"Hi, thanks for being the biggest loser! TWICE!" IF Deb went again and then got voted out first I predict a suicide. Actually that could happen to any of them. In my humble opinion.

How on earth could you possibly vote out someone first a second time in a row? It becomes very complicated. Because it would be a very big stigma to face, and it would be very painful to have to go through that whole thing again. I even had one Survivor alum actually ask me to "be sensitive" when I wrote the first episode. It was a fairly significant issue.

I'm just saying that the FIRST boot is a fairly significant detail, and I didn't even realize that until I started writing it. Even though it might not seem like it, there's a whole lot of stigma difference between boot #1 and boot #2. A lot of the #1 boots took a fairly significant ego hit.

If I had booted Debb first twice in a row, I think I actually would have hanged myself. I felt horribly guilty about it. I remember even Diane (My Greece advisor) sort of felt bad about it. That was a hard episode to write.

That episode will be dramatic. People would be playing a crazy game because they don't to be humiliated again.

I even had one Survivor alum actually ask me to "be sensitive" when I wrote the first episode. It was a fairly significant issue. That was, by far, my favorite of your fics. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, and really looked forward to every episode. The only things I didn't like about it: Diane being booted early. Jessie not winning. And the odd "We figured you were gonna win, so we attached the immunity necklace to your statue" Probst comment to Tanya during the reunion. The producers wouldn't dare be so pretentious with a contestant (especially the winner), lest accusations of rigging start flying around.

She was one of the people who helped me research the story. She was my unofficial Survivor "insider" to help with most of the characterizations. It broke my heart that I had to boot her third. That was easily the most unpleasant thing I have ever had to do during my time as a Survivor writer. I literally didn't log on for like two days after I posted that episode, because I didn't want to talk to her. Jessie winning would have been interesting. Even though I'm not entirely sure that her character was 100% accurate, I was always proud of what I was able to do with her. If nothing else, she was an interesting character. And yeah the Tanya line seems a little pretentious. I don't know. I haven't read Greece or the reunion in about four years, so I sort of forget the context behind that comment. I'm sure it sounded like it made sense when I wrote it. And yes, I agree. Greece is my personal favorite of my stories as well. It's by far the most ambitious of my All-Star stories. When I first sat down to plan it, I didn't really think it could be done. The characters were too obscure. The only reason it DID work as well as it did was because a few Survivor came to my rescue and agreed to help plan out some of the characters. I will always owe a debt of gratitude to people like Diane, Teresa Cooper, Rob Cesternino, Gabriel Cade, Tanya Vance, and Peter Harkey. They all helped a lot with that story, and they are the reason it worked (especially the ending).

Even though I'm not entirely sure that her character was 100% accurate, I was always proud of what I was able to do with her. If nothing else, she was an interesting character. I really liked how you characterized her, too. If you've ever read Battle Royale, she reminded me of Mitsuko (minus the homicidal insanity and outright sluttiness). Jessie was fully intent on winning the game. There was a method to everything she did; even her "showmances" were strictly business with her. She did make it reasonably far, and I know she got stuck in a minority at the merge and the others (rightfully) viewed her as too dangerous to keep around...but still, I would've much rather seen her in the F4 over Ramona or Peter.

I'd like to see some play again. Ideally Robb from Thailand, Bobdawg, and Angie from Palau. I don't think anyone that made the merge should be allowed to play in it.

Or just anything that they told you? Oh gosh. I'm pretty sure I wrote about it a lot of times. I had a ton of help with my Greece story. You can try digging through my story notes, I'm sure a lot of it ended up there. If not, just ask specific questions and I'll see if I can try to remember them. One thing that I very specifically remember was that Rob C told me that Ryan Aiken cracked him up because Ryan came out to the Amazon having never seen an episode of Survivor before. Ryan's excuse was that he couldn't watch Survivor because it was on the same night as WWF Smackdown. That story always cracked Rob up, and I thought it was funny too so I used it in my Greece story. In fact, Ryan's boot episode is even entitled "Smackdown." I also remember that I had the hardest time getting any insider hints on how to write Kel. Nobody seemed to have any idea what the guy was like in real life. More than one person just described him as "... odd." He was by far the hardest character for me to write because even people that knew him in real life didn't know what to make of him. I just basically had to make up a character for him and see if it stuck. Writing Gabriel, Peter and Tanya was pretty easy because they all practically wrote themselves. Peter and Tanya even gave me specific sections of dialogue they would use in certain situations. It was really cool. Peter Harkey's wife even told me that the Peter in the story sounded more like her husband than her actual husband did. That was one of the best compliments I have ever gotten. Of course, you do know that the team captains picked their own teams, right? Diane and Gabriel and I did a "draft" over the phone and I used it in the story. Those are the actual players they picked. It was a thrill to work with both of them, they couldn't have been better. Gabriel was so antsy during the story he used to "nudge" me every couple of days to get a new episode up. He even followed the story when he was in Europe on vacation.
