On the Amanda Bynes show from a long time ago they had a spoof on survivor skit where the six players had to stay in this car in the parking lot for a long time.Those car contests have been around a lot longer than this show; I distinctly remember hearing one discussed by the morning DJs (it was hosted by a radio station) when I was in grad school, which was 1994-95, 5 years before Survivor.
The Weakest Link was adapted from Survivor. At least the mechanics.Well, pretty much ALL reality shows involve "eliminating one by one until only the winner (or pair/group of finalists) is left". It is true that they started being made in droves after Survivor, but you could say that dates back to Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians , though (or the Friday 13, etc slasher movies).
