol? <The camera zooms in on Sherea, as Brooke can be heard saying something inaudible>

Sherea: <whispering> I think we should separate Aras and Mary, <A clip of Mary, Aras, and Tracy is now shown> because they might have more plans than Aras and Alexis would… <A close-up view of Alexis is shown, before the camera cuts back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Who's it gonna be? <The camera now returns to Eliza, Sherea, and Brooke>

Eliza: Mary. <There is a prominent drumbeat, as the camera shows Mary smiling knowingly, and then scrolls over to Aras, who tenses his expression. Jeff is then shown again>

Jeff Probst: Alright, Mary; boat's waitin'. <A sad-looking Alexis is shown blowing a kiss to Mary, before the camera switches angles to show a side view of her> You will return to this game at tonight's Tribal Council… <A mysterious shift in the music occurs, as the camera shows Mary climbing into the back of the boat, and then cuts back to the defeated Rubak members>

Jeff Probst: Aras, Tracy, Alexis, Kathy, Mikey: <Jeff is shown, before the camera scrolls across the five castaways> I'll see you at Tribal Council along with Mary, where one of the six of you will be voted out. <Tracy can now be seen nodding her head knowingly> You'll have the afternoon to figure out who that's gonna be; <short pause> should be interesting. <The camera switches angles to show another view of Sherea, Brooke, and Eliza>

Brooke: I'm sorry, you guys… <Another close-up view of an expressionless Tracy is shown>

Tracy: <to Brooke> Don't be. <The camera now returns back to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Grab your stuff; <short pause> head back to camp. <A clip of the five defeated Rubak members is shown, as they wave to their three tribemates and then begin to walk out of the challenge area. The camera now cuts back to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Alright, guys; <short pause> you're going to a Micronesian village. <Sherea, Eliza, and Brooke are shown again> You'll enjoy a little culture; a little food; <Sherea can now be seen nodding her head> get a break from camp… <The camera zooms in on an excited Eliza>

Eliza: And Tribal Council… <laughs> <Jeff is then shown with a subtle smirk on his face>

Jeff Probst: …and Tribal Council. <A close-up view of a smiling Brooke is now shown, as she subtly nods> Congratulations! <Both Eliza and Sherea are then shown next> Enjoy; <short pause> head on out. <The camera shows rapid clips of the three celebratory Rubak members clapping and cheering excitedly. The screen then fades out>

Exile Island - Day 27

<'Lo Tide' plays, as the camera shows a faraway overhead view of several tropical islands and then rapidly flies over to Exile Island and zooms in on it. A side view of the beach is then shown, as Mary can be seen climbing out of the boat and then looking around>

Mary: <talking aloud> This is extreme… <The camera continues to focus on Mary>

Mary - CONFESSIONAL: I just arrived on Exile Island for the first time in the game, <A close-up view of a coconut is shown, as Mary chops into it> and yeah, you know, it's probably not the best timing when there's Tribal Council tonight, <laughs> <Mary can be seen eating a piece of coconut> but <long pause> the girls sending me here is a chance to find the hidden Immunity Idol, <The camera now shows Mary striking the flint with the machete> so even though I'm sure that's not what their intentions were, I'm definitely not gonna say "No." <laughs> <There is a prominent drumbeat, as the music speeds up and the camera shows Mary climbing to the top of the wooden hut. She then examines the first hidden Immunity Idol clue>

Mary: Clue #1: <short pause> To find the next clue, these steps you must follow: It's inside a tree trunk; one that is hollow. <The camera fades out to show a hollowed-out tree trunk> Climb back down the ladder and into the sea; <A clip of Mary climbing down the wooden ladder is shown> The place you first landed holds Immunity. <The camera then fades out to show Mary swimming back to the island, and focuses on her for a few seconds>

