Eleven teams depart for a race around the world. They are:
Martha and Lois, professors and life partners.
Martha: Being on the race is something. I've been a fan since the start of the show, and I never thought I'd be on it.
Lois: This is truly amazing, but I wouldn't want to do it with anyone other than Martha.
Alex and Krysta, attorneys.
Alex; Krysta and I are in an on-again, off-again relationship. We met while working for the same firm, and we eventually opened one up together.
Krysta: We're hoping the race will help us become closer. If not as a couple, then as friends.
Zeke and Chauncy, best friends.
Zeke: We're here to have fun, man. We love travel, and we know we've got it in us.
Chauncy: The money is great and all, but it's really all about the experience.
Sarah and Amber, roommates.
Sarah: Our biggest influence for going on the race are Mary and Peach. They were the original good girly-girl team, and we want to show that a girl team CAN win.
Amber: Exactly. We can do this thing!
Dan and Mary, recently married.
Dan: I've been all over the world. I'm going to use that experience to help us in the race.
Mary: We love traveling. We've been to every country in Europe. Our international knowledge is bound to give us the upper hand.
Shayne and Katie, twins.
Shayne: After I went to college, and Katie joined the military, we lost touch until only a few months ago. We barely know each other, and hope that this will bring us together again.
Katie: Even so, my brother's my best friend and my worst enemy. It's going to be a long, but fun, ride.
Erica and Isela, coworkers.
Erica: We are the toughest girls in this race. Nothing will stand in our way to win the million.
Isela: We're pulling out all the stops. We have no problem being ruthless.
Keith and Brittany, best friends.
Brittany: Keith and I went out all through high school. We went to the same college together, and in our junior year he came out of the closet. We've been best friends ever since.
Keith: We always were best friends, but now it'd…um…just different. We're really close, probably closer then most of these teams.
Phillip and Katherine, cousins.
Phillip: This is going to be so hard, but if we persevere, we can get through anything.
Katharine: Phillip is the biggest pessimist you'll ever meet. Everything's bad. Everything's out to get him. But we're both hard workers, so we'll pull through.
Kimber and Justin, engaged.
Kimber: We're the biggest race fans ever. We met in college, and that was when we started watching.
Justin: We aren't going to let the race get in the way of the love we have for each other. We're here to win a lot of money and see the world, not fight constantly.
And Escher and Abbey, brother and sister.
Escher: Abbey and I are best friends. Our biggest strength is that we're used to fatigue, and we both have level heads.
Abbey: You won't see us getting into any fights.
They don't know what they'll face.
"Oh my God. What is that?! Get it away!"
"Get out of the car, it's on fire!"
"This is killer fatigue, man. Killer!"
They don't know where they're going.
"Fly yourselves to…"
"Take a ferry to…"
"Drive approximately 116 miles to…"
They don't know how they're getting there.
"What's a tap-tap?!"
"I can't start this damn thing!"
"We're on board a pirate ship. Oh, I'm home!"
But they don't want to be last.
"Run, Shayne, run!"
"Hurry up, we can't be last."
"Did they just pass us? F-ck!"
"So…if we're last, do you just want to stay here?"
Eleven Teams. Twelve Countries. One amazing race.
