I was expecting to like it and loved it. The opening phone message stuff was great. Loved the brother, loved New christine's awkwardness. Andy Richter as Sad Dad = Genius.
It works. |

There was no sex in episode 1.

Just judging from the title of the show, you just know it isn't going to last long. Shows with titles like that never last.

Agreeance; the title is HORRIBLE and discourages me from watching it. Who's gonna sit around the watercooler and say, "hey didja see The new adven...."? It just doesn't rattle of the tongue so smoothly! by the time you finish saying the damn name of the show your coffee break if over. People really need to think more about the name of their shows.

Wow I expected this show to be a huge bomb but judging from feedback it was apparently pretty great, I might have to check it out.
Yeah, the title really is pretty terrible. It was originally just "Old Christine" and why they didn't go with that, which was great, is beyond me. |

If it's so good, then whomever produced the commercials for it needs to be canned. My impressions from the commercials was that it wasn't in the least bit funny.

It's just Elaine in another life experience. She will always be Elaine.

I missed it too Pappy. Between Wife Swap, The Apprentice, and Medium, I didn't even know it was on.

Quote: 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter And ya, the commercials made it look waaaaaaaay worse than it actually was. It did really well, actually improving on its ratings by the second episode. "Deal or No Deal," 9.3/14, put NBC in the lead at 8 p.m. CBS took second with "The King of Queens," 7.4/12, and the premiere of "Old Christine," 7.9/12. ABC's "Wife Swap" was third at 6.1/9, and FOX took fourth with a repeat of last fall's "Prison Break" finale, 4.4/7. A repeat of "7th Heaven" on The WB beat out reruns of "One on One" and "All of Us" on UPN. CBS took the lead at 9 p.m. with "Two and a Half Men," 10.9/16, and the time-period debut of "Old Christine," 9.8/15. FOX jumped up to second with "24," 8.0/12. "The Apprentice" posted a 6.5/10 for NBC, edging "Supernanny" on ABC. "Girlfriends" and "Half & Half" moved UPN ahead of The WB and "Related," 1.4/2. |

AFAIK, it was still officially called 8SRFDMTD until the lead actor (whose name escapes me at the moment) passed away. I do agree with you, it's a ridiculous name. I'm just offering proof that it's doesn't necessarily equal failure.

Maybe it was officially 8SRFDMTD, but whenever it was referred to in commercials, it was just "8 Simple Rules".

all I can do is laugh. Don't believe CBS put a show like this on air. I gues they're trying to appeal to people into sex nowadays.

I really liked the first episode. Haven't seen the 2nd one yet, I need to watch it later.
I get the feeling though this is one of those shows I'll like the first time I see it, but wouldn't sit through repeats of. |

A prominent TV critic says to wait until the 3rd ep, which she's apparently seen, b/f you pass judgment.
This coming Monday's ep is the 3rd, correct? Btw, I hated Seinfeld and shall always connote Julia Louise Dreyfuss with her SNL days. |
