I'm not sticking up for the foreign plant bitch, but I don't think she was talking about women from prior seasons, just this one. And we all felt the
same. The guys were definitely the popular ones, at least Jason and the two Davids. I'd say Michael Johns, but we saw how that played out.

It depends on what gender of winner Nigel and Co. choose for the given year and this year it was male. That said on Larry King last night Syesha, Brroke and
KLC were bitching more than Carly.

Carly just picked the wrong season to try out for.
Did the guys whine last season when it was obvious a woman was going to win? Some seasons are "girl seasons", some seasons are "guy seasons". Usually it's obvious right from the start. This season was clearly a guy season, so they stacked the top 24 with the strongest group of guys ever. Next season will be a girl season, and we'll likely see the quality of the male contestants they put through to the top 24 drop considerably. Carly should have held off until season 8. |

If different gals had made the Top 12 (Kady, Alaina, and Alexandria), that might have been different case.
That said on Larry King last night Syesha, Brroke and KLC were bitching more than Carly. All 4 of those girls really aren't talented enough to start blaming others for their own lack of star power. |

Chicken of the egg? Do they decide a guy is going to win so they stack the deck with good guys or do they find themselves with a cast of good guys and
therefore decide a guy is going to win?

David and David were popular because they deserved to be. They are both talented singers who did a much better job than ANY of the women on the show. Jason and Brooke were about equally worthy and lasted roughly the same amount of time as one another. I don't see a gender issue there. Carly went home because she was never that likeable to begin with, and then she gave a bunch of terrible performances. No idol contestant - male or female could survive that... |

Yes, Drew we know what you think.
She and the other girls weren't blaming the men for being popular, which I clearly stated WAS the case--everyone knows how crazy popular Jason and the 2 Davids were. They WERE popular and it was impossible for just about any of the girls to overcome that this season. Whether the two Davids and Jason deserved that popularity depends on who you ask. Some think that Carly, Brooke, Syesha and Kristy WERE better than all three of those guys. But Carly and the others just talked about how much mail and gifts the guys were getting and how popular they were, not that they were getting special treatment. |

I saw the other girls bitching on Larry King. They looked just as dumb as Carly did. I don't think the show's audience drastically changed from
previous years. I think it has always had a predominately female audience.
I thought Carly had a great opportunity to become more likeable by taking that fashion question and making a light-hearted joke about herself. But she gave a really boring answer. It was a lame way for her to dodge the obvious subtext in the question. The others, including the hated Archuleta, don't seem to have a problem making fun of themselves. Did anybody else find it odd in the last interview that, when asked if they read the tabloids, Carly went "Yes, I read the newspaper everyday"? |

So tired of this one. She is just not going to appeal to an audience of teenage girls. Who is going to sit up and power dial for two hours for a chubby girl
with big ugly tattoos who looks older than their mother?
Then, to go on the offensive on AI Extra and Larry King and gripe about said audience, who she will expect to buy tickets to the tour and her album (ha), is stupid. No wonder she wasn't able to last in the business the first time through. |

I don't really understand this statement. Is there any reason why she couldn't have been just as popular from the beginning if she is equally charming and talented? She got more screen time and more of a "story" in the audition rounds than ANY of the three guys you mentioned. Hell, in a way, she's been pimped since Season 5 when we were hearing that an Irish girl was the best. Carly had every advantage, but blew it because she is so desperate and abrasive and pathetic (not to mention that she doesn't sing very well). Jason, on the other hand pulled his popularity out of NOWHERE. He got absolutely no face time prior to the semis. His dreads have got to be as big an obstacle as Carly's tattoos (inasmuch as some may love them, but they are offputting to middle-of-the-road America). And yet, Jason managed to garner a STRONG fan base. Good on him! Lord knows I'm not a Jason fan, but he deserves credit for winning people over rather than alienating them as Carly did. She once again refuses to take any of the blame for her own shortcomings... Or do you agree that it was simply because she was a woman that she couldn't be popular? |

I agree that the women weren't as popular as those three guys this season for whatever reason. If Jason had a decent week at F4, he probably would have
outlasted Syesha too. The demographics do seem to be different this season than in years past.
I'm not denying that she wasn't as popular as the guys. What I got from her and the other girls comments were that the guys were incredibly popular this season based on all the gifts, cards, emails, etc. I didn't take it as blame as much as speaking the truth. |

David Hernandez wasn't popular. Chikezie wasn't popular. Michael Johns, evidently, wasn't too popular... She's latching on to ONE trait and
making it all about that because it suits her agenda.
On the other hand, you could say that the mellow, nice people were popular and the uptight, bitchy ones weren't so Carly, as an uppity bitch, was at an unfair disadvantage. I actually think that is slightly more accurate than the gender comparison... |

People have forgotten one year when the gender thing didn't go as expected. Season 4 was supposed to be another "guy" season, with Mario,
Constantine and Bo battling it out at the end...

Those girls weren't unpopular with the audience because they were women. They were unpopular with the audience because they sucked.
And those girls didn't suck because they were women. They sucked because they sucked. |
