I used to attend some wicked fun parties on Upper Nemahbin Lake!
UPDATE: Dam fails jeopardizing homesWater rushing through the Bark River Dam at Nagawicka Lake has caused the failure of a downstream dam and is causing water to rise to dangerous levels on Upper Nemahbin Lake in western Waukesha County, Summit Police Chief James Race said.Six Upper Nemahbin lake houses have been evacuated and another 12 would be in jeopardy if water keeps rising, Race said. County Highway DR has been closed between Waterville Road and the Bark River because of standing water,18 inches deep in places, caused by the dam failure. Interstate 94 is not in jeoopardy, Race said. The DNR is at the dam site attempting to block the millrace and slow the draining of the millpond at the Nemahbin Roller Mill Dam . The dam formerly served a grist mill and later was used to generate electricity, is owned by resident Margaret Zerwekh, who recently petitioned the DNR for permission to abandon the dam. Her neighbors have sought to keep the dam in place to preserve the millpond on which they live. |

Southern portion of Wisconsin has really taken a pounding. That picture Angela posted looks nasty! At first I thought that was a storm that was coming in but
then I read the date. I'm kind of curious to see what it looks like when I drive down to that area on Saturday.

Gnarl24 wrote: If you're driving anywhere but on the interstate, make sure you check to see what roads are closed. The Wisconsin DOT site will give you all the
locations of state hwys and interstate closures. Right now, I think the interstate is all open but there is more rain coming and if you are anywhere on
I-90/94 between Oconomowoc and La Crosse, you might have problems.
That picture that Angela posted is just a few miles west of the area in the article I posted.

I was going to look into that, I'm basically just hitting up the Dells, most of the damage done their was at Lake Delton which is on the opposite side of
the city where I enter. It's something to look into. Basically I'll be on 51 South/ I-39 the entire way down, it's basically right on the outskirts
of the area that you stated I might have some problems. Thanks for the heads up, I'm looking at the site right now.

Gnarl24 wrote: So you'll be more toward central western Wisconsin then. On the sight-seeing front, The Dells should be quite interesting. If I didn't have so
much shit to do this weekend, I would consider taking a drive up there just to see the drained lake!

I saw the drained lake tonight as we went over a bridge in the Dells. Hopefully tomorrow we can actually go see it better.
More rain for tomorrow. |

They should have taught the boyscouts about the NOAA radio. Especially if you are going to be camping in the boonies.

They should have taught the boyscouts about the NOLA radio. Especially if you are going to be camping in the boonies. A bunch of them were out hiking and the tornado suddenly hit. If it was anything like the ones here this weekend, the damn tornadoes touched down before the sirens even started... |
