I love the All-Star race... (except when Mark gets taken out)! The drivers drive their asses off and will "move" you if they have to. It's nice
to see some good racing for the big bucks! There is usually a good showdown. I also enjoy the pre-race when the drivers come out with their crews! Really shows
how close the guys are in their teams.
And yes Undies, Ears and Shrub wrecking was, and still is a classic! Maybe we'll get a repeat this year? |

Tonite they had the pit crew challenge. The top 8 teams in owner points pass through to round 2. The other 16 teams in the challenge face off and the top 8 of
those match up to the first 8 to do elimination rounds to get the winner. They finally explained who gets to do this tonite on the show. The crews who race in
the all star race all get in the pit crew challenge. Then to round out the field to 24 teams, they fill it out by the top teams in owners points who are not in
the all star race. Vickers' 83 team was one of those 3 teams tonite. And his crew won the challenge. They just beat Hamlin's #11 team in the finals.
I think the individual $10K payouts went to #17, #16, #07, and maybe #9. I am missing one. The gas guy won it the second year in a row, or maybe it was the jack guy. I like to watch this, but tonite, the arena background noise drowned out a lot of the interviews, so it was hard to hear a lot of the stuff in between the rounds. |

I wish I could watch the race live, but alas, I have to work. But I got an early shift for the 600 so I can watch in 2 weeks!
Oh dear, love the man, but not a flattering angle. But he was out doing good (helping build a playground in Charlotte Caleb Hurd, Jeff Gordon's gas man and a former holder on the Virginia Tech football team, combined with catch-can man Jamie Frady to shatter the competition record by filling 18 gallons in 10.031 seconds. Kasey Kahne's jackman, Eric Wilson, set a record by lifting both sides of the car in 5.431 seconds. Other winners included Nick Odell and Brad Donaghy, front-tire changer and carrier for points leader Kyle Busch, and Dave Smith and Jason Binger, rear-tire changer and carrier for Matt Kenseth. And the entry list (minus the fan votes of course) for the race

the festivities have begun!! the all star race is GREAT (and welcome NASCAR newbie). always lots of fun just mainly because the drivers love it and have so
much fun with it.
last nite's pit crew competition was good. I like for those guys to get a little camera time. and it's important to note which drivers show up to support their team -- or even better, which driver is steering his own car. truly surprised to see Jeff in his own car -- but more surprised that he didn't have his daughter in his lap. LOL. methinks the red bull team was drinking a few red bulls between competitions. they had to be getting that sudden burst of energy from somewhere. allstar is always good for settling a few grudge matches. Saturday night should be AWESOME!
