Well I got my wish of someone singing something not from Cats, Evita, JCS, Joseph, Phantom, and Sunset.

There are better songs she could have sung from Starlight Express.

Syesha Mercado.
One Rock and Roll Too Many. Vidclip showed some injected sass. The first line hits an interesting rhythm, but it quickly falls into place and into her comfort zone. She'll be okay with this if she doesn't over sing, which I heard on a note or two right at the start; but the first verse is definitely sung under control. The range might not be the best for her, because the lower notes of the song are pitchy. The mid and upper range is hittin', though, as she sashays over to the band for a one-arm hug. Key change a step up, still a little pitchy. It was almost sassy enough, although I thought this could be a home run. Guess not. More like Melinda-lite or LaKisha-lite. A 6. Randy: So, this may surprise you but I feel tonight, not only is this your element, you could be a huge Broadway star. Your best performance to date. Paula: I don't think it's surprising. This is your happy place. Randy: It's like, wow. Really good. Paula: You brought the house down right at the very beginning. Simon: That was very sexy. Whole kind of Michelle Pfieffer lying on the piano. Agree with Randy, one of your strongest performances thus far. Masses of personality which we haven't seen before. You are definitely more comfortable in this area. |

It was a very Latoya performance, meaning she'll probably go home.

Starlight Express
I thought the song was repetitive and exposed her weak vocals, but the performance was fun, if a bit stilted. At least she will be a nice change from all the dreary ballads to come. |

I like Only You from Starlight Express better.....
Meatball's right, she should've worn roller skates! And I hope Castro comes out as a cat!!! Wait, that means that Archtard has to come dressed as Christine from Phantom |
