Tonight's PBP ... Dedicated to my comrade gottabenuts ... I'll shed a tear as we pass by your namepost tonight.

Four Survivors are left. Only one can win a million bucks. The season finale, next.

36 days ago, deep within the largest rain forest, 16 Americans began the adventure of a lifetime on the Rio Negro, Amazon. The castaways were shocked to learn, divided by gender. Christy had a shock of her own (deaf .. Jenna's confessional, problem communicating). She had trouble communicating w/her tribe. (Christy conf's)

The men of Timbo quickly biult shelter (Rob conf: I'm a Lumberjack) while the women were out in the rain. Men discovered the hazards of jungle life (Alex and Butch injuries) and it appeared the women wouldn't be able to survive at all (Shawna).

Despite the women's problems at camp, they won 4 of first 5 challenges. But neither tribe could escape TC. Two men and two women voted out early. Then, Dave and Jenna's date night in the jungle. (Jenna's conf) But the next day they were forced to pick new tribes. (Dave conf) Alex, Rob and Matt to Jabaru; Christy, Jeanne and Heidi to Timbo. Tears for some, excitement for others. (Deena conf, Shawna's better. Christy's happy.)

New Timbo lost immunity, and Dave approached Heidi. Heidi sided w/men to vote out Jeanne. At Jabaru, Rob and Deena an unlikely alliance. (Rob conf) Jabaru went to next TC, and the women sided w/men to vote out Shawna.

On Day 19, a merge. Jacare was born. Women appeared to be outnumbered, but a new alliance gave Roger the boot, then Dave got the boot. (Deena: Battle of weaker vs. stronger) Deena tried to get rid of Alex, but the plan backfired.

H/R/A/J were in control till Alex revealed his plan to Rob (F4 he's out) so Rob formed a new alliance. (Rob discussions w/Matt, Christy). After a stunned Alex was voted out, Heidi/Jenna furious.

When Matt won reward, he sacrified a visit from Mom so the rest could see their loved ones. (Rob conf: I may have to cut him off before F2.) Christy unsure how to vote. Her ambivalence made Rob change sides again. At TC, Christy was the 11th out.

Last week, Matt won RC and invited Rob to a tailgate cookout. Meanwhile, a fire destroyed their camp. (Believe sign hangs half burnt.) Jenna learned her endurance has its limits. (I feel like crap!) After Matt won IC, the men forced the sick Jenna to stay. Heidi became the 5th member of the jury.

Only four remain. Matthew, Jenna, Butch and Rob. Tonight they'll compete in their final immunity challenges. Two face the jury. One will outlast the others and become the ...

Night 36.

Rob conf: Voting H out was tough decision; but these last couple of days reminded me of a birthday card: No matter how hot the girl on the outside is, somebody is tired of putting up with her crap.

Butch conf: It's the final four. Miserable conditions. Deep inside, jumping for joy.

Jenna conf: To be the last woman here, I've accomplished all my goals.

Rob: Someone in this foursome will win this game.
Jenna: I'm happy to be here, even though tomorrow I'll be saying goodbye. Happily.

Butch conf: Matt, Rob and I have a strong alliance. We felt like Heidi was the bigger threat. J knows she's next.

J: Really glad I got to hang out with you guys. I'm seriously with a great group.
Rob: We're all friends. We all rely on each other.
Matt: We got 3 days, right?

M conf: Straightforward - Beat Jenna, send her home. Butch, Rob and I then face off. May the best man win.

JP: Collect necklaces at each of the 4 stages, Earth, Wind, Fire and Water. Use your fingers to read the guides at each station to determine your way through the maze. First person to return with all 4 necklaces, guaranteed immunity and can't be voted out.

(Probst locks them in and puts their buffs down over their eyes.)

JP: Go!!

They each head off in different directions. It's pouring rain and very very muddy. Jenna runs facefirst into a corner. OW! She's to the first station. So is Matt. Matt has a necklace. Butch is using his hands on the burlap making up the maze walls. Jenna has one also. Rob in 3rd, Butch is lost.

Jenna on the 2nd station ... feeling the guiding post and Matt gropes Jenna by accident!?

Jenna and Butch collide.
J: Butch, you're married!

JP: Be quiet about what you're doing, you guys!
Matt has his 2nd necklace. Jenna now has her 2nd.

JP: Butch, you need some help!
Jenna: All the boys need some help.
Butch and Matt .. working together!? Hmm ... they're talking and sharing info but not gaining ground because of it. Jenna and Butch collide again.

It's only Matt and Jenna in this .. Butch is out of it.

Matt has 3 now. Jenna has her 3rd also. On to the 4th and final. Rob gets his 2nd. Both Matt and Jenna have their directions "read" ... on their way.

Jenna first to the 4th necklace. She now has to find her way back. She reads the guidepost. Matt speeds it up and gets his 4th .... what a race ...

JENNA wins immunity !!!!

Rob votes BUTCH. I don't think all the firewood in the forest will keep your torch lit tonight, buddy. Nice game.

Butch's final words (summary):

I just experienced the adventure of a lifetime. I played hard, and well. The sign I took, I mean it. Believe in yourself. You go out and set your goals and dreams, and you can do it. Look at me: I made it to Survivor.

Moon moves sideways ... fire burns ... Night 37.

Rob: Anything we can do about these MOTHS!?
J: Killer moths!
Rob conf: We thought the worst was over, then we were attacked by kamikaze moths. Dunno where they came from.
M: Seems to be alot of 'em.
J: Dive bombing!

Daybreak. Day 38.

Bird flies overhead w/its catch.
Rob: By my estimates, all of us get 16, 17 manioc cakes.
R conf: We decided to have the biggest breakfast of our time here.
Matt: Big meal for a big day.
J: Very good, Rob!!

TREE MAIL.

Jenna: Maybe it'll be a candy bar?

It's a scale.

And the seaplane is off with the Final 3. Over the Amazon it goes .. not a cloud in the sky, nothing but lush greenery and beautiful watery scenes. Another lone bird, and then another ... apparently MB's favorite metaphor.

J conf: Hard to grasp how large and beautiful the Amazon is.
M conf: We saw rolling green carpets of jungle. It was exilirating. Difficult to put in words.
R conf: A really nice time and a chance to enjoy the amazing scenery, but under the surface the game is still being played and it's far from over.

Plane flight over ... canoeing now ... it's late afternoon.

M conf: Through a weed choked river to a small hut.
Jenna: This is cool!
Matt: What's this, a crotch protector?
Rob: I don't think it's a cup!?

J conf: We decorated ourselves really cool, painted each other's faces.

(The standard F3 ritual thingy ...)

Rob conf: I dunno what the immunity challenge will be, but it's the most important of the game. It could cost me a million dollars.
Matt conf: If Jenna or Rob won, I wouldn't have to vote against someone. That person would then favor me. It could be a wise strategic move to lose on purpose.
Jenna conf: I've really worked hard to get here. I don't know which of them I can win against. Rob burned everyone, may be easier to beat. But it's out of my hands until the immunity challenge so I"m not going to stress over it.
