Okay, so I buy ice cream for my husband at the grocery store every week. Am I hallucinating, or did the Edy's/Dreyer's brand ice cream container shrink, even though it's the same price? It's either that or my freezer is getting larger.

Two answers
1. It's true. We have Frito Lay HQed in Dallas, and there was a story in the paper about how they are filling their containers 10% less to compensate against rising distribution and product costs. 2. That's what she said. |

Things are getting smaller and staying the same price. I am glad things are getting smaller, it can help with the weight control problem that many people have.
However, the price on everything needs to go down.. we're heading into a depresstion.

Hamdingers wrote: No. I said a lot of people have a problem with over-eating and it's an addiction so it's hard to eat the amount we should be eating. I think Super Size Me or whatever that movie is called helped some people cause it made them think of what they were doing and they began to drop weight. However that is some people, not everyone... there are still a lot of people who have the addiction to eat more than they should be eating. So shirking the amount of food at places, should help. And maybe it needs to be the same price, because people don't have much money and that could stop them from buying another or something. Order small when you order at a fast food place, even when something cost 25 cents more or whatever.. that's closer to the right amount of food you should be eating anyway. |

The proportion of people who are overweight has definitely gone down since this movie came out. LOL. |

kleenex started this mess. a box of tissues used to be a standard 200, now it's usually 144, or less if you buy the fancy ones.
ice cream has shrunk here too, from 2 litres to 1.8. if only ice cream were sold by weight- a pint of premium IC weighs the same as a 2-L cheaper brand. the less air ice cream has in it, the better, and the more expensive. what a racket. for grins, I punched the air out of a container of ice cream recently, and the thing was less than half full when I was done compressing it. chips also, used to come in 200g bags for the normal size, now it's down to 170, or even 150g. in some cases. |

I totally agree with you on the chips, Ashley. It seems like 80% of the bag is nothing but air now-a-days. They made the bags bigger, yet the amount inside
smaller.

I would be devastated by Ashley's post if I understood the metric system.
