Then there's the 60s series that pre-emptively KILLED their Movies by having a frigging Horrible, Maximum Suckitude, Made-for-TV Suckfest REUNION MOVIE in the 70s or 80s: 1) Rescue from Gilligan's Island. 2) Return to Green Acres 3) I Dreamt "Larry Hagman actually hadn't had a career after this show so that doing this crapfest TV movie wouldn't be like him being reduced to doing PORN" by Jeannie. 4) The Naked Gun (OOPS! That DIDN'T stop them. C'mon, Steve Carell. You've got to out-Don Adams, Don Adams! Good freaking LUCK!) |

I really enjoyed "Speed Racer". Visually, it was stunning. The plot was pure melodrama (what else would you expect?), but it was paced very well, and
had a plausible story with enough twists to keep you interested. I was worried that Spreidel and Chim-Chim would be annoying, but they were used in just the
right amount as comic relief (there's a hilarious sight gag when they're in their pajamas) and were quite funny. Emile Hirsch was great and John
Goodman (surprisingly) really nailed the Pops character.
I am not a Speed Racer or manga fan, but I recommend it (the commercials do not do justice to the movie). |

No, it's a completely different movie than "Iron Man" -- that doesn't mean it's bad.
My point was that the commercials/trailers do not accurately portray the movie. Based on the commercials, I thought the movie would be awful. Based on actually seeing the movie, I thought the movie was quite good. |

THe marketing for this film was terrible, but the film was quite enjoyable. I saw it at IMAX. Had a monster migraine the next day, but loved the visuals.

It reminded me of a Days of Thunder, Dick Tracy & the Hulk. I hated Days of Thunder, Dick Tracy and the Hulk. Speed Racer may be the most boring lead character ever. The soundtrack might be worth getting though. Fergie gets Speedilicious. |