Mary - CONFESSIONAL: I just read the first clue, which tells me the second set of information is inside a hollowed-out tree trunk on "the place I first landed," <Mary is shown wandering around a forested area> which would be this island I'm on now. <A prominent sound is heard, as Mary crouches down and pulls the second clue out of the tree trunk> You know, Jason and Mikey have already found the other two idols, <A clip of Mary walking under a rocky overhang is shown> so it'd be nice to find one for the women, <laughs> and <pause> I'm pretty confident I can find it; <Mary is now shown climbing up a grassy hill> I already got two clues… <A close-up view of the blazing sun is shown, before the camera shows an aerial view of Exile Island, and then fades out to show a clip of Mary swimming in the ocean again>

Mary: <to camera> I'm looking for another clue on the seabed, but <pause> the problem is the water's getting deeper and I can't see under… <The camera continues to show Mary>

Mary - CONFESSIONAL: It is extremely hard to survive on Exile Island by yourself, <Mary is heard saying "I'm seeing some little fish"> but the biggest disadvantage for me is having no time to strategize with my alliance, <Mary is now shown dipping her head underwater to look around for the clue, before a clam is shown> no time to discuss our voting options and make sure we're all on the same page. <There is a prominent drumbeat, as the camera cuts back to the main island, where Mary can be seen crouched down in front of her fire>

Mary: <to camera> You know, I didn't find the next clue, but I found this clam so I'm just going to cook it… <Mary is shown putting a piece of clam over her fire, as it sizzles>

<'The Sun King' plays again, as the camera shows a fast-forwarded view of the sky and then fades into an aerial view of the Micronesian village. The camera then fades out to show the three Rubak women lying together in the traditional bai, before zooming in on Sherea>

Sherea: <to camera> It's wonderful; <short pause> we're here at a village in Micronesia, and this is definitely the best Reward so far… <A close-up view of Eliza is now shown next>

Eliza: <to Sherea> The amount of food that we had, <Sherea says "Mm hmm"> like, I literally thought I wasn't gonna be able to eat it all. <laughs> <'MicroNista' begins to play, as the camera shows a snake slithering in the jungle, and then shows a faraway view of the bai. Eliza - CONFESSIONAL: Things are really up in the air at camp right now because there's three members of Aras' alliance, <The camera scrolls across the three Rubak women> and then there's three members of mine and Brooke's and Sherea's alliance, and they're all gonna be vying to come out on top of the vote… <Another close-up view of Eliza is shown next>

Eliza: There's five Fans, and only one Favorite, <Brooke says "Yeah"> not that that seems to be a big deal at this point. <Sherea is now shown, as the camera zooms in on her>

Sherea: Well, hopefully they can get Alexis to vote Aras… <Eliza is then shown again>

Eliza: I'm hoping, just hoping, that Aras is voted off tonight, because Mary might not vote with them; <Sherea can now be seen nodding her head dramatically, as Eliza pauses> that'll make my day a lot better tomorrow… <laughs> <The camera turns back to Eliza>

Eliza - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> I would hate for Mikey or Tracy to go the most because we promised each other that the old Airai would go to the Final Three, <The camera continues to focus on Eliza for a few seconds> and even though I'm still not 100% sure if that's the Final Three I would want, um, I still want to keep those people around... <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera switches angles to show Brooke>

Brooke: You know, I'm thinking just <short pause> us three for the top three because we've been loyal since the beginning. <An uneasy Eliza is shown looking up nervously, before the camera turns to a smiling Sherea>

Brooke - CONFESSIONAL: Everything is still going almost as planned around here, as far as our six-person alliance, <Rapid clips of Eliza and Sherea are shown> but <long pause> if we had to lose one of the three Fans to a purple rock tonight, it definitely wouldn't be the end of the game for any of us. <Another close-up view of Brooke is shown next>

Brooke: If one of them goes home tonight, then we have the numbers over the remaining two… <The camera continues to focus on a contemplative Brooke for a few seconds>

