all that is required to get membership to the Opry is a crap ton of appearances... Carrie wanted to be a member and congrats to her, she is... that doesn't prove she's more successful than anyone..

I believe that all of those appearances were by invitation. You can't just say you want to be on and then you are. If all it takes is showing up and kissing ass, the Opry would be over run with countrified AI alumni.

Bullshit. I guarantee she has made quite a few more than that.

I can remember 5 off hand, and I haven't followed her schedule this year, so anything in 2008 you can add on. I'm thinking at least 7.

2 million scanned when you've had 2 #1 hits and another top ten hit from said album IS struggling, esp when compared to her debut albums numbers. You're only as successful as your last album... and face it, Carnival Ride just isn't connecting the way Some Hearts did... sure it's higher than some other albums but Carrie is supposed to be the savior of music isn't she? isn't she supposed to be the one that defies the odds? sells in the face of lagging retail sales of CDs? I don't get it... where are those 6.3 million people who bought SH? Has Carrie lost 3/4 of her fanbase in just under two years? really? even while continuing to be played heavily on radio and featured at awards shows and on magazines? Perhaps people are just sick of Carrie at this point... *shrug*

You bring up a good point. She has lost about 4 million fans in 18 months ?? Thank god her ass is still in fine form, cause we know the music is as formulaic as it can get.

But at least she makes up for it by putting on average live shows.

And as far as Carrie losing millions of fans, once again you show your lack of reality, Carrie hasn't lost any fans, the album is six months old and has already released 3 singles, I'm sure Bo would love to sell even and 1/8th of what Carrie has on this album, but hence no. Bo really needs to do something fresh, the boy is stuck in the seventies, find a bar of soap to wash up and maybe try some conditioner on that mess he calls hair, people might be more interested in him if he didn't look like he might curl your nose hairs when you got near him. JMO and obviously many others.

You hit the nail on the head with CD's being out of date and digital music being the format of choice. You do understand when it comes to the use of technology, Europe and Asia are leading the way?

When it comes to texting and banking via phone, the U.S lags behind. So even if their economy is strong, the temptation for digital music being passed around is in full effect.

You state a lot of younger poeple listen to older music? Perhaps in your neck of the woods but from what I've seen, they've been listening to the new puck metal music. Young to you is perhaps 25?

Times are a changing and hard media is going to go poof. You just sync your ipod or zune or whatever device you choose

I used the CD just long enough to rip it to my HD and it's been in the case ever since.
I don't even watch DVDs in my DVD player 99% of the time. I stream the divx encoded avi to my xbox 360 which is connected to my HDTV. I can also stick a thumb drive of music to then play on my TV.
CDs will be the 8 tracks in just a few years

When Carrie Underwood's looking for some fun on a Friday night, you won't find her drinking in any local bars. She would much rather be bowling a few frames with her buddies.

"Bowling's the perfect way to hang out with friends," says Carrie, who first learned the sport in gym class when she was a freshman at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. "I loved it so much, I bought my own shoes and have been doing it ever since."

She credits the de-stressing benefits of throwing a 10-pound ball at 10 pins with keeping her calm in the midst of a busy tour schedule.

"I'm not very good," Carrie admits (she usually bowls a 100 or 150). "But I recently did a charity event with some other country singers, and I got the highest score. I was so proud of myself."

Funny you would say that about Carrie ilge whats Kelly got going for her? She ain't even got anything worth looking at, must be a drag to be a Kelly fan, she's going nowhere and nobody even wants to look at her. Carrie Underwood just joined the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville last weekend, and now she's preparing for what might be a big night this coming weekend in Las Vegas, where she's up for Top Female Vocalist at the 43rd annual Academy of Country Music Awards.

It's been three years since she won "American Idol," but even though she got exposure in front of millions of people every week in that setting, she still sees her life as a bit unreal.

"Being nominated for things like the Grammys and Female Vocalist of the Year at the ACM Awards, that's just stuff you see on TV," she told CBS' Watch! magazine. "It's not stuff you actually get a shot at in your life."

With that attitude, you can imagine that an event like the ACMs, which is crawling with stars, would be a great experience for Carrie, since she could meet lots of the artists she looked up to as she was growing up. As it turns out, that's not something she particularly enjoys.

"I put people up on a pedestal, and I'm afraid that if I meet them, then...I don't want to say they'll be a disappointment," she said, "but maybe they won't be quite who I thought they were."

Carrie's now being put up on the same pedestal she reserves for other artists. People magazine has her listed currently among "The 100 Most Beautiful People in the World."

I don't see anything wrong with that statement. Sometimes you don't want to met your heroes because you are afraid that they won't be what they seem...you read too much into things ILGE. It's like you want something to be bad against Carrie so you make it up....
Carrie isn't a bitch to her fans at all. There's is a really touching story about a girl that forgot her tickets for the show she went to and Carrie ended up giving her tickets. But I won't get into it because y'all will just dissect it anyways...

That is correct. I once had a backstage pass to a Van halen concert in high school and got to meet my hero at the time Eddie Van Halen. Then I realized he was a piece of shit human being. Change the station whenever their songs come on now.
