Regice and Registeel are teh sexy legendariness. Regirock's just an ugly pile of gravel.
Still, R/S/E have some pretty cool Pokemon, and I like these additions moreso than most of the Generation II Pokemon. Mightyena > Houndoom. Zigzagoon and Linoone >>>> Sentret and Furret |

75. Exploud (Normal) This thing is creepy and disgustingly ugly. I thought it was bad looking from the front, but then I actually started training on in Sapphire and it has all these holes in the back of its head, like some kind of living, breathing pipe organ, or worse, a really ugly heart. All Exploud's attacks, except I think for Stomp, are sound related, which is cool, I guess. But once again, Exploud just isn't anything special in my eyes.
74. Volbeat (Bug) It's amazing how something as weak as Volbeat can rank so high, simply by being put in comparison to Illumise. While Illumise learns no decent attacks and has utter shit for stats, Volbeat learns Tail Glow and Signal Beam, both of which are pretty damn good attacks. I can actually level up Volbeat through battle, whereas with Illumise, I stick an EXP share on her and hope for the best. Overall, I just have to keep Volbeat and Illumise seperated by a great number to fully explain how much hatred I have for Illumise.
73. Dusclops (Ghost) While I dislike Duskull, once it evolves, it's not half-bad in combatl. Sure, the HP isn't great still, but Dusclops has good defenses that make it ten times better than Duskull, with all the same abilities. Will-O-Wisp, Curse, Confuse Ray and Shadow Punch (a totally badass move that implies a Ghost punching the shit out of something) make up a good moveset, at least for in-game, and they allow me to completely fuck with any opponent that's unprepared for an annoyer.
72. Hariyama (Fighting) Much like Makuhita, I give Hariyama credit for being unique in a generation of so many clones. But still, I just can't bring myself to care too much about the guy. I mean, on the route between Mauville and Verandturf, there's two Hariyamas you can fight over and over and over again while grinding for EXP. But the problem with them is just how annoying they are to battle. Their high HP ensures that you can't OHKO them, and thus, you're subjected to the annoyance of a Pokemon that ALWAYS fucking uses Whirlwind, thus cutting any EXP gained in half. And that shit pisses me off.
71. Plusle (Electric) Plusle is basically the same as Minun, only it's like they actually put effort into designing her. And I say her, because Plusle is clearly the more feminine of the two Pokemon, what with the fact that red is simply a more feminine color and again, because Plusle seems like effort was put into her design. Still, I can't seperate Plusle and Minun by THAT much, given how they're almost identical in moveset and stats. They're both just Pikachu rip-offs. |

Exploud is one of those mysterious 3rd stage evolutions that seem like they should be used...except no one ever uses them. Normal is major *yawn* though.

Huh, see I pictured plusle as the guy because blue seems to more often than not be the feminine colour in Pokemon games. (i.e. Nidoran, Illumise)
ETA: As Minun is also the more *boring* of the two, that would most likely make it female as females are often less interesting in the wild because they're not trying to impress anyone. See also: Beautifly (who is clearly the male, not Dustox), Nidoran♂ and Mothim.

O_o. Beautifly looks like a Pokemon girls would have. (See Anime for refrences). The huge popularity it got was from a female fanbase and most Beautifly were
usually connected to female characters in general.

