The show is too good, but it needs to be done in small quantities, infrequently.

Oh shit, I loved this show. My family used to watch it together when I was younger (on BBC America, I think). I think Holly was my favorite character.

I still catch myself singing the themesong occasionally. :c x

Talk about kismet! I bought the Blu-Ray of Back to Earth tonight (last night technically) and my brother an I were discussing whether a new season was going to happen and was going to check and bump this thread.

After the success of "Back to Earth" (Well.. people other than me liked it!) Robert Llewellyn confirmed today that Red Dwarf will be back sometime at the end of 2010.

He said in his twitter stream:

Well, that was right, then! I waited and watched it all as one episode, and really enjoyed it! It definitely suffered from being split up. Now I hope they make more. Much better than I thought it would be just from watching Part One.

Yup. I agree. Having no audience and shooting it in a cinematic way reminds me of Season 7, which was the worst season. The guys need an audience to play and mug off of and to get their comedic timing right. The snot ironing scene would have been gold in front of an audience. Red Dwarf is more of a three camera show with filmed bits thrown in. Doug Naylor's directing was a bit overzealous and distracting.

Not all impressed with that first episode, but I think it was just too little. I think I'll download the next two and then watch them all at once.

It's weird without the audience.
