I guess waiting is a thing us fans have to go through, huh? Anyone a LOST fan here?

Just watched the miniseries, and it reconfirmed that I love this series. It's so odd though that at the beginning of the series, everyone had no hope of finding a home from the Cylons, and now it looks like they're very close to finding Earth.

You know, the only thing person that would really surprise me is Helo -- mainly because to me, he represents the soul of the humans. I can see a Helo reveal causing me to say WTF?!?!

I would like Helo to be the final Cylon as that would mean more screentime for this very good and very hot actor. But since he's supposed to be the 'human' part of the 'human/Cylon' hybrid child, that would make no sense whatsoever. I mean, if Cylons could reproduce naturally, why wouldn't they have done so already?

I agree with you that Zarek now seems the most logical choice and would be maybe the most satisfying.

To clarify -- it's not the season finale. It's the mid season break. Second half of the season in January-ish. Of course, that's long enough to make it feel like the season finale....

'Battlestar's' final season expands; TV movie looking good

As "Battlestar Galactica" gets ready to air its mid-season finale on Friday, there are two bits of good news to share regarding the show.

According to well-informed sources, it's almost certain that at least one "Battlestar Galactica" TV movie will be made this year.

Here's even better news: Up to two hours may be added to "Battlestar's" final run of episodes.

You heard that right: The last leg of the show's final season could expand to 12 hours, instead of the originally planned 10 hours.

As he discussed here, the show's executive producer, Ronald D. Moore, wrote "Battlestar's" final episode, which could be up to three hours long (a wild guess here: Sci Fi probably wouldn't air the whole thing in one night). Mary McDonnell described her reaction to the script this way: It filled her with "an incredible feeling of adrenaline," she told Ain't It Cool News. "It made me understand the entire saga, and made me excited for all of you."

As for when the final part of Season 4 will air, Moore has told TV Guide that it's probably going to be in 2009. (Update: EOnline.com reports that the president of Sci Fi has said the last episodes will begin airing in the "first quarter" of 2009.)

Regarding the "Battlestar" TV movie, as "Razor" did, it will probably air on Sci Fi first then be released on DVD within days (the preceding sentence was updated with new information from a Sci Fi rep). There's no word on who will be in the movie, what it will be about and when it will air. All of that is still to be determined.

In a previous story, I'd reported that up to three films were being considered. Whether the other two "Battlestar" TV movies will get made is an open question at this point, but it is possible, according to my sources and according to Galactica Sitrep (which also has wall-to-wall coverage of Wednesday's screening of the mid-season finale at Los Angeles' Cinerama Dome).

The ending, in addition to the strength of Saul Tigh's sexiness, pretty much made up for all the shittier episodes this season.

UPDATE!! Independent, uninpeachable sources assure me that there will be a total of 11 new regular-series "Battlestar Galactica" Hours in 2009.

The original plan was to use the last two hours for the series finale. When the finale was expanded from two to three hours, 2009 got its 11th hour.

That had to be one of the single best hours of television ever broadcast.

Grrrr on the final skinjob not being revealed. Anybody notice Deanna said it wasn't with the fleet though? So maybe a newbie on Earth or something?

Wow. I though the series would reveal the final one first and conclude with the arrival on Earth. Leave it to BSG to take the more complex route.

So what were we supposed to get from that last shot of everybody on Earth? Was it like post-apocalyptic looking...I thought it just looked cold like they landed in Canada during winter which would give me a disappointed look too I guess.

My thinking is that it's nuclear winter -- post nuclear holocaust devastation. I couldn't be sure, but that looked like a nuked NYC, too.

I've always had a theory that Earth had already fought the toasters and won (inferring this from the Cylon virus a few seasons ago -- that was the weapon the Earthlings used to win), so maybe the toasters nuked Earth prior to the victory or maybe the Earthlings got nuked, but still somehow won, then left and went elsewhere. Like New Caprica or something.

I'm thinking that as the camera panned right we were supposed to pick out a landmark. They clearly were on a site that used to be inhabited. I'm thinking the broken bridge at the very end before it went to black was supposed to be the Brooklyn Bridge.

Next half of the season should be interesting. Too bad we need to wait FOREVER for it...
