Wow, this show doesn't take a break. Season 4 starts June 30th. And there's still 2 shows left from this season.

I'm sure they need the money. I know they are trying to move to a bigger house.

Anyone know how much they make an episode?

Also, it's probably easy and fun to do the show compared to living their lives and NOT doing the show. Imagine raising eight kids and never getting
"interview breaks" while someone else watches the kids? Or not getting all the freebies they get by schilling names and companies out on the air?
They also seem to be at the height of their popularity right now, so I'd milk the cashcow for all its worth.

I just started watching this show and it is intriguing. I'm wondering if they ever do marathon 'cause their are many shows I've missed and I'd
like to know what you guys are talking about. I'm guessing they had a show on potty training at some point. I can only imagine how difficult it would be
to train six at once. I am very impressed that they are all potty-trained before four years of age. Given they are all preemies and three of them are boys
that is quite a feat. I think the potty's all around the house are pretty gross but I understand the necessity for now. I don't hate Kate as I can
understand some of her controlling behavoir but she does need to give poor John a break now and then. She is very lucky to have found such an easy-going guy
who clearly loves his children and enjoys spending time with them.

New season will be $65,000 per episode for them, I've heard.
Yes, they do marathons - usually short marathons (4 episodes) on Wednesdays, and sometimes longer ones on the weekends. It's on here and there all the time. Yes, they did do 2 potty training themed episodes - she trained the girls first and then a year later, the boys. She didn't want to be training all 6 at once and girls are easier, she said. The girls trained at around 2.5 years old and the boys at 3.5 years old. |

One other thing that always drives me nuts is Kate's accent during the intro. At the very end she says, "This is ARE life!" instead of pronouncing it, "OUR", like it's supposed to be. Grr.That's a NorthEast thing - part of the accent/regional speak. I'm in Massachusetts and we say "ARE" for "our" too. |

Being from Mass I guess I never even noticed her accent. I would imagine this is now their full time job. Not a bad gig.

suckedintoreality wrote: If that was true there is no way they would have money issues. It cant be that much! Id be suprised if its even more thatn 10,000. I mean its not a major network, its the tlc. I doubt the tlc makes enough to be able to pay them 65,000. How many viewers do the episodes average cause that also effects things!?!? |

Yeah, I would think maybe 65k for the whole season, not per episode. I wonder if they make more than the Roloffs because there's so many of them.

Redhead9015 wrote: I was thinking 65K per season as well, no way it could be that much per episode considering how many episodes per season they have. It seems like 40 episodes a season (though its probably more like 25). That would be a nice suppliment to Jon's income, but not enough that they still dont have to be careful with their money considering how many of them there are. |

300 crumb crunching ankle biters
Even $65K a season, even after taxes will keep them somewhat afloat combined with John's IT income. Those kind of job usually pay 80+ K a year. Not enough probably to have a college fund for each kid, but at least food on the table, clothes on their back and a roof over their head. Mercy, with the personal exemptions for each kid and the standard deduction (although I am sure their home mortgage, state income taxes and property taxes exceed the standard deduction), they have at least $40K tax free (less FICA taxes) to pay for basic expenses. Are there child tax credits, too, even for middle class incomes? I dunno, I don't have kids and pay someone else to worry about my tax returns. But 65K doesn't quite seem like enough for the disruption in their lives, but maybe the camera crew is only there a few days a week, a few weeks at a time, so it really is a part time gig.

I refuse to watch this show. Having ridiculous numbers of kids is irresponsible with the human population being what it is. If you can't conceive
naturally, adopt, or use selective reduction. If you're morally opposed to that, only use methods of fertility treatment that cannot result in 5-6-7 babies
at once.
It drives me nuts to hear people say it's god's plan for them to have this many kids. No, Kate, apparently his "plan" was for you not to have kids and you defied it by getting pregnant anyway. |