Brooke - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> I mean, it would definitely be more advantageous for that to happen tonight because we would avoid the Fans/Favorites tie-breaker situation at the Final Six, <Both Eliza and Sherea are shown again> Eliza, Sherea, and I can't go home from the purple rock, and we'd keep numbers on our side, so <long pause> I'm almost hoping for that to happen… <The camera goes back to Brooke>

Rubak Tribe - Day 27

<A mysterious music plays, as the camera shows a silhouetted view of the Rubak tribe's island and scrolls around it, before fading out to show the tide washing onto the shore and against a crab. A close-up view of the Rubak tribe's flag is then shown, before the camera shows Alexis and Aras lying in the shelter, and then cuts back to Tracy, Mikey, and Kathy again>

Tracy: We need to figure out between the three of us what we need to do… <The camera abruptly switches angles to show an uncooperative Mikey>

Mikey: <talking loudly> I'm not going home from a friggin' rock! <Kathy can now be seen shifting her expression> Okay?! I'll tell you that right now, so… <Tracy is then shown next>

Tracy: <to Mikey> So are you saying you're gonna vote with them? <A prominent sound is heard, as the camera switches angles to show another clip of a slightly annoyed Mikey>

Mikey: <to Tracy> No, that's not what I'm saying, if you'd let me finish my sentence! <Another close-up view of Tracy is shown, as she says "Okay"> I'm saying, there might be something that can be done to avoid the tie. <The camera zooms back in on Mikey> If we can get Alexis to vote for Aras, and us three vote Alexis, <Kathy and Tracy are both shown exchanging glances> that's our three versus their two and one… <A close-up view of Tracy is shown>

Mikey: Because if us three vote for Aras, and Alexis doesn't, and it's deadlocked, <The camera fades out to show both Aras and Alexis> he gets Immunity and then we're screwed because he'll probably keep winning the single ones; <short pause> you know what I mean? <Another close-up view of a conflicted Tracy is then shown, as she stares ahead>

Tracy: <to Mikey> So you're saying don't vote for Aras… <A wide-eyed Mikey now says "Well…", as the camera continues to focus on her for a few seconds>

Mikey - CONFESSIONAL: The person who we most want to go home would be Aras, <A clip of Aras walking along the beach is shown> and our back-up choice would be Mary, but we don't want to put all our votes towards Aras because if there's a deadlocked tie, <The camera returns to a contemplative Mikey> Aras would become immune and whoever they vote for becomes immune, and the other four would have to draw rocks. <Rapid clips of several Rubak members are now shown next> Plus, we're trying to bait Alexis into voting Aras so that we can use our three votes to keep a majority… <The camera now zooms back in on Mikey>

Mikey: Voting Aras is definitely out… <The camera then cuts back to Tracy again>

Tracy - CONFESSIONAL: Scrambling before Tribal Council is at an absolute height, and there's so many different variables that we all need to think about. <The camera continues to show Mikey, as he speaks to Tracy and Kathy> Because of the three-three split, we're having to vote for the person who we want to stay the most, so <long pause> as it stands right now, Kathy, Mike, and myself, we'll all vote for Alexis, <A clip of an unsuspecting Alexis is shown next> hoping that there is a tie, Alexis will be safe, and Aras or Mary will go home. <There is a prominent sound, as the camera cuts back to Mikey again>

<'Tally the Vote' begins to play, as the camera shows a fast-forwarded view of the sun setting in the darkening sky, and then fades into a faraway view of the Micronesian village Tribal Council. The camera scrolls closer to it, and then fades out again to show a side view of the five Rubak members making their way across the wooden dock. Tracy can be seen setting her torch down, before the camera turns to Mikey, and then zooms out to show all five castaways sitting down at the benches. A close-up view of Jeff is now shown next>

