All of the idols have mixed fanbases.

I disagree with this. I do not think everyone has a mixed fanbase. I think everyone has a few fans from different demographics but I think a lot of fanbases tend to be made of mostly people from 1 or 2 demographics.

The results of the latest USA today poll for example. It may not be scientific but 12 000 people voted and Cook won every demographic except 13-19, surprise, surprise.

Not very: About 45% of the respondents said they have never voted for an Idol, and 73% of those who responded are ages 30 to 59 -- the groups that favor Cook the most.

Archuleta probably does have a scatted bunch of fans in different demographics but I think people are kidding themselves if they think most of his fanbase is made up of anything other than tweens and teens (girls too I might add).
