So those are the episodes they submitted? I would be happy with either Damages or Boston Legal winning. THough for BL I personally liked the episode where
Allen represented Shirley whens he wanted to end her father's life

I think Grey's only got in because of its perfect choice of episode to submit. Freedom was by far one of the best episodes ever in the series.

I have no idea which episode that was.

I thought they didn't submit episodes until after they are semifinalists or whatever? The initial balloting/voting is like a free for all.

The voters had a marathon screening of the drama shows yesterday and there is another one today.
Based on two voters' opinions (at Goldderby), the crowd most definitively loved Boston Legal, House, Damages and Mad Men (all with a high likelihood of being nominated). The fifth slot is less clear - it's between Lost, Grey's and The Wire (with this one being the least likely). The Wire suffered from being the last show to air (it was alphabetical but today is reverse alphabetical so it may be different today) - goes to show how arbitrary it all is. |

I find Boston Legal funny, but why exactly is it in the drama catagory, and why is it going to beat out Dexter for a nomination in that? |

Breaking Bad got snubbed. Hopefully Bryan Cranston will get an acting nomination.

30 Rock deserves to win everything. This season was even better than the first. Ugly Betty had some rough patches this season, so hopefully they'll submit
good episodes--it was still such a wonderful show.

It still irks me that Jane Kazmereck (sp?) never won a single Emmy for her portrayal of Lois on MITM. Meanwhile, that
hag, Patricia Heaton, from Raymond won it several times during the same era. Ugh!!!
It irks me even more that DH lost out Best Comedy Series to Raymond back in 2005 too! UGH!!! |

How many episodes does a show need to have to be considered? "Tracey Ullman's State of the Union" only had five, but she was absolutely
brilliant. Would love to see her win something.

moovivor, I think five episodes is the minimum for a series. If not, it's six. I remember the British Office either missing five or only airing five
episodes on BBC America during a given period so they were ineligible for the Emmys.

Just had an odd thought, wouldn't it be midly amusing if Family Guy ended up nominated for Best Comedy and lost the award for Best Animated Series? Would
the Emmys suddenly implode on themselves?

Family Guy can't be nominated in Comedy Series and Animated Series at the same time.

Whoa, now that's actually a pretty good list. No HIMYM again, though -- are any of them in the supporting category. I guess it'd be kind of hard to
call any of that ensemble a leading actor. Alsyon Hannigan should be a lock.
