^^^ Make sure you watch the full version (not the one released to theatres). They have two of the best songs from the film that were unexplictably cut - his
solo and and an adorable number "Brighter Satr". That a soundtract was never released only underscores the stupidity of RCA/19.
I'm leaving for my dughter's graduation this morning and only downloaded the clips - he sounds terrific, not at all what i was expecting. Love the site change! |

I love J2K...yes I'm a fantard
The soundtrack issue has always baffled me! The movie, if nothing else, had some really fantastic songs in it, Sugar Sugar being one of them. I'll have to go give a listen to Justin's new stuff today! thanks for the info siren. |

I loved it too. I think it is a lot better than High School musical actually. I love Timeless.

I rented J2K one time for 2 bucks because I hadn't seen it. It wasn't that bad, the singing was enjoyable and stuff.
I mean yeah it wasn't an Oscar quality film but neither are most other films. |

The full acoustic songs are up at his MySpace. He surprised the heck out of me with this different side of him. Bluesy, grittily passionate, and personal...
Check 'em out. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=88791811 Also, credits were added for Revclve at his official site: http://www.justinguarini.com/revolveep.html
Recorded at Firehouse Studios, Pasadena California; Mixed and Engineered by: Milton Gutierrez; Guitar: Timothy Kobza; Written and Produced by: Justin Guarini, Shaun Ingram Here's the full pic that was used for the EP cover (see my new avatar). I like it because it fits the artsy nature of the songs.

Yes it was...
And this is coming from someone who loves musicals...and Pauly Shore movies. So there's no way I could not like it, right? Nope, Even I hated that
movie. I went to see it in the theater the weekend it came out...and there was only one other guy in there...and he walked out after 30 minutes.
It *IS* better the High School Musical, though. How that piece of garbage got so popular is beyond me.

That was the quietest revolution ever. And somehow it then morphed into a discussion of a movie whose only real distinction is that it was nominated for 8
Razzies and won 1 Governor's Award. Does Justin include his Razzie nomination on his official bio?

No, but he jokes about it. Because he has a healthy sense of humor, and is smart enough to know it doesn't mean shit. But, thanks for asking. Btw,
the "revolution" is introducing his new production company. Catch up.

Not sure, but I think this is another example of Justin using new media -- this time Blog Talk Radio -- to bring his music, and other independent artists'
music, to his fans, and others who might pop in for a listen.
Last year Justin hosted a couple of TV shows on Mania TV - an internet TV station - and had his own channel. Dave Navarro and Tom Green also had channels, and their own shows there. That experiment didn't take off either, but it doesn't make it any less valuable, or interesting, to those who are interested in new media. The shows on that site were popular while it lasted, but the technology isn't quite there yet to make it competitive with regular TV. And the big networks jumped into the fray, and starting putting all their shows on the net, so an unknown show didn't have a chance. Still it was a fun thing for his fans, and the concept will continue to develop further in the future, no doubt. Eventually, I figure they'll integrate computer and TV altogether, but for now we're still in the baby step stages. Burnlounge was another alternative idea. It was based on the concept of sharing music with friends, and family, and building a network of listeners who share music. Which is a great concept, but again, not a fully developed idea given the state of the technology right now. They had to charge for memberships, and even though it was cheap, the public isn't quite ready to pay for music and other media content in that way (although they're getting there with itunes, that is getting used to paying for music). What someone needs to do is figure out how to use advertisers to pay for the content, and make it SEEM free to users, like TV and radio have done for decades. But they're not there yet, even if the concept of sharing music among a network of listeners is still a basically good idea. I for one think its admirable, and fun for Justin's fans, to interact with him in these innovative enterprises. This radio show is the most fun one yet! While he's talking on the radio show, he and the guest can apparently read what the fans are saying in the chat at the same time, and they comment on it, and make it a part of the show. LOL, that was really fun. You say some off the wall comment, and suddenly you've got Justin responding, haha. Ooops! There are some glitches, the sound cuts out now and then, but I imagine they'll work out the glitches as the show goes along. Its just a GREAT way for an artist to interact with their fans. Maybe he'll have an Idol or two on the show in the future. :) |

It's a bad idea to create a network that is basically a pyramid scheme that gets shut down by the FTC pending litigation. Justin is lucky he was such a failure at signing people up or he might have been named in the indictment like some of the people who made a lot of money at building their network. There are some glitches, the sound cuts out now and then, but I imagine they'll work out the glitches as the show goes along. Its just a GREAT way for an artist to interact with their fans. Maybe he'll have an Idol or two on the show in the future. :) Did Justin have enough listeners to attract other idol participants to appear on his radio show? Will KimberMeeee be his first idol guest? If Justin wants to interact with his fans, can't he just call you on the phone, there aren't really that many of you. Although, my understanding of how the show works, it is kind of like a internet based conference call.

Nice try at pot-stirring, grumpy but Justin left the company a long time ago when CEO Alex Arnold left and their indie
label, 3AM records folded. As far as I know, they only released one CD and that was Coffey Anderson who co-wrote "Missing You" with Justin.
Speaking of MY, the video of his singing it on Idol Wrap is now up to over 140,000 views. It's my favorite version of the song yet.

Who's Grumpy's favorite? I can't go after 'em if I don't know who they are. lol.
I don't know how many listeners Justin had last night. Certainly way more than the 50 people in chat. But that's not the point. I think Justin is just genuinely interested in this new kind of way to get good music out to his fans and other listeners, whoever they may be and however many they are. Put aside all the caterwauling and jealous remarks for a moment, and just think about it. Who wouldn't want their fav Idol, or fav artist, to have a weekly radio show like this, where they talk about the music that moves them, AND then interacts directly with each person at the same time! Its awesome. Why, Grumpy's fav could talk directly with him on the telephone, or in chat. Imagine that. So fun! I love the way Justin keeps a personal connection with his fans. He never EVER fails us, and why we love him so much. I didn't know that about Burnlounge. I only knew that they decided to feature Coffey because he does country music, as their first featured artist, so I didn't care about them anymore. lol. The whole set up was too unwieldy to work well anyway. Even after they did the Beta testing, they still couldn't make it user friendly enough. As for the FTC investigating them, I'd say itunes probably had more to do with that than anyone. Itunes does NOT want competition (but they'll get it anyway eventually. They can't hold off everyone forever. BMG and Yahoo or MSN are putting together something now to try to compete with them, and that's the ONLY way anyone will ever compete with them, that is if they have deep enough pockets)! |
