Please spend a few minutes to leave some comments and/or predictions for the rest of the story. If you don't want to fill out this "survey," then please feel free to leave any comments you like (even if it's just one or two lines), or just let me know that you read the episode. Anything will help and will be greatly appreciated! COMMENTS & QUESTIONS (A) What did you think of this episode? Please be as detailed as you can, wherever possible. - Well I've been a long-time reader but I've never given you any feedback before, so I thought I'd take the time and do that for you :) I thought this was a pretty strong first episode, and I think you wrote it very well as always. There were some highlights and some things that make one's perception and personal feelings of a character shift up or down, and I believe you exercised that well. For example, the Tracy/Mikey B conflict, you wrote that so well where readers could take either side, whereas in some fanfics and stories some conflicts seem so one-sided and biased towards one person, and I admire your ability to keep the editing at a neutral stance. (B) What was your overall favorite part of the episode? - It would have to be Dave's offer at Tribal Council. It seems like something Dave would do considering his game from China. (C) What would you rate this episode out of 10? (1 being the lowest; 10 being the highest) - I'd rate this an 8.8 simply because it was very well written like I stated before, but there is always room for improvement. (D) Do you have any questions about this episode that you'd like to see cleared up in a future episode or at the Reunion Show? - Not at this time. More might arise as the episodes keep coming. 1. SOLE SURVIVOR POLL (A) Which castaway will be the Sole Survivor? I can't put a finger on it (especially with the amount of castaways starting out anyways). Let's say if it's an Airai Winner, it'll be Jason. I'm basing this off the editing, not my own wishes. (I'd love Tracy as a winner. :P) For Malakal, I'd say Aras simply because of his gameplan right now. I can't develop strong reasons because I'd have to get more in-depth into the story arcs of each player, which is something that must wait until more episodes come out and their stories are built upon. 2. WHAT'S NEXT POLL (A) Which castaway(s) will be voted off in Episode 2? - I have a feeling Airai will lose the challenge, and probably either Tracy or Mikey B since their conflict seemed to be dominating Airai's storyline. I'd put my money on Mikey B because it seemed to make Tracy the "obvious" choice with her tribe's disappointment on her, but I expect something else will happen. (B) Which two castaways will be sent to Exile Island? (One from each tribe) - Randomly guessing that Malakal wins the Reward Challenge, I'd say that Alexis and Brooke are sent. (C) Do you have any other predictions for Episode 2? - The conflict on Airai between Tracy/Mikey B will be played out further, perhaps eliminating one of them from the game. I don't see much story going on in Malakal, and if there is, it'll be about Sherea getting paranoid about that second vote, with Terry/Aras targeting Eliza. 3. POPULARITY POLL (A) Please rate each castaway's popularity from 1-10. 1 is the lowest score, while 10 is the highest. Please try to base your ratings only on the likeability of the characters in my story, not how they appeared on the real show. Who knows?

Thank you very much for your comments on the episode, and for being so thorough with everything. I'm glad you enjoyed the episode, and it's nice to see that you've been a long-time reader. Glad to have you on board! :) - Well I've been a long-time reader but I've never given you any feedback before, so I thought I'd take the time and do that for you :) I thought this was a pretty strong first episode, and I think you wrote it very well as always. There were some highlights and some things that make one's perception and personal feelings of a character shift up or down, and I believe you exercised that well. They are definitely nice to read, and I'm glad you enjoy my fanfics. :) Some conflicts in future episodes will probably be a little bit more one-sided where you'll have some idea of who you're supposed to side with, but now that I think about it, I think a lot of mine have been left open like that. Even with Dave and Sherea last season, it seemed like people could have taken either side. That was a really good point to bring up. I think it comes down to the fact that I don't like to have outrageous fights happen for no reason. There's always a reason behind it, and usually both (or all) people involved have a reason for the conflict. - It would have to be Dave's offer at Tribal Council. It seems like something Dave would do considering his game from China. Glad to hear this as well. Upon hearing all of the comments about it, I'm glad I left it in the episode. :) - I'd rate this an 8.8 simply because it was very well written like I stated before, but there is always room for improvement. The rest of the episodes will stay at this quality in terms of