Jeff Probst: We'll now bring in Mary, <Mary is shown walking in to the main Tribal Council area> returning from Exile Island. <The five Rubak members are shown looking towards Mary, as Aras and Alexis, who are sitting on the far left of the tribe, can both be seen aggressively pointing to Kathy and trying to write the letter "K" in the air. Mary is shown with a thoughtful expression on her face, before she sits down on the benches with her tribemates. The camera then focuses back in on Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Well, let me start by pointing out the obvious: <Jeff now turns towards Ian> for the first time ever, we have three people who are missing a Tribal Council after the merge. <The camera scrolls across the six Rubak members, and then turns back to Jeff> Brooke, Sherea, and Eliza are all away on a Reward; <A close-up view of a thoughtful-looking Ian is shown, as he listens intently> they'll be returning to this tribe at the next Reward Challenge. <Ian is shown subtly nodding his head, as the camera continues to focus on him>

Alexis: Um, <short pause> part of me was glad it wasn't me because Mary missed out on a lot of important conversations, <The camera now shows Mikey with a contemplative look on his face> but I mean, it's always sad to see a member from your alliance get sent away, <A quick clip of Aras is then shown next> and <long pause> at this point in the game, you know, who wouldn't want a chance to look for the hidden Immunity Idol? <The camera switches angles to show a close-up view of Tracy, who is listening intently> You know, I feel like Exile Island should be looked at as a welcome opportunity… <A prominent sound is heard, as the camera shows Mary raising her eyebrows, and then goes back to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: So Mary, <long pause> tell me about your time on Exile Island. <Another wide view of all six Rubak members is shown> Did you spend any time looking for the hidden Immunity Idol? <The camera shows another view of Mary, as she nods her head>

Mary: Well, of course, you know, that could be the key to staying in the game, <A rapid clip of a thoughtful Mikey is then shown> so I definitely looked around a little bit to see what I could find, and <long pause> you know, I think I'll leave it at that. <laughs> <Kathy can be seen making a strange face, as a prominent drumbeat is heard, and the camera cuts back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Aras, <short pause> as arguably one of the bigger physical threats in this tribe, you're sitting here tonight without Immunity. <Tracy is shown looking towards Aras> Does that put a target on your back? <The camera now focuses back in on Aras again>

Aras: Not having the Immunity necklace definitely weighs heavily on my mind, because by winning it the first time, I kindof backed myself into a corner, I feel like, <Mary is then shown gazing ahead> where I have to win every time, so <pause> I absolutely feel at risk. <The camera now zooms out to show the entire Rubak tribe> You know, it's the perfect time for them to say "Aras didn't win, so let's take him out tonight," <Tracy can be seen shifting her expression> but <long pause> do I want to go home tonight? Not at all… <Mikey is shown with a thoughtful look on his face, before the camera turns back to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Alexis, <short pause> what was your reaction when you got back to the beach this afternoon with only five people? <Another close-up view of Alexis is shown next>

Alexis: Oh my God; <short pause> it was such a huge shock. <A thoughtful-looking Mary can be seen listening intently> You know, those three are living it up at a village somewhere and here one of us is about to get voted out, <The camera zooms out to show all six Rubak members> but in the same sense, like, to be perfectly honest, I knew that if my team had've won, Aras or Mary would be 100% going home, <A close-up view of Aras is now shown> so at least with all three of us here we have a 50/50 shot of winning out in a tie… <There is an eerie shift in the music, as the camera shows Tracy tensing her expression, and then returns to Jeff>

Jeff Probst: Kathy, <Alexis is now shown coughing and clearing her throat> is that just a known fact among the tribe that everyone's expecting a tie vote tonight? <A close-up view of Kathy is then shown, as she nods dramatically>

Mary: Absolutely; <short pause> I think it's always going to be divided within this six, or within the entire group of nine, <Tracy is then shown listening intently> you know, especially in a tribe with seven women who are all strong and competitive, and sometimes catty. <laughs> <The camera then shows Mikey tensing his expression> I've been a little more on edge the past two days, <Aras can be seen raising his eyebrows> so <pause> um, absolutely, it's gonna be a tribe divided. <The camera focuses back in on Mary again> Having a unified tribe on Day 27 is impossible… <There is a prominent drumbeat, as the camera shows Kathy with a thoughtful look on her face, and then goes back to Jeff again>

