Why are there so many good people this year? |

Usually I hate hate hate 2/3 of them. I don't hate anyone!

A. We haven't seen them fall apart during the theme weeks yet.
B. Maybe for once they actually decided to fill the top 24 with quality singers. |

Because they realized that they need a win this season. Taylor and Jordin didn't really succeed, they need good singers to avoid someone less than great
winning.

Because they've finally realized that they're not going to be able to load up the top 24 with 2-4 people they want to pimp out and 20 cannon fodder
targets and be guaranteed to have their favorite win.
They wanted Chris and Melinda. They got Taylor and Jordin. Hence the change. |

The difference is the quality of the male contestants this season.
Blake was supposedly the best of the guys last season. This season I doubt he would even make top 12. |

I like a lot of people this year as well...
But (AS ALWAYS) there are a few i'm going to hate all season long (I'm looking at you Carly, Amanda and Robbie) |

Last season was a "flop" (ratings went down, finale was boring, the tour wasn't popular)

Definitely the best contestants yet. I agree, getting rid of group performances, allows singers to stay based on their own merit (and they don't get forced
to sing the group songs that they have to sing with the group if it doesn't suit their style). Also, the judges seem less concerned with gimmicky singers
this year (i.e. Blake or that guy that sounded like Justin Timberlake, etc). They're actually letting good people go on to the next round.

Nobody is a joke because they can't afford another Sanjaya. That eliminates all the "joke" but fun contestants. So everyone they let though is
probably at the least a semi-professional. . Nobody will get better as the season goes on though . What you see is what you get. Idol has completely lost
that transformation thing. No more doofuses or shy girls that evolve into stars before your eyes. So a boring crap feast yet again.

I agree with all of 'em being extremely talented, last year I just kept going 'WTF' at all of their final auditions when they got put through the
top 24. Hopefully it boosts ratings, though I don't think last year's drop had anything to do with talent, more-so AI is just getting old.

IAWTC about happy that the group round is gone--it only unfairly dragged down the good singers.
I'm also happy that it doesn't appear that there to be a lot of belters amongst the group, and the girls that do keep it to a reasonable level. The guys definitely have a lot more potential too. Nobody will get better as the season goes on though . What you see is what you get. Idol has completely lost that transformation thing. No more doofuses or shy girls that evolve into stars before your eyes. So a boring crap feast yet again. IMHO, this is the best thing yet for the show. As fun as Cinderella stories are, IRL, the ones that are going to get discovered are the ones who work their asses off playing small gigs til they get that one moment to prove themselves. I'd rather take a top 24 that can sing and perform than one full of people who, with some training, might do well for themselves by midpoint. |

they feel as though they seriously need to regain some credibility after the disaster that was last season, so they're not taking chances this time and are
actually casting people on talent rather than entertainment factor.

If that's the case, why is homeless boy still around? He was awful, awful, AWFUL.

isn't it because they encouraged the professionals to apply? Most of those people are not just amateurs, but people who have been performing, and it shows
and is making this such a better year.

Yeah,, all the top people are ringers and plants. With David (Star search winner) and Carly and Micheal (major label recording artists) as the favorites
leading the list. Predict in a few years all the top 12 will have been scouted in advance and pre-signed, the show will be used to gain them nationwide promo.
The show can't afford another Sanjaya which is why I'll def be voting for the worst one there. Hopefully none of the three ringers will make it to Top
3.

If people wanted talent they'd watch the Grammys and Idol crushes them in ratings. People want an emotional roller coaster ride that functions like a soap opera -good people, bad people, clowns. |
