I was considering going to an open casting call tomorrow, but am wondering if it's better to just apply normally. Is it worth it or more beneficial to
apply at an open casting call?

It seems like there are two sorts of open casting calls - one where actual Survivor people are there, and one where it's just people from the local
affiliate who will tape you. My impression is that the first kind might be worthwhile, but the second kind is only useful if you don't have the ability to
make your own tape.

If you can't make your own tape, just put up a craigslist ad - even say you'll only pay them if you get a callback. People were all over my ad for
that (I don't have a camera).

They are good experience but they are somewhat unpredictable if you are not prepared with something to say or do. Most of t hem they put you in front of a
camera and tell you when to start and stop. Thats it a lot of people freeze up. I think they picked more from casting calls in past than they do now. It's
a fun experience tho and you should look at it that way, go to have fun be yourself. The last one in Dallas had a really poor turn out and they didnt have one
for Gabon. If you are looking for a career in reality then you should try modeling, acting work even its just small extra work and apply for other reality
shows. Big Brother and Amazing Race and Survivor are all Cast by same people.

There have been a lot of people pulled from the Casting calls in Dallas one from Vanuatu had a Casting tape in the same room I was in. Some have a lot more
people than the Locals from CBS 11. Can you tell who they are? Not unless you know them... I had a guy come up and shove a recorder in my face and ask me
questions. Said he was with a radio station. But they didn't have it on the Radio. They do goofy things to get the crowd involved. Like dancing contests,
joke telling and impressions. So maybe someone is watching the crowd. When you actually do the Tape it seems like they don't give a Crap. At first they
used Real Television Cameras lately they use little ones like you might use for your tape. The ones in bars and grills are more fun. Some people get drunk and
its funny. Lots of big breasted women flaunting it. I usually send a tape and do casting call but I am old fat guy and millions of us apply. I just do it for
fun now. I am a huge fan. Since I didn't get a call I went to Australia to make up for it. Maybe South America next.

Camera man said that to me once and I locked up like a safe. I was pissed. But what the hell. You only live once. At my age you are just happy if you don't
lock up permanently. Practice in front of mirror or other people. So you look and feel natural. They always say be yourself. If you have a camera play it back
on your tv see if you like it,

i went to one i stood out, bc there were only like 40 ppl auditioning plus they were all drunken biker-types i also sent in a tape. hopefully it works out! and
there were definitely no casting executives there (unless they were disguised)

yeah i got there at about 20 minutes before the call was scheduled to occur. i figured i'd be really late, and have to stand in a line of 300+ people. but
when i got there, people were just standing around, waiting to get numbers. i don't want to reveal exactly where i was--just b/c of possible casting
reasons, idk. but you could probably guess if you look at the old list of casting calls. i was happy though--i think i had one of the better auditions. what
about anyone else? were there a lot of young people at yours? (like 18 or 19?)

I went today nice to see younger people applying so you got 18 yr olds and 60 year old people showing up together. They had free BBQ great ribs. Was kind of
cool this time they were not assholes like last time. Very nice a guy and two hot girls were in the room. Did better than usual and i got a Buff and my picture
taken.