Jeff Probst: Aras, <long pause> as we get closer and closer to the vote, <The camera scrolls across several Rubak members, and then zooms in on Aras> can you start to feel paranoia setting in already? <The camera continues to show Aras for a few seconds>

Aras: To be honest, Jeff, paranoia started setting in even before the challenge. <Kathy can now be seen nodding her head> I mean, we were all like "What's going on? Are we not having a Reward Challenge?" <laughs> And then to actually get to the challenge today and find out we have Reward, Immunity, Tribal Council, <The camera shows quick views of both Tracy and Mikey> Exile Island all coming at us at once, you know, <short pause> needless to say, there was paranoia, and I'm experiencing it right now… <laughs> <A mysterious shift in the music occurs, as the camera shows a view of the central fire burning, and then returns to Jeff>

Tracy: <whispering> This is only because we're expecting a tie vote and you're the safest choice to go with. <The music becomes more dramatic, as the camera shows a close-up view of an unsuspecting Alexis> Hopefully Aras picks the purple rock… <The camera then scrolls over to a burning torch. [font size=5]EPISODE 10 NOTES:[/font]

Here are a few important notes about Episode 10 and the rest of this story. Please be sure to read them so that you have a better understanding of what is going on.

1) So there is Episode 10. We're finally into double digits, and there are only 4 more episodes to go. This is an episode that I have some mixed feelings about. I really like all the thought and strategy that had to go into both groups trying to avoid the tie vote, but I think that some of it might have been confusing, which isn't good. Also, I admit that the episode was pretty slow until the challenge, and then when it really picked up a lot. Unlike most episodes, this is one that I really can't predict how it will be ranked. I could see some of you liking it a lot and some of you not liking it. Hopefully the majority are in the "like" camp though.

2) My apologies for forgetting to post the Tribal Council scene at Sucks. Sorry about that confusion, and for ruining the surprise if anyone got it spoiled for them…

3) I guess I do want to say something about Kathy's edit though. I think it's possibly the closest I've ever had to Cristina's in Cook Islands, where she was hardly shown in her boot episode at all. I didn't want Kathy to be UTR1 though because I think that would not really do her justice, so I gave her the little fishing scene just so she could be featured a little bit. It's been interesting for me that some of you called Kathy an OTT distraction for Tracy - I definitely agree with Kathy being OTT, but I always pictured her as being the background character to Tracy, who was always in the forefront. So it's interesting that her edit might not have come across that way. Anyway, I'll touched more on Kathy's edit later in the notes…

4) The rest of the notes will go through the whole episode in order, like usual, and I'll also answer a few questions that I think you might have about what is going on right now:

5) The Episode starts with the aftermath of the last Tribal Council, and Brooke talks about how she was blindsided by the fact that Ian was on the jury when she tried to make sure he wouldn't be. Then Mary and Aras got some confessionals about Ian going and not feeling comfortable in the tribe, and Mary confronted Brooke/Sherea about Tribal Council. Recall that Aras/Mary/Alexis went to the Airai people about voting off Sherea, so she would have obviously be upset with them as well, but the fact that I only showed her yelling at Brooke/Sherea (and really, only Brooke) could possibly be telling. I kept this short because I didn't want a long, drawn-out fight, but it might be somewhat important - it also was partly to explain why Mary was sent to Exile Island.

6) The next scene is, admittedly, nothing special and I know that the episode is pretty slow until the challenge. But this does introduce Mikey saying they he's going to be in the game for the "long haul," (which leads up to him switching his vote to prevent going home). Eliza's confessional about Mary was also supposed to give a reason why they picked her to go to Exile, since she was annoying the Favorites' girls. Then the conversation between Mary and Alexis about Aras was for two reasons: 1) to show that Alexis is going to start being more prominent and not just following behind Aras; 2) to make you think that Alexis might actually vote for Aras. If there was a regular Tribal Council though and Aras didn't have Immunity, Mary and Alexis would have most likely voted for him if they thought it was a lost cause.

