My last official duty as boss was to give all the salaried guys today off with pay, and the option of taking three unpaid days off for the rest of the week.
Had to hire security for the two sites for daytime hours in addition to night shift, as no one including outside contractors wanted to work. You can't push
workers around in a place with the opportunities to jump ship like Alberta.
I was a good boss. As of midnight tonight I am on an 18 month partial siesta. |

Update. I've seriously done about 3 minutes of work all day.
And my colleague just informed me she has an "appointment" and has to leave early. Which leaves me as the commander of this sinking ship |

What a hellish day.
Someone was late. Package lost by FedEx. Not enough people working. Elevator broken. Fire alarm testing. Only me and 3 day old new guy working. No money. Had to borrow money otherwise I would have had to use my own money. My shift ends. Too hot. People yelling. Had to go buy distilled water for someone. Tours arrive early. Bag guy slow as paste. Tour leaders yell. No air conditioning. Guests yell. Need fans. Luggage lost.Try to look for fans. Guests yell that they want fans. I yell back saying if you keep yelling at me, you are preventing me from getting your goddamned fans. Maybe not the swear word. Get teary. Find fan. Bring asshole two fans. Asshole has 5 fans now, WTF? Tell asshole he's probably going to blow his power. Gives one fan back. Why still at work? Can't leave. Too busy. More bags arrive. Help slow as paste bag guy. Need new job or rich man. Haven't eaten. Starving. Fatties need food. Only peed once. Extra 3.5 hours today working. Off tomorrow. Going to make a batch of Cosmos now. The End. |

Wow how I envy you.
You live in what is most definitely the most beautiful place in canada. I live in a small town outside of Edmonton where everybody finishes sentences with "you betcha!" Me and the old man are gonna drive over and crash with you for a few days. Fill the fridge. |

Hubby and his buddy were talking about Lake Louise the other day actually.
They were saying that the color of the water is almost unnatural it's so beautiful. I still haven't seen Banff nois, but when we went to Jasper last year I was blown away at the mountains. When we were driving in after Hinton I said, "why do the clouds look so crooked?" not even realizing it was the cut of the mountains I was seeing. Jasper was beyond beautiful, but we're taking that one step further this year. Again, you are a lucky woman to wake up to that every day. |
