Would you say they are the "hares of the sea"? Sea turtles contrary to popular conceptions are extremely fast. BUT, I doubt most people know that, and I doubt even MB knows that.. So popular misconception is that the animal is slow.

If we were to re-rate early episodes, I bet Parv would get her P for ep.1 and CP for ep.3. And if the last episode was rated out of context back then, Parv would be MOR3. Premerge, Parv had quiet episodes for one main reason - she went to TC only twice, and there were those two double-quit episodes. Parvati was NOT CP in Episode Three whatsoever. She didn't get any confessionals, just strategy talk. Her ratings have been accurate this season, except some of the Ns at the merger.

Her edit has been exactly as she described her plan for this season in her intro confessional. She was going to enjoy messing around with the dudes, but her main goal was to play harder and smarter and above all, she told us her goal was to win. Her tone has been overwhelmingly game-face neutral.

Parvati has been given juuust that little tinge of tone, the nagging, make you notice her a little but not overwhelm you type of tone. It does not have to be P (craig), or N. It just needs to be there. And it has been. Overall she sits in the middle, as she should. There are great reasons why - she was close to so many players and alliances, some of which had to be the heroes, villains and buffoons, that she has to sit in the middle of all that to stand out. Which she did. As a fan, don't like her, but I can respect her game. As an edgician it tells me that as a winner, that was the intention. We'll see. But really, at this point, she intrigues me more than anyone left in the game and I'm actually quite enjoying watching the game she's playing. I think it was her stone-cold poker face at the Ozzy boot TC that really did me in. Awesome.

They made an issues of Jason mispronouncing her name and her getting a fat lip in the challenge. More serious injuries of Ami (knee) and Alexis (finger ep.7) were ignored. There was a scene about the Couples alliance before the swap. Eliza\Parv were MVP in the RC. Nobody should be INV based purely on sentence count - SPV and challenges prominence should be considered.

The rest of her edit pales in comparison to Parvati's - I mean, c'mon, UTR - UTR - UTR - INV. Seriously? Amanda isn't winning. It's a weaker repeat of her China edit, where she gasp lost.

Sure enough, Alexis\Nat vote her boyfriend and threaten Amanda herslf. Amanda is all about the Couples alliance and keeping her clique together. She uses the idol to destroy the fans' chance to take over the game. Parvati, on the other hand, is multi-alliance girl. She's Eliza's go-to girl in ep.4. Parv promises Natalie F4 and does the cauldron dance with Alexis. Meanwhile her relationship with Ozzy was downplayed early, and her making out in ep.2 was downplayed relative to Amanda. Parv is all about gameplay and girlpower. Amanda disses the fans collectively in ep.6, but Parv befriends the fangirls. Looks like Parv may lose the Ozzy\James votes at final TC, but win on the basis of Fan or Girlpower votes. If that's the storyline, whatever anti-Couple editing there was (ep.2) could ironically be seen as favouring Parvati if she's battling Ozzmanda at Final TC. And Amanda's emergence in Ep 12 as a brilliant player of the HII? Won't the jury bear in mind the most recent and entertaining event? I suppose it may depend on who is involved in the next "coup." If it is again Amanda, then whatever Parvati did in the first 11 episodes will be swept aside. Trust me - I want Parvati to win. I'm just concerned that (a) Edgic has been wrong before in this kind of season and (b) the sea turtle theme picks up something the first boot (JFP) said, namely, Slow and steady wins the race. Why include that tidbit if it isn't going to be brought back later? The sea turtle image DOES bring it back, and it feels like a major arrow pointing at the winner. Amanda. not happy about it, but there it is.

Posts: 2593 (05/06/08 5:59 PM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Observations (In new order) 1) The winner may have ups and downs, but is typically not too UTR/INV or too OTT. 2) The winner will typically have a fair amount of meaningful editing and typically won't be ignored in long stretches. 3) Typically the winner is not overly Positive or Negative. 4) The winner is very unlikely to receive an INV rating during the course of the season, and will likely receive at least a 2 visibility in Episode 1. 5) Over the course of the game the winner's presence and visibility should end up closer to the average of all the players. (The winner typically gravitates to near the top in MOR differential, which calculates the closeness to average in presence, tone and ratings). 6) Typically the winner is surrounded by players who keep our focus to distract us from the winner. These players are often OTT and much of the complexity and strategy centers in this core group. This core group can be a combination of members of more than one complex group, rather than all being from one, original tribe. .....old 5) The tribe (or the core group that will surround a surprise winner) that has the most complex dynamics and strategy usually contains the winner. .....old 6) Typically the winner is surrounded by the player/s receiving the distracting edit. 7) The winner will have substantial comments/insight from many of the jury members that may resurface in front of the jury or mislead the audience on voting. 8) The ending is typically set up to be a somewhat of a 'surprise'. You either don't expect the winner or second place to be there. These two are often manipulated in the editing to make each look like they have a chance to win. 9) If two people are a 'known final pair' then the likelihood of them actually being the final two is slim. It would need to be a situation that cannot be avoided (i.e. Amber/Rob) Episode 5 is NOT important.

A new benchmark in Edgic charting. =) (Though a whole chart of flashing boxes might trigger an epileptic seizure. Lol.) Parvati's brush with INV is worth looking at again. It's pretty borderline by my memory, but I'll have to review. It's something we should be clear about. It would affect the guidelines in that we couldn't simply dismiss a player as easily as we've been able to up to now. But Ep1 and more specifically, the first segment of Ep1 is the real point of separation for Amanda and Parvati. If and when Parvati wins, it will give our Ep1 analysis greater validity. It will be a season when the winner goes MOR/UTR after the first ep until the merge. Since Cook Islands, we've had a string of high vis CP winners. Parvati hasn't had such CP reinforcement. It is that first confessional alone that made her a pre-merge contender.