The next part of the scene is about the tribe waiting around for their Reward Challenge. In the schedule, there's been a RC the day after Tribal Council every time, and now there wasn't, so that was meant to cause some paranoia. The confessionals from Tracy and Aras are just kindof narrative and meant to keep the story moving along. They're not particularly significant.

7) Then we get a scene on Day 27 of Kathy and Aras fishing, which was included so that Kathy would have a bit of a better boot episode than just an UTR1. I thought it was a fitting scene for her character, although it was meaningless in the bigger picture. That's all I really have to say about it…

8) The next scene is a challenge that turns out to be for Reward and Immunity. At first, I thought the twist of dividing them into three groups and then having one group miss Tribal Council to go on an overnight Reward was an original idea, but then I realized that it was basically what happened at the merge in Fiji except with 3 teams instead of 2. I guess there was an added element to it though with Exile Island, which got Mary out of the loop for the afternoon. I thought that added an interesting dynamic before Tribal Council…

The challenge itself was the one that was used in Episode 6 of real Micronesia, because I knew that it had to be something that Alexis and Tracy (and others) could sortof "sabotage" or help another team win without being incredibly obvious about it. I did think it was more fair to pick the teams this way than having them randomly determined like in Fiji. Aras picking Mary first would be an obvious choice since he'd want them both to be immune if they won. Sherea picked Brooke first (before Eliza), which is going to be more important soon than it appears right now. Alexis picked Mikey because she thought he would be stronger, although strength really didn't matter that much in this challenge. I think all of the other picks made sense too.

9) Why did Brooke, Sherea, and Eliza send Mary to Exile Island?

Mary was picked by the Favorites to go to Exile Island partly because they were all annoyed with her, partly because they thought she had the lowest chance of finding the hidden Immunity Idol and partly because Brooke/Sherea/Eliza wanted to give Kathy/Tracy/Mikey an advantage by sending away one of Aras' votes. The hope was that Mary might vote separately from Aras/Alexis, which would give the three Fans a majority.

10) So now that the challenge is over, we move on to the more interesting part of the episode beginning with the Reward scene, which I didn't find boring (unlike some other Rewards I've written before). The Reward was a trip to a Micronesian village, which tends to be pretty common in the show nowadays. The real show had the winners go to Yap, but I didn't want to have mine be that specific. I did research Micronesian villages and traditions to incorporate into my scene, but the one thing that was influenced by the show was Sherea's confessional about the women being topless. That didn't come up in any of my research, but I thought that the confessional that I wrote fit well with Sherea's personality. The "green plant" that the chief gave to the women is a true thing as well, although I don't know what type of plant it is. They had to carry that into the village as a sign of respect, although I'm not sure why this tradition exists. Finally, I liked Eliza's confessional about the dancing and Sherea's confessional about the young Micronesian guy being attracted to Eliza (like Erik). I hope that part was fun to read about, and I actually thought that Sherea came across fairly positively in this episode. Hopefully she gets her first positive episode ever in one of my stories because I think it might be deserved.

11) After this, we go back to the Rubak tribe where Alexis talks about the twist at the challenge with three people missing Tribal Council. She was probably the smartest person of everyone because she realized that Brooke/Sherea/Eliza needed to win the challenge so that all three of her alliance members would attend Tribal Council and only three of the other alliance would go. This set the stage for the inevitable tie vote and all the strategizing that went on. Tracy had a similar confessional, but she said that everyone in her alliance was focused on not letting anyone from Aras' alliance win, which is why nobody blockaded B/E/S's tunnel, and it was a mistake for them to not look at the numbers. Mikey was upset because he knew that his team had to win to give his alliance the majority. I know all of that sounds confusing… Next, Alexis has a confessional about Mary going to Exile Island interfering with their strategy because they have to come up with some kind of signal to let her know how they're voting. That leads to: the most important thing in this scene is that Aras and Alexis decide they are going to vote for Kathy for strategic reasons.

