I didn't see a thread for this. It's a new syndicated series based on Terry Goodkind's shitty fantasy novels. It might be good for a few laughs. We need something to fill the void left by Xena and Hercules anyway. The guy who plays Richard looks like he's 12 years old. 2-hour premiere event tonight. Make sure you have plenty of wine on hand to go with all the cheese. |

Watched the 2 hour premiere last night. Horrible time slot here -- Sunday at 11 pm. I enjoyed it and will watch it again. I was actually surprised that it
wasn't as cheesy as I thought it would be. There are some obvious differences from the books (as to be expected), but it's close enough so far. I
wasn't sure I would buy into the actors as the characters, especially Richard, but by the end I was ok with it.
Who knew that "Khalan" was pronounced Kay-lyn! |

I thought the best actor was the Maori guy who played 'Chase'. I thought the actors playing 'Richard' and 'Zedd' were both abysmal.
That's a big problem...

I caught this show this past weekend, though it was on Saturday 5-7 in my area. It's been a long time since I've read the Goodkind books, so I
didn't mind any changes to the story since I wouldn't have recognized them even if they had been there. It wasn't fantastic, but for a pilot it
was solid and there's a lot of potential. Having Sam Raimi behind it should help with the production as well. All in all I give it B+ for the premiere
and will give it several more eps.

It's been quite a while since I read the books too. A few changed details here and there won't bother me. I thought the premiere was ok. Nothing
spectacular, but not a snoozer either.
I'm not crazy about the woman playing Khalan. She seems a bit...plain. Still, she doesn't bother me as much as the pronunciation of Kay-lyn.

How did you think it was pronounced? I always assumed Kahlan was "Kay-Lyn"...

life. Sometimes you just have to let go and enjoy it even if it only comes close to what happens in your head while reading. I'm escaping enjoyably and
I'll stick with it. More naked Zed with a chicken hahahaha!
eta: And seriously come on...those stop action fight scenes KICKED ASS.

I actually really like this show. Reminds me of the days of Xena -and yes, I know it's made by the same people. But I loved Xena, and I love this!
Richard is hot. More shirtless scenes, please. I was also shocked at how they pronounce Kahlan. I always thought it was Kuh-lawn, not Kay-lan. |

I just caught part of this today. Didn't really see enough of it to form an opinion other than Zedd seems pissed off and Richard looks like a 12-year-old
little person.

Well, a few weeks into the show and I still like it. I have completely forgotten any correlation to the books and am enjoying the show as just a fun fantasy.
Plus an hour of Bridget Regan each week certainly doesn't hurt.

I always thought Kaylan was pronouced Call-en.
I'm enjoying the show but I really have to ignore how many liberties they are taking with staying true to the books. The changes made in the premiere episode (mostly) made sense for a TV series but the last 2 weeks have just had me shaking my head. I have to remind myself that the show is based on the books, it is not a serialized version of them. What 12 year-old has muscles like the guy who plays Richard, jail-bait? I'm enjoying shirtless Richard. |
