In the spirit of the countdown craze that has swept CTS, I've decided to make my own countup of my top 20 TAR teams ever. However, since 90% of you probably know my #1, and about 8% of you possess the intellectual requirements to guess based on my name, this countdown will be backwards. And kind of "borrowing" an idea from beatles, each team will have a race highlight with them.

That being said, here is my fave and second fave TAR teams...










1. Rob & Amber

Probably the most polarizing team to ever hit the Amazing race, there's no doubt that 99% of people either love them or hate them. Obviously, I'm in the former camp. Even if you hated them, there's no denying they are one of the best teams to ever go on the race (unless you're RVS). In TAR7, everyone hated them (with the exception of Ray/Deana and Ron/Kelly), but that just made them that much more fun to root for. Even though they were kicking ass, they were in a way, underdogs, because everyone wanted to see them eliminated. They showed a cunning side to a point that we hadn't really seen too much of on the race thus far, like blocking bus doors, bribing officers to keep info to themselves, taking a penalty and what could have been the best move in TAR history of all time: paying the bus driver to abandon 8 teams in the middle of no where for 24 hours, giving them a tremendous lead; IIRC, something with production took too long, and they were unable to pull it off, but think of the ROMBEROWNAGE that could have been. I know many of you cringe with that statement. Anyway, they came so close to winning the first time, screwed by a flight and a poor taxi driver, but came back for TARAS and dominated the first 3 legs. Too bad everything fell apart in leg 4, but I have no doubt they had a huge shot at winning had they survived that leg.

Race Highlight: So many, but on the race, coming in first 3 times was awesome. But my overall favourite moment was the spoilers that pointed to their final 4 elimination in TAR7 on the London leg, but not only were they NOT eliminated, but they managed to get first place, with a hefty lead over all other teams.







2. Dustin & Kandice

I liked them better in TAR10, because like Romber, they were the villians that everyone wanted to see lose, but they were kicking ass. Still loved them in TARAS, and the sneaky blondes returned to being hated towards the end of TARAS, so it brought back TAR10 vibes. In TAR10, everyone expected them to be the token Megan/Heidi that would be lucky to make it to leg 3 of the race. But my, and many other's, love grew in episode 2 when they showed that they could be kick ass competitors. They ran the leg in first place most of the time, and destroyed the detour, whereas Peter and Gimp were having an oh so hilarious meltdown. The only reason they lost was because of that damn helmet, but regardless, this is where we knew that they weren't just a dumb blond team. Their feud with Lyn/Karlbitch was hilarious, especially when they bought tickets for the model boys causing a hilarious bitch fight to ensue. I respect their competitive edge, which is also the factor that I think turned a lot of racers off, since they were all business most of the time, but I still think a lot of hate was undeserved. Regardless, they kept trucking through, managed 2 first places, and earned a spot on all stars, where they were level headed, strong competitors, and managed to kick ass and get first place numerous times. They also became the Yield Queens, as they managed to not only yield Eric/Danielle once, but twice when they bought Oswald/Danny's. Their feud with Mirnacunt was also great.

Race Highlight: Managing to get first place in Malaysia despite being 2.5ish hours behind Charla/Mirna. I also liked "I'm gonna make a beauty queen sandwich out of her."

I realize many of you will probably be turned off to this countdown solely based on Romber being number 1, but that is why I put them first, to get it over with. I'm sure most of the remaining teams will be more likeable in your eyes, and if not, fuck you.

Any predictions?