how it's written and everything, but the story will pick up a lot by Episode 3. Well, I guess it is good that there's not someone who hugely stands out as an obvious winner yet. I agree that it's hard to base just off of one episode (usually by 3 or 4, you can get a pretty good idea of who the main contenders are). Based on this episode, Jason and Aras seem like very good choices, but the next few episodes will be very telling, I think. Thanks for your predictions for Episode 2. I can't comment on it specifically, but I'll just say that you will have to keep it in the back of your mind as you read some of the coming up episodes. However, I feel that Jason is the winner, and I hate him, so I'm really sad to realize that he was the only castaway to have a winner edit in the first episode... And I feel that Ruth Marie was an UTR1, not INV1, she was in a couple of important scenes...

It gives me time to write, readers time to read and comment, and it's a long enough interval to build some anticipation for the next episode while not being too long of a wait. Sometimes it feels like it though! Great episode!!! That's the first time I read a fanfic and I really liked it. However, I feel that Jason is the winner, and I hate him, so I'm really sad to realize that he was the only castaway to have a winner edit in the first episode... And I feel that Ruth Marie was an UTR1, not INV1, she was in a couple of important scenes... Hi Brazil Luvs Ami. Excellent to have another new reader this season! Thanks for reading the premiere and sharing those thoughts. I agree that Jason's edit looks pretty good based on Episode 1, but A LOT can change in an episode or two, so you never know what could happen. I kindof agree with what you're saying about Ruth Marie, and I think that's where you would maybe get a different impression if this was a TV episode rather than a written story. Probably in an actual episode, she would have gotten UTR1 for being present in the scene with the Dave/Sherea fight and in another scene that I can't remember (when she said to Sherea that the 3 guys were an alliance). You must have been paying very close attention to pick up on that. Thanks for being so thorough! I presume that you might be rooting for Ami based on your username, so I hope that she sticks around for a while for you. Thanks again for reading. The camera shows a clip of Brooke riding in the cart during the first Immunity Challenge. The camera now shows her smiling widely in a large close-up photo with flames surrounding it. Ruth Marie is now shown walking in front of her tribe's shelter, before the camera shows a faraway photo of her with smoke billowing around it. Sherea is shown in a clip from the first Immunity Challenge, and then in a medium-sized color-enhanced photo. The last castaway to be shown is Aras. A crab can be seen scuttling along the beach, before the camera switches angles to show the nine remaining castaways returning back to their camp, as indistinct conversation is heard> Ruth Marie - CONFESSIONAL: Tonight, Malakal went to the first Tribal Council and voted out Dave, <A delighted Sherea is shown, as she cheers excitedly> so there was a general feeling of excitement among the tribe when we returned. <A wide view of several Favorites sitting down around the shelter is shown> We felt like this huge pressure had been lifted off of us, and most of all, Sherea, she's happier with Dave gone. <Sherea is shown grinning widely> Sherea: <excitedly> Yay! I don't have to look at Dave anymore! <laughs> <The infrared camera now shows a close-up view of Ian> Ian: He was the lovechild of Johnny Fairplay and Tom from Palau. <Eliza is heard saying "Oh my God; it's so true"> I mean, how do you not vote him out first? <laughs> <Sherea is then shown again, as the infrared camera zooms in on her> Sherea - CONFESSIONAL: It was great for me to know that Dave's finally out of the game, you know, and he can't cause anymore problems for me. <Ruth Marie can be seen sitting down beside Sherea> It was definitely the ultimate revenge seein' him go home first, so bye bye! <laughs> <Sherea waves> You know, I don't have to think about Dave no more… <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the camera cuts ahead to show a clip of a curious Ami> Ami: You guys, who was that one vote? There were two for Sherea… <Sherea can be seen turning her head, before the infrared camera shows Aras> Aras - CONFESSIONAL: Tribal Council comes, and we had already had a group talk about the vote beforehand, <The camera scrolls across several Favorites> so the tribe absolutely expected a 9-1 vote against Dave. <The infrared camera shows a close-up view of Terry> Terry: The deal was that everyone was gonna vote out Dave… <Ian is then shown next> Ian: <to Terry> But now there's a second vote that no one's claiming, so… <Eliza can be heard saying something inaudible, as the camera cuts back to Ami> Ami: So who? Who voted [inaudible]? <The infrared camera shows both Sherea and Aras> Aras - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> Interestingly, there was