12) What are the tie-breaker rules?

The rules of a tie-breaker are that the two tied contestants will not vote in a re-vote, but everyone else will re-vote. If the vote is still tied, it is ruled a deadlock, and the two tied contestants are given Immunity along with the person who actually has individual Immunity from winning the Immunity Challenge (which was no one in this episode). The other untied contestants will reach into a bag and the person who picks the purple rock gets voted out.

Before the purple rock, the contestants are given 2 minutes to unanimously decide who should be voted out, but I don't include this in my episodes because I don't think it would really work in most cases and I don't want it to just take up room.

In this episode, Aras and Alexis chose to vote for Kathy because they felt that the vote would be deadlocked. Therefore, Kathy would be given Immunity while Mikey and Tracy (two more threatening players) would have to pull rocks. Obviously, this backfired when Mikey switched his vote, but that was the logic involved.

13) Now we go to Exile Island. I really don't have much to say about this scene, but there's a few things I'll point out: 1) I'm once again leaving it open as to whether or not Mary found the idol, just because that will be more suspenseful instead of just revealing it now. 2) Mary was going to vote for Tracy at this point, but she does say that she'll be looking for a signal from her alliance. I put this in there because I wanted you to think that Mary might have voted separately from them.

14) The next Reward scene is more strategy-oriented and has the three Favorites girls talking about what is going on back at camp. Eliza recaps the 3-3 voting situation and says that things are up in the air. Sherea suggests the idea of trying to get Alexis to vote for Aras (which comes up in the next scene), and then Brooke proposes that Brooke/Sherea/Eliza go to the Final Three together. She also says that if one of the Fans happens to go due to the purple rock it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. Let me explain the logic here: if everything went as planned and the Final Six was B/S/E/T/K/M, there would most likely be a tie between Brooke/Sherea/Eliza and Mikey/Tracy/Kathy at that point. Mikey MAY have voted with the Favorites, but there'd probably be a tie with the Fans and Favorites both trying to come out on top. So Brooke was saying that if one of the Fans leaves now from a purple rock, that gives the Favorites a 3-2 advantage over the remaining Fans in their alliance. This is what happened with Kathy leaving, so in theory, if Aras' alliance was out of the picture, Brooke/Sherea/Eliza would have a majority over Tracy/Mikey. You might be able to see a problem with this though, which I won't blatantly give away…

15) Back to camp for the rest of the strategy scene. This is where things get really complicated, I think, because there's a lot of "if, then" scenarios being thrown out. Mikey starts off right away by telling Tracy and Kathy that he's not going to go home from picking a rock. He then comes up with the same plan that Alexis came up with: to vote for the person that they want to stay the most. His alliance decides to vote for Alexis, because if the vote is deadlocked, Alexis would be immune and Aras/Mary would have to pick the rock. This is the same reasoning Alexis used before. But since Mikey fears the purple rock, he comes up with another idea: to try to get Alexis to vote for Aras so that the vote will go 3-(2)-1. The reason they don't vote for Aras is because he's be immune from the purple rock if it was deadlocked and the wanted to get rid of him the most. The reason they don't vote for Mary is because if she played the idol, then Aras' alliance would automatically win out. So Alexis was the only choice:

At this point, the votes are going to go like this:

VOTING FOR ALEXIS: Tracy, Kathy, Mikey

VOTING FOR KATHY: Aras, Alexis, Mary???

16) There's a few things that you didn't see that happened. 1) Mikey tried to convince Aras/Alexis to vote for HIMSELF prior to wanting Alexis to vote for Aras. This way, MIKEY would be the one that was immune from the purple rock. This was the only way that he would let the vote be a deadlock, and he stated this openly. Once he saw the first vote for Kathy, he knew he was going to change it. 2) Knowing that Mikey might potentially switch, Tracy and Kathy talked about potentially voting Mikey off. The reason they didn't was the same reason that Alexis didn't vote for Aras. No one could trust each other. Aras/Alexis could have just agreed to vote out Mikey and then not done it because that would have split T/K/M's votes with 2 for Mikey, 1 for Alexis, and then 3 for Kathy. That's why they decided to stay unified at first and vote for Alexis as a group of 3. I can't even say it enough: there was SO MUCH strategy going on.

