And, give him credit for being in the Top Four all four times out, even with his seasonal album. He may not be a Carrie or Kelly in sales, but he's still in the Top 4 AI sellers, too.

No, he sold almost 700,000 his first week for his first album, the second album was a Christmas one, which maybe sold 1/2 mil the first week (I really
don't remember), the third sold 211,000 the first week, and this one, which is by far his best album to date, sold 94,000, just 100 fewer than Madonna in
her second week. CD sales are on the fritz these days (as I'm sure you well know, CIB), so yes, it's a disappointment, but the album is not. I still
have hope it will have legs - because it truly deserves it as it's a terrific album.

Actually, I don't think I've done much boasting or bragging - I just think people should go by the facts, and the facts are that CD sales are waaaaay
down, and Clay has come in the Top Four all four times out, and first and second once each. No brag, just facts.

Claymazement wrote: I think Clay's sales are reflective of several things...CDs sales being down is one, he's been out of the music spotlight for over 4 years basically...no hit on radio since 2004 with Invisible, some fans would clearly abandon him due to the scandals of the past as well. I agree with Maze, this is his best CD yet and his sales do not reflect the quality of the music at all. As for placing in the top 4 with all his albums, well with sales being what they currently are it's a lot easier to get into the top 5 IMO.... used to be you couldn't make it into that position with less than 150-200K....now an album can be #1 with 70K depending on when they release it. swim, I don't have anything up my ass, just telling it like it is... Carrie is deemed the most successful in the U.S. but there is an entire market outside this country which should be counted too IMO... and technically speaking Carrie's not even the most successful in the U.S. until she sells another 200K CDs of CR because Kelly's debut sold 2.7 million and Breakaway sold 5.99 million = 8.69 million v. SH 6.4 million + 2.08 milion = 8.49 million..... not being bitchy, just stating the facts. |

Hmmm, not sure I get your point here. By this reasoning it's a lot easier to make it to NO. 1 now, as well, since it used to be you couldn't be there without selling a boatload more CD's than now. Neil got #1 spot last week with sales of 140,000, while Clay only got second place in 2006 with sales of 211,000. So there ya go. Fourth place is fourth place, regardless. Until Daughtry overtakes him, which should be awhile, Clay is still the third most successful alumni from 6 seasons of AI. For that, I'm proud for him. |

Claymazement wrote: my point wasn't to degrade his accomplishment of having all of his albums debut in the top 5, that's pretty impressive indeed...Kelly's had all hers' debut in top 3... didn't keep people from claiming she was a flop 3rd best based on what maze? Daughtry's debut has sold 4 million, Clay's sold 2.8... that makes Daughtry more successful.... it doesn't matter that Clay has other albums that add to his total or that he's done other things that he's equally successful at... it's all about that one albums' totals... get with the program would ya *wink* |

I realize that Daughty has sold more than Clay for his debut, Album, ILGE. I just meant that Clay has sold more than 4 million total, and I even stated that
Daughtry will eventually pass him in total sales. But I think you already knew that. *wink*
If I wanted to be a total beyotch I could state that Clay's first album sold more than Kelly's first album. But I never even thought about it until you threw Daughtry's first album sales at me. Now, can we quit playing "my idol is better than your idol?" Everyone knows that YOUR idol is the best. idol. evah. |

Daughtry will eventually surpass Clay and reach #3 on the charts.I doubt it. Cookie is a far better artist with a far better personality, plus he is a real rock musician. He'll take over where Chris and his blurry band can't go. Cookie's album will sell like Daughtry and Chris's next album will um...not. |

No, and no. Daughtry is on his way to 5 million with ONE album.

Daughtry is on his way to 5 million with ONE album. So is Cookie even though he hasn't recorded it yet. Chris just passed the 4 mil mark. At this rate it will only take him a year and a half to reach 5 mil. If ever. |

True, at 20K albums a week, it'll taken Daughtry 10 months to pass Clay. However, his second album will be released this fall, so he should hit the 5
Million mark (with two albums) sooner.

Expecting Cook to sell 4 million albums is unrealistic. Sales in the music industry have gone down even from the time Daughtry released his album.
2 million would be outstanding, all things considered. |

I don't even have that high of expectations. However, I'm thinking he'll be lucky to go platinum with CD sales as they are now. IF huge sales
should happen, that would rule, but it will all depend on how good an album he puts out.