one mystery vote for Sherea and <pause> I know the vote came from Terry. <A wide view of several Malakal members is now shown> The plan was to make everybody else think that it was Eliza's vote, <The infrared camera switches angles to show a clip of Eliza> because if Eliza somehow goes next, that would buy myself and Terry a couple more days. <A prominent drumbeat is heard, as the infrared camera goes back to Terry again> Terry: …cause what that does is, we can't say "We're unified" now <Ami can be seen nodding her head> because now we have to be suspicious that somebody is saying one thing and then turning around and doing the total opposite. <Sherea is then shown standing up> Sherea: At least you know it wasn't me 'cause I voted for Dave… <Another close-up view of Ami is shown, as Ian jokingly says "No! You voted for yourself!"> Ami: Eliza, was it you? <An eerie shift in the music occurs, as the camera turns to Eliza> Eliza: <to Ami> No, it wasn't me! <A prominent sound is heard, as Aras is shown subtly smiling and then looking away> Why would you even ask that? <The camera returns to Eliza again> Eliza - CONFESSIONAL: Well, right now, there's a mysterious vote that nobody's claiming and I feel like whoever it was is choosing to pin it on me because I was the most vocal about keeping Dave. <The infrared camera continues to focus in on Eliza> Eliza: With God as my witness, I voted for Dave; <The camera scrolls across several Malakal members, as Eliza pauses> I wanna know how my name even got brought up. <Ami is shown> Ami: Well, Eliza, you were campaigning hard today. <The camera cuts back to Eliza> Eliza: <to Ami> I know, but I gave my word just like everyone else, so <long pause> I don't know… <A defensive Eliza is shown staring into the distance> Eliza - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> Um, it pisses me off that my name keeps coming up as the one who cast the vote because I don't want anyone to think, <The camera shows a close-up view of Ami> you know, "Eliza's a liar. You know, we just stare at them all day and we're not, you know, we can't cook them just by staring at them, <Earl is shown watching Ian cut the meat out of the clam, as he says something inaudible> but <pause> with this win, you know, we finally got our flint, so hopefully we'll get fire and it'll bring us closer together. <There is a prominent sound, as the camera cuts ahead to show the Malakal members gathered around their fire pit> Aras: Think about this catching… <Ian is now shown, as he strikes the flint with the machete> Ruth Marie: <to Ian> Oh, you're getting sparks already! <The camera continues to focus on Ian, as he strikes the flint again and a fire ignites. Sherea is now shown clapping excitedly, as another female castaway can be heard saying "Oh, fire!"> Terry: Finally a fire. <Terry can be seen adding more kindling to the flame> That's a nice freakin' flame! <laughs> <The camera now scrolls over to a smiling Earl> Earl - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> That's all we need is a solid group. <A mysterious music now begins to play, as the camera shows a fast-forwarded view of the sky, and then fades out to show a clip of a rat picking at a rotten coconut. Brooke can then be seen sitting watchfully by the fire, as a group of castaways talk further down the beach> Brooke - CONFESSIONAL: With Dave gone, we should definitely be much more of a solid unit, <Aras, Ian, Terry, and Ami are now shown> but somebody went against the consensus of the tribe at Tribal Council and successfully deflected suspicion onto Eliza. <The camera switches angles to show Brooke again, as she pours boiled water into a canteen> We know that there were at least two votes to vote out Sherea, <A clip of Sherea standing in front of the shelter is shown> so <pause> somebody in the tribe is definitely lying about their vote, and I really can't wait to crack this case. <laughs> <There is a prominent drumbeat, as the camera cuts ahead to show a clip of Brooke, Ami, and Aras walking along the beach together> Aras: Who do you guys think was the other vote? <The camera now focuses in on Brooke> Brooke: <to Aras> I'm kinda neutral on the whole thing. <Ami can be heard saying "Yeah," as the camera zooms out to show all three Malakal members again> Aras: It's just a tough situation because I know that it looks like someone's trying to throw Eliza under the bus, <A guarded Ami is shown listening intently> and I mean, I can't lie to save my life, so what I'm telling you is the truth: <short pause> Terry hasn't told me that the vote was from him, <The camera fades out to show Terry standing in the shallow ocean waters> and we are completely honest with one another so I know for a fact it wasn't Terry. <Ami is now shown with a thoughtful look on her face> Ami: <to Aras> Was it you? <A prominent sound is heard, as Aras shakes his head> Aras: I swear to you. I mean, I'll look you in the eyes; <Ami can be seen turning to look at Aras> it wasn't me or Terry. <Brooke then tenses her expression> This is my opinion, and I admit I could be