Family Guy can't be nominated in Comedy Series and Animated Series at the same time. There's a new rule allowing an animated series to submit in both categories provided it's a different episode for each. Another poster pointed this out in the thread. So, if Family Guy ends up nominated for Best Comedy (not impossible, it's a show that plays better with a large crowd than others) and Best Animated Series, it could potentially lose the Best Animated Series award which would make the Emmys look even more ridiculous. |

Pleasantly surprised to see Sharon Gless on that list.

Thats not a very exciting list of supporting actresses. Where's Lost's Yunjin Kim? The only one that kinda excites me is Rachel Griffiths and Jill Clayburn. Because lots of Dirty Sexy Money love would be hilarious. I think then that Donald Sutherland has to be a lock then. |

The 10 semifinalists are: That pisses me off to no end. Rose Byrne is UNDENIABLY the lead of that show. WTF is she doing in "supporting"? I'll tell you what. She's not good enough to stand up in the lead category and they wouldn't want to split votes with Glenn, anyway. So they throw her in supporting despite the fact that she is the lead in the hope of manipulating a nomination out of it. Stupid! They should not be able to choose their category - objective analysis of the role should determine whether it constitutes lead or supporting! |

Here is best supporting actor (notably missing last year's winner - Terry O'Quinn - as well as Henry Cusick and Robert Sean Leonard and Michael K.
Williams (freakin' Omar)). Still it's a good list with 11 semifinalists, making it possible and likely to have 6 finalists this year. Only locks I see
are Ted Danson, Michael Emerson, Shatner and possibly Underwood (his tape was excellent). I haven't see Mad Men yet but he may be a lock as well.
BEST SUPPORTING DRAMA ACTOR Naveen Andrews, "Lost" ("The Economist") Bruce Dern, "Big Love" ("Good Guys and Bad Guys") Christian Clemenson, "Boston Legal" ("Roe vs. Wade, The Musical") Ted Danson, "Damages" ("Jesus, Mary and Joe Cocker") Michael Emerson, "Lost" ("The Shape of Things to Come") Zeljko Ivanek, "Damages" ("I Hate These People") T.R. Knight, "Grey's Anatomy" ("Freedom, Parts 1 & 2") William Shatner, "Boston Legal" ("Mad About You") John Slattery, "Mad Men" ( "Long Weekend") Blair Underwood, "In Treatment" ("Alex: Week 6") Jake Weber, "Medium" ("Wicked Game, Part 1") |

Fucking Shatner.
I really hope Emerson gets the Emmy this year, he is wonderful on Lost. Surprised Terry didn't make the semi-final cut, and Naveen did. That was a good eppy though. |

I forgot to mention that Matthew Fox is definitely in the top 10 and there is a rumor that so is Evangeline Lilly.

Wow, Bruce Dern but no Harry Dean Stanton? Glad to see Big Love in any case. Michael Emerson for the win!

Great to see Anna Friel get some credit. Though the Emmy people should be slapped with a fish if Chi McBride doesn't get nommed (win).
Too bad Jim Dale can't be nominated for something. |

I hope Danson and Ivanek don't split votes. But they're both deserving of a nomination.

Rose Byrne, Ted Danson, and Zeljko Ivanek deserve to win everything. If Glenn Close doesn't win lead actress I'm going to kill the jury's dog
and frame someone else for it.
No Cobie Smulders from HIMYM though |

What to make of these so far:
-- Seems I shouldn't have underestimated Damages and Mad Men, and I may have over estimated The Tudors -- Too much love for Boston Legal and Grays Anatomy ONCE AGAIN. Locks for the Best Drama category? -- if the Wire makes the top 5, I predict it will be out of some sort of tribute and not because anybody cares for it. I say that because there are at least half a dozen male performances that should have been included. Hello, Omar? Bubbles? Fat Joe? |

Guess I was wrong about Matthew and Evangeline. That sucks - I actually think he does a great job. Much better than Dempsey.
I hope Spader doesn't win but more than that I hope Dempsey isn't nominated. |
