June 25, 2008 Auditions for the eighth season of American Idol begin Thursday, July 17, at the Cow Palace in San Francisco, CA, and will continue in seven other cities. Once again, auditioners will have an extraordinary opportunity to perform before millions of TV viewers and become household names, with one winning the coveted American Idol title and a major recording contract. Auditions will be held as follows: Thursday, July 17 San Francisco, CA The Cow Palace Monday, July 21 Louisville, KY Freedom Hall Friday, July 25 Phoenix, AZ Jobing.com Arena Tuesday, July 29 Salt Lake City, UT EnergySolutions Arena Saturday, August 2 San Juan, Puerto Rico Coliseo de Puerto Rico Friday, August 8 Kansas City, MO Sprint Center Wednesday, August 13 Jacksonville, FL Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena Tuesday, August 19 East Rutherford, NJ IZOD Center at the Meadowlands Specific information for the San Francisco auditions is below. More details for the additional audition cities will be announced shortly. San Francisco American Idol Auditions WHO: Men and women 16-28 years old as of July 15, 2008, who are eligible to work in the U.S. Some restrictions apply - please visit americanidol.com for specific information. WHERE: The Cow Palace 2600 Geneva Ave. Daly City, CA 94014 WHEN: Thursday, July 17 HOW: Wristbands will be distributed from 7:00 AM on Tuesday, July 15 until 8:00 AM on Thursday, July 17. Auditioners will not be permitted to camp out; therefore, once they obtain their wristbands, they will be asked to return to the Cow Palace on Thursday, July 17.

With Puerto Rico and Phoenix on the list, expect some hot latinos/latinas on next year's show. Yay. And as a Kentuckian, I'm excited to see what talent the area is hiding.

I don't expect to make it as far as the first hurdle, but it should be an interesting experience. This will be the first time that Idol auditions have been held in Kansas City, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, Jacksonville, Louisville, and PUERTO RICO! San Francisco and the New York metropolitan area have hosted before. I was hoping that Puerto Rico would play host to an Idol audition.

The judges will come when they film the contestants who survive the first round. AI producers apparently promised the same exposure that US cities get, so I take it that Puerto Rico auditions will get their own episode.

Posts: 632 (06/29/08 11:13 AM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	The list is a nice collection of cities that have either been missed (Louisville/Cincinatti and Jacksonville were on my informal list of cities they needed to try), have produced top 2 finalists (Phoenix, Salt Lake City) or which are due for a repeat (New York City). San Juan is the unexpected one. Hopefully the people they find there won't be as clueless as Zayra Alvarez on Rock Star: Supernova. One potential problem: what do they do with people that have gotten recording contracts with companies that only distribute CDs IN PUERTO RICO? They'd better decide that before they start. If they decide those singers ARE eligable they will be faced with a repeat of the Carly situation.