wrong; <short pause> like, I'm not trying to pin it on someone at all, but I feel like the vote was from Eliza, to be perfectly honest… <Both Ami and Brooke are shown next> Ami: <to Aras> I don't think it was Eliza… <Brooke is now heard saying "Neither do I"> Ami - CONFESSIONAL: Aras and Terry both seem to have quite the story about how Eliza was the mystery vote for Sherea, <The camera shows another view of Aras> and <short pause> they might be telling the truth, but they're laying it on a little thick. <A wide view of Ami, Brooke, and Aras talking on the beach is now shown again> Aras: Here's the thing: <short pause> she was working it the other day. <Ami nods her head in agreement> She did not want Dave to go… <The camera zooms back in on Brooke> Ami - CONFESSIONAL: <continued> Everything Aras said, I was like "Alright, that's interesting." <Aras can be heard saying "Think about that," as he walks away> I mean, I don't trust Eliza in this game right now, but I don't trust Aras and Terry more, so <long pause> I haven't figured out which one of them's gonna go first yet, <A quick clip of Terry is now shown> but <long pause> maybe if Aras keeps catching fish we'll let him stick around. <There is a prominent drumbeat, as a spooky shift in the music occurs, and the camera shows a clip of a spider striking into its prey and then rapidly spinning it into a ball of silk. Airai Tribe ("Fans") - Night 3 <The infrared camera shows a fast-forwarded view of the Airai tribe's flag, as clouds can be seen rapidly shifting behind it. A clip of several castaways gathered around the fire pit is shown, as Alexis strikes the flint with the machete and a few sparks are generated. The camera now zooms in on her> Alexis - CONFESSIONAL: It's the third night since we've been out here. Posts: 3183 (05/08/08 6:51 AM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	EPISODE 2 NOTES: Here are a few important notes about Episode 2 and the rest of this story. Please be sure to read them so that you have a better understanding of what is going on. 1) Well, there is Episode 2. Like last week, I'm not going to update any of the images right away since I don't want to spoil the outcome, but I must give a big congratulations because so many of you were able to predict that Chet was the person who asked to be voted out. (I hope it didn't make the episode too predictable again). About two months ago, I said there were already a few similarities between my story and the real show, and Chet asking to be voted out was one of them. There's still some others (like always), but nothing too major. 2) Again, please be sure to read the secret scene at the end of the episode. This one was definitely not essential to the episode like last week's, but it was originally included in the episode itself until I cut it out because the episode was too long, so some stuff went into Episode 3 and this scene became the special feature. 3) The rest of the notes will go through the episode in order, like I did last week: 4) So the episode begins with a scene about the mystery vote, which was the major topic in this episode. I wanted to give confessionals to some people like Ruth Marie and Sherea since I knew that the episode would pretty much be centered only on a few Favorites, and I didn't want a lot of them to be completely ignored. Anyway, this scene was mostly about Eliza being labeled as the one who cast the second vote, and then her feeling isolated from the tribe. As you saw, it was important in leading up to what happened on Exile Island when she told Jason everything that was going on. 5) I really like the first Airai scene because it has so much going on again. It begins with Jason reiterating that Tracy is no longer the leader and he explains that he stepped up to fill the position. He thinks he'll still be in a good place in the tribe, but little does he know, he actually gets targeted later in the episode. Moving on, the part about Mary doing the roof of the shelter was supposed to be in the premiere and I had to move it into this episode. The purpose of this scene was to again show the incompetence of the Fans with their inability to start fire, and it was also to show the beginning of Chet's downward spiral with not drinking water. The Secret Scene is sortof the precursor to this one since it is the beginning of Chet wanting to leave, as well as the rain storm, which fills their boat with water for them to drink, etc. 6) The next scene was pretty much focused around the mystery vote again. This time, Terry gets a confessional about the plan and Eliza gets confessionals about thinking it was Terry, and about trusting Brooke. There's definitely significance to all of these scenes, but it might not always be very apparent right away/in this episode. 