It's funny because I was walking at night near a bar on my way to Mc Donalds and I passed by some white trashy drunks and they were like

"Spitting is fun!!"

I was like um yeah...trying to get away fast, I couldn't turn away and had to passs by them.

Then as I walk right by, he eyes me and goes "Scum of Canada". I was like . I kept walking I didn't want to see what he wants to do to scum.

I've been told I look Turkish and Lebanese, middle eastern. one girl in high school was like "You from Palestine?" I was like "Where's that, isn't that actually Israel?" That didn't go over well. Whoops. I'm not up to speed on politics. My background is Portuguese/Brazilian btw.

So I'm thinking he thought I was a recent arrival or something. The lyrics of the song brought it up.

I did pig out :-) I was kinda intimidated about walking back, I took the long route home.

I have more sympathy now for those who come here newly arrived and get the backlash they get. It really sucks. Not that I didn't know that before but experiencing the hate myself, it was weird. I know the comment was racially motivated intuitively. He looked at me up and down and looked really angry and said that. I get mistaken sometimes to be middle eastern but this is the first time I got a backlash. Makes you appreciate the struggles others go through in life, the old saying "walk a mile in my shoes......"
