Thanks again. Just seeing the names from TARA1 makes me want to watch that season again. It was so good.

I'm two weeks late but I decided to watch the finale today and boy, was my prediction wrong. I was thinking that it's pointless for me to watch the
inevitable Mactormanwhore win so why suffer watching the events unfold anyway? Thankfully, not only Colin and Adrian won but the sisters also beat the twats.
Poetic justice.
At least we will not see these two apes again. Ever. (unless they get invited back for All-Stars) The season has redeemed itself. |

Time to unsticky this thread. Get it alive with your posts.
Also Bertram is now solidly tied to TAR Asia. Not just a separate franchise so much any more. He's bought shares in the TAR Asia production company now as well. http://www.worldscreen.com/newscurrent.php?filename=active022808.htm Yeah I tried the hyperlink thing first but still can't work it right.

casting has been one of the main problems of TARA. in Tara1, they casted a lot of Caucasians. Shouldn't it be all about Asians? Maybe they think those
casted will prove to be more interesting. Based on how it went, it is a forgettable season.
they needed and wanted to redeem their selves for Tara2. Hence, they found applicants that will fit their scripts. Yes, they had a plot for the race that will make it really interesting. 1. they had a person with minor disability, trying to duplicate the support given to Mirna and Charla 2. they included a team that has been used to speaking in front of a camera., M/R, which according to them submitted an obviously scripted video. 3. they had attractive ladies like Paula who can also speak freely infront of the camera. So the plot/ script was for a team to dominate majority of the leg and not get eliminated early. Which M/R did. And the condition was for the underdogs to win in the final leg to really make it exciting and be talked about for a long time. Even re-runs will be watched by those who missed it because they will want to know how it happened. You might disagree, but the facts are: 1. M/R knows the system in TV shows and were easier to convince on the necessity in creating excitement in the show rather than simply winning it. Who would want to be in a boring show that people just want to forget about. In show business, being the talked of the town for a long time is half of the success. in the event that they exit before the final leg, then its still an underdog win because they clearly were a lot stronger and more savvy than other racers. 2. 15 flags with mostly Asian in origin, combining and showing to the judge would be quite easy. And it can be done in a few minutes of time. Especially when 1 is your own. that narrows it to 9. So he had to act really well to pretend he doesnt know it. 3. according to a lot of you, writers, newspaper columnist, bloggers, this was one of the best endings. in fact it was labeled as a dream ending with the underdog winning in the end. 4. The editors were really looking for excitement. Having Rov dance in a club and its shown in the editing even if it does not influence the outcome. Also, showing that a jogger runs faster than their bike coupled with their remarks. But its not that obvious how the script was run. It is still reality tv for the most part. |

Total BS indeed. Like it or not, the Caucasians MADE the show.
Andy/Laura was the best casting choice that season and was the center of all drama in almost every episode. (after they were eliminated, the entertainment factor of the series dropped significantly) In addition, Howard/Sahran (as much as I hated them) provided something to the table - they were fun to laugh AT. And Fransesca (and her mini-semi-meltdowns) was highly memorable.
Andrew/Seyeon who???? |

What was wrong with casting Caucasians in TARA? It's like saying TAR can't cast Asians like The Cho Brothers or Ronald and Christina or any other multi
ethnic Americans. To say TARA is supposed "all about Asians," is a rotten case of double standard.

c'mon... The main thing that people are gonna be fascinated about TARA is that we see ASIANS running the race this time. We've seen so many Caucasians
run the US season so shouldn't the Asian edition give Asians the opportunity instead? Especially when they have the luxury of having an ENTIRE continent of
Asians to choose from and these people have so starking differences in their lifestyles/personalities/cultures/beliefs... etc etc. It just seems so much of a
waste to give so many spots to Caucasians

Huh? There were two "western" caucasian couples on TARA1. And one half team (Howard). Everyone else was Asian. And yes India and Sri Lanka are
totally part of Asia. Indians and Sri Lankans are officially caucasian by race but they are also Asian as they live in Asia. And people from those countries
were just as eligible as "oriental" Asians as far as TARA is concerned. And there are many caucasians not only living in Asia but being born there
as well plus many people of mixed race background. TARA needs diversity just as much as TAR does.
And TARA2 had just as many non "Asians". Marc and Rovilson refer to each other in their official AXN bios as "Aussie" and "American" so they are not 100% Asian pure. Henry is Afro-American. Paula & Natasha were at least part Australian and definitely looked 100% caucasian. Aurelia was French. As far as "non-caucasians" on US TAR, I'm the first to complain it isn't diverse enough. But there have been a decent spattering of minorities which can include latinos. They are also caucasian though they tend these days to be lumped into another grouping where people mix up ethnic background for a race. Even people not named Lou Dobbs. Then there are Semites (Jews and Arabs) who sometimes are considered caucasian and sometimes are considered anther race by various people. So other than white caucasian Christians or secular, non-believers who came from a Christian heritage, we have: TAR1 - 2 black teams, I Jew (Drew) TAR2 - 2 black teams, 1 Jew (Gary), 1 latino team TAR3 - 2 black teams, 1 Asian (Kathy), 1 Jewish team (Teri & Ian) plus 1 individual Jewish racer (Zach - he won) TAR4 - 1 black team (Least diverse season ever, yet another reason TAR4 sucked) TAR5 - 1 black team (they won), 1 ethnic Armenian-American team that were both born in Syria (yes that is part of Asia too) TAR6 - 1 black team, 1 Jewish team, 1 latina racer (Maria) TAR7 - 1 black team (they won), 1 Arab-American (Alex) and I think Bianca was latina or partially so TAR8 - 1 black family appropriately (cough) named The Black Family TAR9 - 1 black team, 1 latina team TAR10 - 2 black teams (one of which were also Muslim), 2 Asian teams (remember, India is part of Asia) TAR11 - 1 black team, 1 Asian team, 1 latina team plus a couple of others of latino heritage (Rachel and I think Lorena too) There may be others but this is just off the top of my head. |

this forum would have to say. It would still boil down to ratings.. And what do you know, this season created more buzz than the first one, and if you need
further proof, just look at the number of posters in the AXN forums. Heck, even the queers in this forum created a lame-ass, gay M/R hate thread, which is
proof that the season 2 formula is working... And I bet you my hairy balls, which you all of you badly need, that the next season will have more mactors casts
in their show.. Oh by the way, for once pimp, I agree with you, that we should stop casting Caucasians because it leaves a bad taste on the show whose primary
goal is to represent the Amazing Race version in Asia. I mean how can Asian viewers relate to a bunch of white people who has no attachment to the people, and
culture of the country they are representing...And lastly you can insult all you want those posters in the AXN forums, which I am not a member by the way, but
I bet you that the producers are paying more attention on what this people have to say, simply because they represent a bigger demographic... You know the
demographic who belongs to a group who actually watch, enjoy and support their teams.. Instead of the small number of analytic, boring, hard to please,
racer's wannabe, hippie groups in this forum...