7) The Reward Challenge was an idea that I had for a long time and I never got around to using it. The initial idea was that they had to retrieve hanging flags, but I decided it would be better to make them retrieve keys and then incorporate some aspects of other challenges by adding the puzzle component. It was also good in that the Favorites had Ian, so it offered Mikey another chance to complain about the game being unfair. I also wanted to do something different than the typical puzzle or word scramble, so I thought it would be good to have them figure out the letters from island symbols. The way I envision it, the symbols are things like: coconut, sun, raindrop, crab, fish, clam, palm trees (with 3, 4, and 5 leaves), coral, shell, fire, etc. I also liked the idea of the clue. Overall, I think that the Favorites were definitely going to win this challenge. I think it would be better to see it on TV, but I still hope it was enjoyable to read. 8) The next Airai scene is very short and simple. It gives a reaction to Dave being voted out, and I think Kathy's confessional was a good choice to explain that reaction, and then it sets up Erik's jealousy of Jason for getting to spend time on Exile Island with Eliza. I said before the season started that the Erik-Eliza "pairing" would play a role in the season, and Erik's jealously is the beginning of that. Some of you predicted that Erik and Eliza would go to Exile Island together in this episode, which was definitely a good idea, but it wasn't quite right. Still, the story between them continues… 9) Onto Exile Island: I really like my idea of choosing the two people that go, which is that the first person who is sent gets to actually choose someone to join them from the other tribe instead of the winning tribe picking both people. It gives that initial person some power and satisfaction, as Jason said. And the reason Jason picked Eliza is because there was obviously some kind of issue going on with Malakal and he knew that Eliza wouldn't hesitate to speak about it. The main thing that happened at Exile Island was the fact that Eliza divulged a lot of information to Jason, whereas Jason foolishly made up a lot of information to trick her. The scene was already long enough, so there wasn't any time for me to show them looking for the hidden Immunity Idol, but if you could see the actual scene on TV, you'd see that they're actually looking for the idol as they talk. I considered having another secret scene that showed them specifically searching for the idol, but I didn't think it was necessary in the end. 10) The next Malakal scene begins with Earl talking about the Reward, Ian and Aras providing food, and then not being able to cook food with fire. I thought that it provided a good introduction to the tribe making fire, and then Earl's comment about needing a solid tribe was a good transition into Brooke and Ami investigating the issue that was still causing divisions. As you can see, Aras and Terry both blatantly lied about it, and Brooke and Ami pretty much knew that. On another note, I'm a little surprised that Aras has only had two confessionals so far, but he's actually been shown quite a bit, I think. Anyway, I felt like there may have actually been a little bit of negativity with Ami and Brooke as well for laughing about Terry's "speech" (possibly cocky), but since Aras and Terry are clearly the villains, it may not have come across this way. I really liked Ami's confessional though about not knowing which one to vote off yet. It shows that she has some degree of control, and that she's still trying to keep all of the women. If you read the Episode 3 Preview, you'll see that she starts to put together the women's alliance in the next episode. Some of you predicted it for this week, and I couldn't comment on it yet, but you were just getting a little bit ahead! :) 11) The Immunity Challenge is one that combines aspects from several different challenges. I always wanted to have a challenge that involved the barrels similar to the one in Cook Islands, but I also like the idea of the puzzle flag pole and having to scale the wall like the first Immunity Challenge in China. So I used some of those different aspects to create this challenge, and I wanted it to be another close finish again. 12) So the Fans lose the Immunity Challenge, and as expected, Chet asks to be voted out of the game. I'm glad that I was able to give Natalie and Mary a confessional here. Mary's was more generic (I feel bad for her, because she was supposed to have more face time but I had to cut out most of it or move it to the secret scene), but I think Natalie's worked really well for her personality in saying that Chet was pathetic. I'm not sure how Chet will come off in the editing though. I could see him being Mixed or Positive, but I do think he was somewhat sympathetic. 13) Now there's a transition from Chet wanting to be voted out to Jason telling the tribe all about his (unnecessary) lies to Eliza, and he was obviously meant to look very stupid in the editing (sound familiar?). This, along with Erik's growing jealousy of Jason, was what ultimately led some people on the tribe to come together to target Jason, so even though he was immune, a group of people started to align against him. Joel was particularly upset about being called the leader since, if you think back to Episode 1, he had a confessional saying that he didn't want to be the leader. 