There are and forever will be some bodies that haven't or won't ever be accounted for. Nor will the perpetrators of this insane act ever be prosecuted.
I wish I could say that I felt a lot better in the aftermath of 9-11 but I can't. Political unrest in the States and the debacle in the Middle East won't allow it.
But I can say that I am very proud of everyone and anyone who has ever fought for the cause since that infamous Tuesday in September of 2001. Be it an EMT, NYPD, NYFD during the actual event or a soldier overseas in Aghanistan...May God bless you all.
We thank you for all that you've done. We thank you for all that you will do.
Ordinarily 5 years is more than enough time to get over something. However, in this instance, I think it will forever be embedded in the back of all of our minds.
Let's not ever, EVER forget what happened on that day. But in the same token, let's ALWAYS celebrate the courage and honor that so many people displayed in the aftermath of it all.
Men and women.
Young and old.
God bless us all.