Anyway, aside from that, Mikey did try to get Alexis to vote for Aras, and what she did was very smart: she was going to vote for Kathy at first to ensure that the vote was actually a tie, and IF T/K/M really did vote for Aras, then Alexis *would* have switched to Aras and he would have been voted out. Aras could have been gone, but those three voted for Alexis instead.

I kindof touched on Mikey not wanting to pick the rock already, but I think his last confessional before Tribal Council explained it well. In general, it's just a really crappy way to leave the game and that's why I had them bring up Denise in China getting screwed over by it (normally, I wouldn't reference events from a past season, but this season is okay since it's Fans vs. Favorites). Besides, if it wasn't now, Mikey was likely to betray Tracy/Kathy at some point in the game, possibly at Final Six as I mentioned in an earlier note.

The last thing I want to say is that I liked Alexis' confessional before the challenge - it was very smart, I think, and that even though it's really an obvious thing, I liked the idea that she was going to cough at Tribal Council whenever Jeff said Kathy's name. I think the fact that Aras/Alexis had to try to signal Mary about the vote would be fun to watch because they'd definitely be very frantic about it. So hopefully there was some suspense going into Tribal Council and you didn't know exactly what was going to happen…

17) Tribal Council: it starts with a little funny moment of Alexis and Aras trying to point to Kathy and write a "K" in the air, which is something that's never happened before, and then Ian walks in and says "Where'd half the tribe go?" I thought that was a good way to start off, and I also thought there would some good answers at Tribal Council. Alexis actually talked quite a bit, which is a big change. I liked Mary not really commenting on how much she looked for the idol or whether or not she found it. I also liked her answer saying that the tribe is always going to be divided within every group, especially on Day 27. I thought that was an honest answer compared to some people who might have just said the tribe was unified. Tracy also gave an insightful comment about the jury, I think, and Mikey's short but sweet answer emphasized again that he was voting strategically and for self-preservation, as did Alexis'.

18) Now we get to the voting, and we see one for Kathy and one for Alexis, which should have been expected. Mary also was heard saying that she hopes she made the right vote (I did show her looking over at Alexis when Alexis did the second cough). Basically, what you saw happening was a completely new strategy where everyone voted for the person who they wanted to stay the most. This did result in a tie, but because Aras' group didn't vote for Mikey like he wanted them to, he would have been vulnerable to the purple rock after the deadlocked tie. Therefore, Mikey ended up switching his vote to Kathy and said that he was "evening the score" between him and Tracy. As you know, they always did have almost a rivalry even since Episode 1, so I don't think this is that unexpected from him. Hopefully there was enough provided in the episode to justify why he switched his vote. When he said "You got me, now I got you," he was referring to the blindside in Episode 8 where he used the hidden Immunity Idol.

So Kathy ends up going and Aras survived the vote WITHOUT having the Immunity necklace. Remember he said he didn't want to have to rely on it to stay in the game, so the fact that this happened, could ultimately be good for his chances.

19) A LOOK AHEAD AT EPISODE 11

Well, after Episode 9 being very predictable and Episode 10 being probably very Unpredictable, Episode 11 should fall somewhere in the middle between the two. I've only written a little bit of it so far, but I think it's going to be a more middle-of-the-road kind of episode. I'll say that the Reward itself (not the challenge) will be interesting because it's designed to cause some dissent in the tribe, and it's something that has never really been done of the show before. Bonus points if you can guess what that is. Other than that, I can't really reveal much about the episode. You might be surprised by the reactions from Tracy/Mikey though. That will be interesting to see…