14) The alliances on Airai ended up being quite similar to how the tribe initially divided itself on the real show. I'll explain a little bit about the dynamics of Airai now: CHET = didn't really have any actual alliances, but like the real show, he tended towards Tracy and Kathy a little bit more since they were the three oldest members; in my mind, he was also close with Mary too, even though that probably didn't come across JASON = the tribe leader, yet fairly out of the loop due to being on Exile Island, and he's being targeted to be voted out for the next time that Airai loses I see the rest of the tribe as four very loose pairs right now. It is not exactly like this, but within the next episode or two, you'll see why/I will explain why I chose to lay it out like this. TRACY-KATHY = at this point, they don't really have an official "alliance," but they're sortof close since they're the two oldest women JOEL-ERIK = as you saw, Joel and Erik were the first two to discuss booting Jason, and they're fairly close right ALEXIS-NATALIE = we haven't really seen much of them yet, but like the real show, I'd group them together at this point. MIKEY-MARY = again, similar to the real show; they're also not a true alliance, but just a pair that I group together at this point and you'll get a better idea of why soon So there really aren't any true long-term alliances on this tribe yet. We saw that Joel and Erik pulled in Mikey and Mary to oust Jason at Airai's next Tribal Council, but that is definitely not a solid alliance right now. Alliances will constantly be shifting around in the episodes to come. 15) I really don't have much to say about Tribal Council. I think it was pretty straight-forward, and the main thing was Chet feeling like he wasn't quitting but doing something to help his tribe instead. And, of course, Jason was totally clueless again when he said that he didn't feel he needed Immunity… What will happen with Jason in the next episode?? I feel like the Tribal Council may have been too predictable again, which could be a bad thing, but there was no one else other than Jason who was legitimately at risk right now, so I couldn't even come up with a believable decoy boot. 16) In the secret scene, we see the Fans talking about how the Favorites thought they couldn't be beaten, and then Mary describes the conditions of their island with all of the rain, etc. There is another storm, and we get to hear about Chet being miserable, which would have been the first indication of him wanting out of the game if I kept it in the actual episode. It's a simple little scene, so I don't have much else to say about it, but I wish that some more of Mary could have been in the actual episode. 17) Unlike the Malakal Tribal Council, the vote against Chet was unanimous. I decided not to show Chet's vote since it was inconsequential, but it was either going to be between Mikey and Joel. The reason I went with Joel was because (I got rid of this, but) Joel made a comment about the tribe having to discuss amongst themselves whether or not they would grant Chet his wish, and then he also said that he wouldn't want Chet on his team at Tribal Council. The other reason was that he viewed Joel as one of the biggest physical threats. Also notice that Chet gave Mary his shoes at the end of the episode, which was supposed to show that he was close with Mary. 18) So despite being probably the biggest target in the first three days, Tracy ended up not really being scoped out as a possible boot in this episode. I initially gave her a confessional about laying low and working hard, but I had to get rid of it because the Airai stuff was TOO long. That's where her head is right now as far as the game though: at least until she can get in a comfortable position. 19) Some of the other people like Alexis, Ruth Marie, Natalie, and Mary will be getting more face time soon. And Eliza will slow down a little bit, but there's still a lot of Jason in the next episode. As I always say, everyone will have some kind of story, but some characters will definitely be more developed than others. Everyone should have some kind of story by Episode 4. 20) That's it for Episode 2. I hope you all enjoyed it. Episode 3 should be another interesting one, and the story really starts to pick up from here. You'll have to be prepared for some more complex strategy in the next episode, and I must also say that there's some BIG parallels to things that actually happened on the real show. But I think a lot of you will like it a lot so it should be okay. Episode 3 is definitely better than the first two. I'm not sure why it always ends up that way… Well, I know that those notes are far more extensive than usual, but I had a lot to say about the episode again. The notes will probably remain like this throughout the season. I really hope that you all enjoyed the episode, and I would like to offer my sincere thanks to you for reading it. I'm amazed to still have so many people reading into the seventh season.