70. Kecleon (Normal) Kecleon is one of the many new gimmick Pokemon they created for RSE, and although it's a decent enough idea in theory, it winds up being rather annoying in practice. It's got the Color Change ability, which means that if hit with an attack, it changes its type from Normal to that attack. However, up against a Pokemon with a wide variety of moves, this could easily be exploited, and I make a point to exploit it whenever possible.
69. Roselia (Grass/Poison) I really wish they'd just focus on making pure Grass-types rather than forcing all Grass Pokemon into some stupid type combination, or one like Grass/Poison which is extremely overused. Roselia is not that bad of a Pokemon, but the problem with most single-form Pokemon is that the earlier they're found in the game, the weaker they are overall. That's probably why Roselia was given an evolution in DP, because it's not that good in RSE.
68. Medicham (Fighting/Psychic) Medicham has the same problem described for its first form, Meditite, in that the combination of Psychic with a physical type often makes the attacks of both types weaker. And Medicham looks really weird because it's like this really skinny guy wearing Hammer pants. And that's just not right, I don't care what the situation is. Fortunately, we're getting close to the portion of this list where I actually like the Pokemon as opposed to being apathetic towards them.
67. Sharpedo (Water/Dark) I'll admit, the idea of a shark Pokemon was badly needed by RSE, so I won't criticize Sharpedo for being an unnecessary Water Pokemon. What I will criticize it for is the same thing I criticize Carvanha for. They're both fast and really strong, yet neither have any attacks that really use that high attack stat. And their special ability is completely wrong given how it requires a Pokemon to be physically attacked in order to do a slight bit of extra damage. And given the weak defenses, this isn't helpful to Sharpedo.
66. Castform (Normal) And the last Pokemon for this update is yet another gimmick Normal-type. I like Castform, actually. I like how it's basically capable to changing its type of its own free will, just by using either Sunny Day, Hail, or Rain Dance. And it's the only Pokemon that learns Weather Ball, a move that, like Castform, changes with the weather. The only problem is that to really enjoy Weather Ball, you have to fill up Castform's moves with three weather moves, thus limiting it greatly. |

65. Registeel (Steel) Again, I commend the creators of RSE for going against the typical Fire, Electric, Water/Ice typings of their legendary animals and instead changing things so that the legendary trio was more like ancient robots. But the problem is that I just don't like tanks that much. I mean, high defense is great when you're fighting in competitive battles, but it's annoying as hell when you're trying to train a supposedly "legendary" Pokemona and it takes forever because its attack and speed stats suck ass. Registeel falls where it does because it looks cooler and more put-together than Regirock, but not as awesome as Regice.
64. Sceptile (Grass) And falling much later than its GSC and RBY counterparts, we have the first RSE starter Pokemon on our list. I never really used the Treecko line in Ruby or Sapphire because I just liked Torchic and Mudkip that much more. Those two made training both easy and fun. Treecko was always behind except for maybe the first gym. And Sceptile continues the trend of Grass starters with potential being made ugly as sin in their final form. I mean, it's extremely sad that Meganium is the closest they've come to making a final form Grass starter that ISN'T a complete joke.
63. Lunatone (Rock/Psychic) I give Lunatone a lot more credit than Solrock because it's just plain better in almost all regards. It doesn't trying to pretend like its some sort of Fire-type. It knows that it's Rock/Psychic and devotes its talents to those two types. Plus, unlike Solrock, Lunatone is a much smoother design that looks like it actually took some effort to craft, while Solrock looks like someone with Parkinson's disease drew it. And finally, Lunatone also carries Moon Stones in the wild, which makes it infinitely more useful than the fucking Sun Stones that Solrock carries.
62. Walrein (Water/Ice) If it wasn't so slow, I'd probably rank Walrein a few spaces higher in the grouping of Pokemon that I actually like as opposed to being indifferent to. In a generation with so many Water-types, Walrein actually manages to stand out because of the fact that it's a third-form, and because it's a partial Ice-type. As I mentioned with Sealeo, I like Ice-types, even though they're usually hideous, because, and pardon the pun, they have a "cool" way of attacking. And you've also gotta give credit to Ice-types for being one of the few things strong against Dragons.
61. Skitty (Normal) Well at least Nintendo knows how to make their kittens cute, even if the adult cats are ugly as sin. Isn't that right, JaMalle? *petpet* Skitty is not all that special on its own in the game. In fact, because it's a Moon Stone evolution, that just makes it more annoying because not only is it rare in the wild, and not only is it extremely weak, but also, you have to keep it unevolved for a very long time before it finally learns its most useful moves. Skitty rates this high on my list though because it spawned the fad of "Hot Skitty on Wailord action" once people realized that this tiny little kitty cat could breed with the largest Pokemon in the game due to being in the same Egg Group. |
